A further object of the invention is to provide a hanger apparatus ofl the last mentioned character in which the connecting means for each pair of straps consistsy of an integral loop on the upper'end of oney of the wire formed straps and an up-turned wire formed hook which is connected to the upper' ends of the U-shaped wire forming the other strap of the pair and is adapted to be hooked around the loop and to be bent downwards into permanently connected relation with the loop.

The hanger apparatus which is shown in Figures 1 to 4, inclusive, of the drawings constitutes one form or embodiment of the invention. It is primarily adapted for use in suspending orv supporting a form F around a channel beam C in connection with the formation of a 'concrete beam (not shown) around the channel beam, and comprises a series of pairs of straps iii and II, and I2 and I3.` The channel beam is adapted to serve as a reinforcing medium for the co-ncrete beam in connection with a ocr formation (also not shown) and comprises a Vertically extending web c', a top ange c1, and a bottom ange c2. These two flanges are respectively formed integrally with the top and bottom margins of the web c and project horizontally in one direction from the web. The form F is of conventional or standard design for the purpose for which it is adapted and consists of a bottom member f with a series of wooden cleats' f1 and f2 on the underside thereof, and a pair of side members f3. The bottom member f is in the form of a board vand is adapted, as hereinafter described, to be suspended -by the hanger apparatus at a xed distance from the bottom fiange c2 of the channel beam C. The cleats extend transversely of the bottom member of the form and are so nailed or otherwise suitably fixed to the bottom or underside of the bottom member that the ends thereof project beyond the side edges of said bottom member, as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3. The side members f3 of the form are adapted after suspension of the cleat equipped bottom member f from the channel beam by the hanger apparatus under consideration to be placed on the ends of the cleats in an upstanding position against the side edges of the bottom member f and to be suitably maintained in fixed laterally spaced relation. Afterv assembly of the form around the channel beam C concrete is poured into the space within the form and permitted to set in order to form the concrete beam around the vchannel beam as Well understood in the art.
The straps I0 and II are adapted for association with the cleat f1 and are arranged in opposed relation, as shown in the drawings. They are complemental Yand form slings for the ends of the cleat f1.
The strap I0 consists of a U-shaped wire I4 and a wire hook I5, and together with the strap I2 and like straps, not shown, constitutes the means for suspending one side of the form F from the beam C. The wire I4 is preferably of seven gauge stock and consists of a pair of side pieces I6 4anda bottom piece I l. Said bottom piece extends between and `serves ylaterally to space the lower extremities of the side pieces v I6 and is adapted to underlie the end of the cleat ,f1 to which the strap Ill is applied. The lower ends of the side pieces are straight and with the intermediate parts are upwardly convergent with the result that they grip frictionally the sides of the vcleat f1 and serve as the result of their grip to hold the strap I0 against side- Wise tilting when applied to its cleat end. The intermediate parts of the side pieces of the U- shaped wire I4 are inwardly inclined to a smallv extent when the strap I0 is in its operative position and are adapted to extend between the bottomv member f of the form F and the top edge of the web c. The upper ends ofthe side pieces vIii extend inwardly at substantially right angles to the intermediate parts and are connected to the latter by bends I8. They are adapted to overlie and rest' upon the top ange c1 of the channel beam when the strap I0 is in its operative position, that is, in suspended relation with the beam and Withthe exception of the end extremities thereof are straight. 'Ihe hook I5 faces upwardly and is preferably formed of zero gauge stock in order that it is sufficiently stiff for its intended purpose. It serves, as hereinafter described, to connect the upper end of the strap I0 to the upper end of the strap II and consists of an elongatedstraight shank I9, and an upturned hook part 20. The shank is adapted to overlie and rest upon the topf ange of the channel beam and the' end thereof that is remore from the hook part extends between and is welded to the end extremities of the upper ends of the side pieces I6 of the U-shaped wire I4. The hook part 20 before attachment to the upper endof the strap I I is'adapted to extend upwards, as shown in Figure 2. The bends I8 between the upper and intermediate parts of the side piece ofthe wire I4 are substantially 90 bends with the result that when the cleat equipped bottom member fof `the form is raised into position beneath the bottom flange of the channel beam, the upper ends of said side pieces extend downwardly and inwardly, as shown in Figure' 2, and the outer extremity or hook part extends substantially vertically.
