This invention relates to improvements in reversible cuffs in which a. number of surfaces are adapted to be exposed. The known types of such cuifs have the defect that they soon become soiled and the folded edge rapidly becomes worn. Often, these known cuffs are so thick that they are uncomfortable to wear. Moreover, they are difiicult to iron or press and these operations cannot be carried out by the housewife or household staff.

According to the invention, a simple reversible cufi, which is comfortable to wear, easy to manufacture and to handle in Washing and ironing, and which is convertible from a single c'ufl into a double cufi, comprises a cufi element of a single length of foldable material forming a double cufi and in part a single cufi'.

An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Referring to the drawing, a is the outer web and b is the inner web of the double cuff, part of the latter, indicated at 0, serving as single culi and corresponding in length to about one quarter of the total length of the double cuff a, b. At about the middle of the inner web 2) of the double cuff a, b flaps d, e are branched off, which receive between their free edges the edge of the garment sleeve 3. The double cuff is formed by a fold g disposed at about the middle of the total length of the cuff. The flaps d, e serve the double purpose of connecting the cuff to the garment sleeve 1 and of forming part of the single cuff c, which has one web only. The button holes 71. and i are provided for use as a double cuif and the button holes is are provided for use as a single culf. The complete reversible cufi', including the part used as a single cuff, may be made of one length of material, from which the flaps d, e are also formed by branching oif at m on the underside. The parts a and b may be provided with a stiffening insertion 2.

For use as a double culf according to Fig. 2, the parts a and b are folded and turned outwardly'substantially parallel to one another, so that they are also substantially parallel to the connecting flaps d, e. The button holes 72 and i then register.

For use as a single cuff according to Fig. 3, the

parts a and b are folded open and are turned over towards the inner sides of the connecting flaps d, e in such a way that they are substantially parallel thereto, while the part projects beyond the flaps d, e and form together therewith a single cuff, the buttonholes k of which are well matched. v

The cuff according to the invention is equally applicable to shirts, blousesor any garments which are desired to have reversible cuffs.

I claim:

1. A reversible cuff for a garment sleeve, comprising a culf element of foldable material, forming a double cuff, a flap portion branched off from said cuff element at a point one quarter of the whole width of said cuff element from one end thereof and attached with its free end to the sleeve, the shorter portion of the cuff element together with said flap portion forming a single sport cuff when the longer portion of the cuff element is stretched inside of said flap portion and said sleeve,said single sport cuff having in its position of use the same length with respect to said sleeve as the double cuff in its folded Fig. 3 is a similar view of same when used position of use, a pair of button holes near the end edge of the shorter portion of the cuff element registering with each other when the single sport cufi is in position of use and twopairs of button holes disposed on both sides of the folding line of the double cuff in equal distance therefrom and registering with each other when the double cuff is in its folded position of use.

2. A reversible culf for a garment sleeve, comprising a cuff element, of foldable material forming a double cuff, a flap portion attached at one end to said cuff element at a point intermediate the folding edge in the middle of the double cuff and one end thereof and with the other end of the flap attached to the sleeve, the shorter portion of the cuff element together with said flap portion forming a single sport cuff when the longer portion of the cuff element is stretched inside of said flapportion and said sleeve, said sin gle sport cuff in its position of use having thesame length with respect to said sleeve as the double cuif in its folded position of use, a pair of button holes near the end edge of the shorter portion of the cuff element registering with each other when the single sport culf is in position of use and two pairs of button holes disposed on 5 FRANZ AUGUS'IIN.
