Description

c. R. HARLESS 2,219,841 KITCHEN INDICATOR Filed 001;. 12, 1939 y dlzzr'les 7?. flawless Patented Got. 29, 1940 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Application October 12, 1939, Serial No. 299,215
1 Claim.
This invention relates to kitchen equipment and more particularly a provision register.
The primary object of this invention resides in the provision of a register adapted to establish a reminder of the provisions to be purchased by a housewife.
Another object of this invention resides in the provision of a register having the names of provisions of a similar nature disposed in groups.
A further object of this invention resides in the provision of a register of such construction that the indicators thereof may be readily manipulated from non-indicating stations to indicating stations opposite the names of the provisions to ll be selected.
A still further object of this invention resides in the provision of a register having non-indicating and indicating stations so disposed that the indicators can be manipulated from one set 20 thereof to the other without interference.
With these and other objects in view this invention resides in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of elements to be hereinafter more particularly set forth in the 25 specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim and, while this disclosure depicts my present conception of the invention, the right is reserved to resort to such changes in construction and ar- 30 rangement of elements as come within the scope of the claim.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application:
Figure 1 is a front view of a provision indicator 35 as constructed in accordance with this invention.
Figure 2 is a plan view thereof.
Figure 3 is an enlarged horizontal sectional view of a portion of the indicator taken approximately on line 33 of Figure 1.
40 Figure 4 is a detail perspective view of one of the indicators.
In the present illustration of this invention the numeral 5 designates, in general, a provision indicator to be used in the kitchens of homes and 45 consists of a base 6 on the face of which is spacedly disposed a disk I having an enlarged opening 8 in its center in the periphery of which is formed a series of notches 9 opposite each of which is printed or otherwise disposed as indicated at 9 the name of a particular food product, said notches forming indicating stations for indicators I0 normally retained in slots H formed in a disk [2 spacedly secured from the base within the opening 8 of the disk 1 and separated from the notched periphery of the disk I by a circular channel l3 which communicates with the notches l0 9 and slots H to permit the indicators ID to be readily slid from their non-indicating positions to stations opposite the name of the products to be purchased.
The indicators, while herein shown in the form of a button as indicated in Figure 4 of the drawing, may be of any other well known similar construction such as a disk with an annular groove therein.
To facilitate hanging the indicator on the wall apertures 20 are formed therein, however, any Well known means may be substituted therefor to dispose it in an appropriate position for observation.
With this invention fully set forth it is manifest that a provision indicator is provided which can be readily manipulated to indicate products to be purchased by the housewife and, through the simplicity of construction thereof, it can be cheaply manufactured and marketed at a reasonable cost.
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
In a device of the kind described, a circular disc having storage slots opening at spaced points through its periphery, an annular member surrounding said disc and spaced therefrom to provide an annular passage between the member and the disc, said annular member havin a series of spaced slots extending into the member from its inner periphery whereby to communicate with the annular passage, name indicia associated with the slots of said member, and headed buttons slidable in said slots and passages.
CHARLES R. HARLESS.