The strap II together with the strap I3 and like straps serves to' support the other side of the form F and is adapted to be applied to the end of the cleat f1 that is remote from the end with which the strap I0 is associated and comprises a U-shaped wire 2I.` The latter is formed of the same gauge stock -as the U-shaped wire I4 of the strap I U and consists of a pair of side pieces 22 and a bottom piece '23 which extends between and serves laterally to space the lower extremities of the side pieces 22 and is adapted to underlie the cleat end to which the Strap I I is applied. The lower ends ofthe side pieces 22 are the same in height as, and are upwardly convergent like, the lower ends of the side pieces Iii of the strap forming U-shaped wire I4 and are adapted to grip the sides of the cleat f1 and hold the strap' II against sidewise tilting except when it is manually manipulated.v The intermediate parts of the side` pieces 22 are slightly inwardly inclined when. the' strap LIfis-infits operative'position andA are the same'in'height' as the. side pieces I6 of the Wire I4:v Thev upper bends 2B to the latter. They are adapted to overlie the top flange c1 of the channel -beam C when the strap II is in its operative position and are of "unequal length, as shown in Figure 1. The longer of the two upper'ends of the side pieces 22 is bent into U-shape and is welded to the .end extremity ofthe shortero-f the two upper ends in order to forma loop 25. This loop is adapted to be placed in hookedrelation with the hook I5 after inward :swinging-'of .the straps IIB and II and to be permanently attached to the hoo-k by bending downwardly: l-the extremity of the hook part 20, .asshown inFigure 4. By having the upper ends of 'the' side pieces 22 extend at an angle of approximately 105 with respect to the intermediate parts of said side pieces the loop 25' is in an elevated position with respect to the hook part 20 of the hook I5 when the strap II ls swung inwards and hence may readily be connected'or manipulated into hooked relation'with the hook. When the l hook part 2G is bent downwardly -into place in order permanently to connect theloop to the hook I5, the loop equipped upper ends ofthe side pieces 2.2 of the ystra-p forming U-shaped wire 2l are bent downwards and the bends 24 are brought into abutting relation with the adjacent side edge of the top flange c1 of the channel beam CV As a result of the angular arrangement of the upper ends vofthe two U-shaped wires I4 and 2|, the hook I5isautomatically brought into hooked relation lwith the loop 25 when the cleat equipped bottom member f of the form F after initial raising .or hoisting is low-A ered preliminary to, or just before, bending -of the hook part ZIJ downwardly intov place.-
The straps I2 and I3'are adapted to be 'ap-l plied to opposite ends of the cleat f2 of the form F- and respectively correspond' in arrangement and design to the straps I0 and II'.
In applying or using the apparatus of Figures l to 4, inclusive, the straps Ill and I2 are applied to the ends of the cleats f1 .and`f2' at one side ofthe form F and the straps vII and 'I3 are.

In applying the straps to the ends of theA cleats the lower ends of the U-shaped wires. are loo-ped or slipped aroundthe projecting ends of the cleats and are slid inwards until thelower ends of the side pieces of the U-shapedwires are brought into abutment with the side edges of the bottom member f of the form.L Whenthe straps are so applied or mounted `they are-left in a position wherein theyextend upwardly and outwardly with suicient spacebetweenthe hooks l and the loops to permit of upward movementI of such hooks and loops past the channel beam during hoisting of the ycleat equipped bottom and I2, the straps Il and I3V are swung inwardsy in order to bring the upper ends of the side pieces of their U-shaped Wires into overlying relation with the top flange of the channel beam. After this operation or step the form is lowered to a slight extent (see Figure 3) in order to bring the loops at the upper ends of `the straps II and I3 toward the top flange of the channel beam and into hooked relation with the hooks at the upper ends of the straps I0 and I2. Thereafter the operator by way of a hammer drives the portionsfof the lower ends of the side pieces of the strap formed U-shaped wires which engage or' contact with the side edges of the bottom member Fof the form into such edges sothatthe latter are straight from end to end.

After such operation the cleat equipped 'bottom member f of the form is freed-from the channel beam C and suitably lowered out 'of 'contact with the concrete beam. The portions of the 4straps which remain in the concrete after'hardeningof the latter serve with the channel beamv Cv to reinforce the concrete beam. By xing the comb-ined length of' the lower "ends and intermediate parts of the side pieces of the U-shapedv wires of the straps the hanger vapparatus may be made to support the bottom member of the form F any desired distance from the bottom flange c2 of the channel beamC. f i
In order 'to reinforce against bending the bot tom piecesof `the U-shaped' strap forming wires and also to. prevent such pieces from digging into or'cutting the bottom portions of the cleats and thus changingy the spacing of the bottom mem ber fgof the form and the bottom iiangeof the channel :beam C the lower ends of the straps .are provided with auxiliary U-shaped wires 26.
