IMPROVEMENT IN CH EC K-ROWERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 219,671, dated September 16, 1879 application filed August 2, 1879.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Mosns J. BARRON, of Dawson, county of Sangamon, in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Check Bowers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and

'to the letters of reference marked thereon,

which form part of this specification.

My invention relates to check-rowers, and is intended as an improvement upon Letters PatentNo. 212,17 2, granted to me February 11, 1879.

It consists in the construction of the device for con n ecting the droppin g-slide of the planter with the check-rowing mechanism, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, in which-- Figure 1 is a plan view of a planter with my invention attached, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of my device.

A represents the corn-planter, of which Bis the dropping-slide. O is the long bar fastened, by means of double clips I) b and setsorews a a, to the front frame of the planter. The bar C has at each end two grooved rollers, e e, between which the knotted rope d passes. D D are the two levers through which the rope passes, said levers being hinged on the bar 0, and the hinges provided with cranks f f, which are connected by a rod, F. These parts are substantially the same as described in my former patent above referred to.

To connect the slide bar B and rod F, I use a clamp, G, on the slide or dropping-bar B, fastened at any point by a set-screw, h, and provided at the top with an eye, t. Through this eye is passed one end of an L-shaped rod,

H, said end having a nut, 7c, screwed thereon, as shown. The other end of the rod is,.by a set-screw, m, fastened in a socket or box, I, which is, by means of a hook-bolt, p, and nut n, fastened on the rod F.

It will readily be seen that this connection is adjustable, and can be placed on any point on the bar B and rod F, as desired, as well as regulated according to the distance between said parts.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is I In combination with the rod F and slide B, the clamp G, having eye 11, the rod H, with nut k, and the socket or box I, with hook-bolt, setscrew, and nut, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
