When it is desired to take-oir the packer,` leaving. the same set in the hole, it is only necessary to revolve the member I0 and its cooperating This action will "cause the sleeve I6 to grooves 2T, therebydisengaging the left-hand threads on the portion 20 of the nipple2l.
As the threads are disengaged the sleeve I6 will be forced upwardly, but at no time is the weight ofthe tubing on these threadsl As all other threads are right-hand threads they will tion. The frictional' engagement of the tool B is suflicient to prevent rotation `of that memberv during the take-off operation.
In Figure 4 a slightly modified form of the invention is shown whereinthe race way and other A collar C connects'the string of tubing .and confines a race way 30 between itself and a taing. A second collar D forms a seat for the mem- A memberv 32 is rigidly secured to the tubing A, said member being substituted for the sleeve I4, and having grooves 33 in the outer periphery thereof similar to the grooves 21, `A member 34. contains ballsA 36 and grooves 33. l
The lower portion of the member 34 is externally, right-hand, screwthreaded at 36 Ato receive the upper portion of a connecting collar 31,1vhi1e 65 2,zis,4969 L the lower portion of the collar receives the upper left-hand threads of a tool E.
The tapered member 3| is of suficient outer diameter whereby said member seats upon the upper portion of the tool E.
The operation of the device disclosed in Figure 4 is principally identical to that form shown in Figures l-3 and therefore a description of the same is. deemed unnecessary. y
From theforegoing it may be seen thata tool simple in construction, cheap in manufacture and positive in action may be had. Also, the forms 'disclosed may be used not only with well packers but may be employed in combination withv all oil Manifestly, the construction as shown and described is capable of some modification and suchI modification as may be construed within the scope and meaning of the appended claims is `also considered to be within vthe spirit and intent of the invention. .1 l 4 '-Whatis claimedis: l 1