These wires are lformed of the'same gauge stock as the strap forming wires and comprise crosspieces 2l and `upwardly extending side pieces 28 at the'endsof the cross pieces. The cross pieces 2'! fit against and correspond in length to the bottom pieces of the U-shaped strap forming wires and togetherV with such side pieces form comparatively large. cleat engaging bearings at the lowerV ends of the straps. The upwardly extending side. pieces 28 fit against and are welded tothe lower ends of the side pieces of the .U- shaped strap forming wires and are of slightly After proper attachment of the straps the side less length than such lower ends. The hanger apparatus which is shown in Figures 5 to 9, inclusive, constitutes another or modified form of the invention. It is adapted for use in suspending' or supporting from a horizontally extending I-beam I a form FF in connection with the formation of a concrete beam around `the I-beam Land comprises a pair of opposed straps 29 and 30 and a hook piece V3|.
The I-beam I is arranged so that the flanges' thereof extend horizontally, and the form FF embodies a cleat equipped bottom member 1f which corresponds to and functions the same as the bottom member f of the form F. The straps 29 and 3U are adapted for use with other pairs of like straps .in .connection with the suspension of the form FF and are the same in design and construction. They comprise vertically elongated U-shaped wires 32 and are adapted to be applied to and project upwardly from the endslof one of the cleats under the bottom member of theform. Each wire 32 comprises a horizontally extending bottom piece 33 and a pair of upwardly extending side pieces 34. The side pieces of the wires have inturned upper ends Vwhich are shaped and Welded together to form C-shaped loops 35. The latter are adapted when the cleat equipped bottom member 17 of the form is raised under the bottom ange of the I-beam I to overlie the top ange of the I-beam, as shown in Figure 5. The hook piece 3l is adapted totie together the loops at the upper ends of the straps29 and 30 and consists of a shank 36 with` av at flange engaging bottom 31 and a` pair of inturned hooks 38 at its ends. It is adapted to extend transversely across the top flange of the I-beam I, as shown in Figures 5, 6 and 9, and also to have the loops 35 at the upper ends of the straps 29 and 30 hooked over its hooks 38. After manipulation or arrangement of the loops in hooked relation with'the hooks 38, the latter are adapted to be bent inwards and downwards, as shown in Figure 9, in order permanently-to lock or connect the hook piece to the loops and bringthe bends between the upper ends of the strap forming wires 32 and the intermediate parts of said wires into engagement with the side edges of the beam top ange. After hammering or bending of the hooks into place the straps are maintained in suspended relation with the I-beam and are adapted to hold the form FF in proper position with respect to the beam. 'Ihe lower ends of the strap forming U-shaped .wires 32 are provided with auxiliary U-shaped Wires 39 which serve to reinforce thebottom pieces 33 against bending and prevent such pieces from digging into or cutting the cleat to which the straps-'29 and 39 are applied. Such auxiliary wires 39 are the same in design as the wires 28 for the straps of the hanger apparatus of Figures 1 to 4, inclusive, vand are secured in place by welds between their upstanding side pieces and the lower ends of the side pieces '34 of the wires 32. When applying or using the hanger apparatus of Figures 5 to 9, inclusive, the straps 29 and 30 are first applied to the ends of their cleat. Thereafter the cleat equipped bottom memberv is raised or hoisted under; the bottom flange of the I-beam I and the upper ends of the straps are swung inwards in order to bring the loops 35 over the top flange of the beam and linto hooked relation with the hooks 38 of the hook piece 3|. 'After this operation the bottom member ,0 is lowered and the hooks 38 are bent inwards and downwardly in order permanently to attach the hook piece to the loops, asV hereinbefore pointed out. After the bending operation the hoisting mechanism is withdrawn from the cleat equipped bottom member 17* and the form sides (not shown) are applied to an upstanding position against 'the side edges ofv said bottom member if as well understood inthe art. f
` The two forms or types of hanger apparatus herein describedare simple in design and construction and hence may be manufactured at a low and reasonable cost. They are characterized by the fact that they may be. assembled with facility and the straps thereof are capable of being attached by the operator from a point or position above the beam or structural element. 3 Ii, i

Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A hanger apparatus adapted to suspend from a horizontal structural element a concrete form including `a bottom member with a cross cleat secured thereto and having the ends projecting beyond its side edges, and comprising a pair of opposed upstanding U-shaped wire straps having the lower ends thereof adapted to extend around and form slings for the projecting ends of the cleat and having their upper ends bent inwardly at substantially right angles and adapted upon raising of the bottom member under the element to be brought into overlying relation with said element, and an upwardly facing hook and a loop associated with the upper ends of the straps and respectively adapted when said last mentioned ends are in said overlying relation with the element to connect them together so that the straps upon release of the bottom member serve to hold said member in suspended relation with lthe element.
