30 Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken on the line Springs of various sorts are commonly used 3 3 of Fig. 1. to retard the opening movement, and assist the Fig. 4 is a vertical section taken on the line closing movement of oven doors. In my present 4 4 0f Fig- 3- invention I combine a spring having this func-4 Fig. 5 is a view similar to Fig. 3, but showing tion with means for limiting the door opening 35 the door in fully closed position. movement to a substantially horizontal position In the drawing Ill designates the lower horiof the door. Describing this mechanism, 30 deszontal member and II one of the vertical side ignates a pin mounted in and extending between members of an oven door frame, these frame the side walls of each hinge leaf 22 in rear of members being preferably of the inwardly facing the hinge pintle 23. 3| designates a at link, 40 channel form indicated in the drawing. Secured preferably of the form shown in Fig. 1, that is in and forming in effect a. part of the frame memslidable through a vertical guide slot 32 in the ber IIJ is a bar I2 having on its ends forwardly lower end of the side frame member I I along the projecting brackets I3 formed with horizontal side wall of the oven. On the forward end of slots I4 open at their forward ends, these bracklink 3I is a depending hook 33 that enters through 45 ets forming fixed leaves of the oven door hinge a slot 34 in the Wall II and a registering slot 35 structure. I5 designates as an entirety the oven in the outer longitudinal corner of the leaf 22 door which, in the form herein shown, is a heat to engage with the pin 30, as shown in Fig. 3. insulated door comprising spaced outer and in- To the rear end of the link 3| is attached a rod ner walls I6 and I 'l lapped at their edges and 36 disposed on the outer side of the side Wall of 50 enclosing a illing I8 of heat insulating material. the oven and connected at its rear end to the The two walls of the door are bonded together upper end of a lever 31 that is pivoted at 38 to by any suitable means such as screw bolts I3 the side wall of the oven. To the lower end of passed through washers ZIJ on the inner wall I'I lever 31 is connected a strong pull spring 39 that seat the heads of the bolts and loops 2I that is anchored to a bracket 40 on the side g55` ture is the ease of 2 wall oi the oven and cushions the opening movement and assists the closing movement of the door. On the link 3l is a vertical stop shoulder 4| that, in the fully lowered position of the door, contacts with the portion of the trame member Il just above the slot 32 and holds the door in substantially horizontal position.
An important advantage of the described strucapplication and removal of the door. To apply the door it is necessary only to raise the latches 24, enter the hinge pintles 23 in the bracket slots I4, 'lower the latches, and then pull forward the links 3| and engage their hooks 33 with the pins it is necessary only to disengage the hooks 33 from the pins 30, raise the latches 2|, and then withdraw the door from the stove body.
