A combined bottle stopper and seal comprising a stopper having a cap portion, said cap portion having a peripheral groove formed therein, a split ring seated in said groove and having a loop portion intermediate its ends, said loop being formed with cutting edges and being offset with respect to the horizontal axis of the ring, and a band of flexible sheet material on said stopper for sealing said cap portion to the neck of a bottle, said loop extending through said band.

3. A bottle stopper adapted for use with flexible sealing strips comprising a peripheral cap portion, a groove formed in said portion, and a split ring seated in said groove, said ring having a gripping andcutting portion formed thereon and offset from the horizontal axis of the ring.

A bottle stopper adapted for use with flexible sealing strips comprising a peripheral cap portion having a groove formed therein, a resilient split ring seated in said groove, said ring having a loop portion intermediate its ends formed with a cutting edge, said loop portion being positioned below the horizontal axis of the ring.