2. A hanger apparatus adapted to suspend from a horizontal structural element a concrete form including a bottom member with a cross cleat secured thereto and having the ends projecting therebeyond, and comprising an upstanding Wire formed strap having the lower end thereof adapted to extend around and form a sling for one of the projecting ends of the cleat and having its upper end bent laterally inwards, provided at its extremity with an upwardly -facing hook, and adapted upon raising of the bottom member under the element to be brought into overlying relation with said element, and a second upstanding wire formed strap having its lower end shaped and adapted to extend around and form a sling for the other end of the cleat and having the upper end thereof bent laterally inwards and provided at its extremity with a loop adapted upon said raising of the bottom member to be brought into hooked relation with the hook' and eifectconnection of the upper ends of the straps so that the straps upon release of the bottom member serve to hold the member in suspended relation with the element.
3. A hanger apparatus adapted to suspend from a horizontal structural element a concrete form including a bottom member with a crosscleat secured thereto and having the ends projecting therebeyond, comprising an upstanding U-shaped wire strap having the lower end thereof adapted to extend around and form a sling for one of the projecting ends ofthe cleat and having the upper ends of the wire thereof bent inwards at substantially right angles, provided with an upturned hook and adapted upon raising of the bottom member under the element to be brought into overlying relation with said element, and a second upstanding U-shaped wire` bottom member serve to hold said member in suspended relation withthe element.
4. A hanger apparatus adapted to suspend from a horizontal structural element with a top flange a concrete form including a bottom member with a cross--cleat secured thereto and having the ends projecting therefrom, and comprising an upstanding U-shaped wire strap having the lower end thereof adapted tov extend around and form a sling for one of the projecting ends of the cleat and having the upper ends of the wire thereof bent'inwards at substantially right angles, having an upwardly facing heavy wire. hook welded therebetween and adapted upon raising of the bottom member under the element to be brought into .overlying relation and engagement with said to-p ange, and a second upstanding U-shaped wire strap having its low end adapted to extend around and form a sling for the other end of the cleat and having the upper ends of its wire bent inwards at substantially right angles and welded together to form a substantially semicircular loop adapted upon said raising of the bottom member to be brought into hooked relation with the hook and tol effect connection of the upper ends of the straps so that the straps upon release of the bottom member serve to hold said member in suspended relation with the element.
5. A hanger apparatus adapted to suspend from a horizontal structural element a concrete form including a bottom member with a cross cleat secured thereto and having the ends thereof projecting beyond its side edges, and comprising a pair of similarly formed opposed wire formed straps having thelower ends thereof adapted to extend around and form slings for the projecting ends of the cleat and having their upper ends bent laterally inwards and shaped to form loops and adapted upon raising of the bottom member under the element to be brought into overlying relation with the top face of said element, and a separate-ly formed elongated hook piece adapted to rest upon said top face of the element and having upwardly facing hooks at the ends thereof adapted when the loop equipped upper ends of the straps are in their overlying relation to be manipulated into hooked relation with the loops and upon release of the bottom member to hold the straps in suspended relation with the element.
6. A hanger apparatus adapted to suspend from a horizontal structural element a co-ncrete form including a bottom member with a cross cleat secured thereto and having the ends thereof projecting beyond its side edges, and comprising a pair of opposed upstanding similarly formed U-shaped wire side straps having the lower ends thereof adapted to extend around and form slings for the projecting ends of the cleat and having the upper ends of their wires bent inwardly at substantially right angles and connected together to form loops and adapted upon raising of the bottom member under the element to be brought into overlying relation with the top face of the element, and a separately formed elongated hook piece adapted to rest upon said top face of the element and having upwardly facing hooks at the ends thereof adapted when said loop equipped upper ends of the straps are in said overlying relation tobe hooked around the loops and then bent downwardly so as permanently to cononect the straps and hold them and the cleat equipped bottom member in suspended relation with the element.

A hanger apparatus adapted to suspend from a horizontal structural element with a top flange a concrete form including a bottom member with a concrete form including a bottom member with a cross cleat secured thereto and having the ends projecting therebeyond, and comprising an upstanding U-shaped wire strap having the lower end thereof adapted tol extend around and form a sling for one of the projecting ends of the cleat and having the upper ends of the Wire thereof bent inwards and downwardly provided with a heavy wire upwardly facing hook welded therebetween and adapted kupon raising of the bottom member under the element to have said hook brought into engagement with the top flange of the element, and an opposed upstanding U-shaped wire strap having its lower end adapted to extend around and form a sling for the one projecting end of the cleat and having the upper ends of its wire bent so as to extend inwards and slightly upwards and welded together to form a loop adapted upon said raising of the bottom member to be brought into overlying relation with the hook and upon slightly lowering of the bottom member to be brought into hooked relation with said BROR HILLBERG.
