'I Claims.
The present invention relates to handspraying implements for spraying colour paint or like material of the type incorporating a pump which ejects the material to be sprayed through a a nozzle and a driving motor builton to the pump.
In the known implements of this kind, the motor and the pump are either arranged one behind the'other in the direction of spraying, or alternatively so arranged relative to each other l that the shaft of the motor runs vertically to the stroke direction of the pump. In these forms of construction a special complete casing is neces*- sary both for the motor-and the pump, which is not always advantageous with regard to weight and ease in handling of the implement.
According to the present invention the pump and the motor are assembled with their longitudinal sides bearing against each other.`
. This advantageous use of space is accompanied bya considerable lessening of the weight and more handy construction of the implement.
One example of construction of the invention is shown diagrammatically in the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows an axial section through the implement.
Figure 2 is an elevation of the implement seen against the direction of spraying.
'I'he casing I encloses both the motor and the pump of the spraying implement andis provided on the lower side with a handle 2. At the end opposite `the spraying nozzle, the casing I is sealed by an elliptical cover 3.
On the spraying nozzle side, there is provided a cover t only for the motor part. In this cover 4 and an intermediate wall 5 inserted into the casing I is mounted the motor shaft li, on which are secured the rotor 1 and a fan 29. 'I'he stator is shown by 8.
'I'he end of the motor shaft projecting through the intermediate wall 5 is constructed as a 'pinion 9 which meshes with a gear wheel III mounted in the intermediate wall 5 and the cover 3. On this toothed wheel is provided at the same time A4&5 an inclined annular track Illa, in which a spherithe pump.' In'this casing a' pump rain 'y-.piston I2 is guided so as to be' axially displaceable'and rotatable. It is pressed into the annular groove Illb of the toothed wheel III by a l'spring' l2 through a collar I2a and a'ball Il lodgedin-its hollow end. On the rotation of the gear wheel, the piston I2 performs a to-and-fro movement.
The piston I2 is provided with a control head I2b. The recesses on this control head I2b cooperate with the inlet opening Ma of a supply 6 chamber I4 for a lubricating auxiliary liquid insuch a manner that according to the extent of the turning of the piston I2 dierent amount of liquid is delivered per stroke. For setting the various turning positions the pis-ton I2 can be l0 turned from Ia'hand rocking grip 2l (only in Fig. 1) via a rod not shown. The lubricating liquid supply chamber I4 is tightly closed by a closing screw I5.
From a reservoir I1, the material to be sprayed 15 flows through an inlet opening I8 towards the pressure cylinder 30. An auxiliary piston .is guided in this cylinder so as to be freely rotatable. It is guided back into its original position after each pressure stroke by a return spring I6. 20
The auxiliary piston 3| is moved to and fro by means of the auxiliary fluid in' rhythm with the movements of the piston I2, and inso doing presses the material to be sprayed into the middle bore 20h of a nozzle needle 20 via a non-re- 26 turn valve I9. This nozzle needle is pressed with its front surface against the outlet of the pump with the aid of a cap nut 2|, which is screwed into the front surface of the casing portion Ia, and by means of a flange 20a. The nozzle mem- 80 ber 22 is longitudinally displaceable on the needle 20. By the spring 23, which is tensioned with the aid of a cover screwl 24 it is pressed withits outlet opening against the tip of the needle, in conjunction with which it forms the nozzle valve. 86 In front of the nozzle outlet there is further fixed a front plate 26 with the aid of a cap nut 25.
From the handle of the implement there projects the operating lever 28 of an electric switch 40 lodged in the interior of the hand grip for switching the electromotor on and oi in such a manner that it lies in the range of the fingers of the hand which operates the grip.
I declare that what I claim is:
1. In a portable hand operated liquid spraying device comprising a. nozzle and a piston pump for ejecting liquid through said nozzle, said nozzle being inl alignment with the axis of said pump, a driving motor drivablyconnected to said pump, saidmotor being arranged with its axis parallel to' the stroke axis of said pump and side by side therewith, and a handle arranged substantially trausverselyof the axes of said motor and pump.
2. In a portable hand operated liquid spraying nozzle being in alignment with the axis of said pump, a driving motor drivably connected to said pump, a casing for said pump, a casing for said motor, said casings being combined to form one common casing, said motor being arranged with its axis parallel to the stroke axis of said pump and side by side therewith, and a handle secured to said common casing and arranged substantially transversely of the axes of said motor and pump.
3. In a portable hand operated liquid spraying device comprising a nozzle and a. piston pump for ejecting liquid through said nozzle, said nozzle being in alignment with the axis of said pump, a driving motor for said pump, said motor being arranged with its axis parallel to the stroke axis of said pump and side by side therewith, and a gear between said motor and said pump arranged at the end of the motor and of the pump opposite to said nozzle, and a handle arranged substantially transversely of the axes of said motor and pump.
4. In a portable h and operated liquid spraying device comprising a nozzle and a piston pump for ejecting liquid through said nozzle, said nozzle being in alignment with the axis of said pump, a driving motor for said pump, said motor beingA arranged with its axis parallel to the stroke axis of said pump and side by side therewith, a gear between said motor and said pump, a common casing for said pump, said motor and said gear, and a handle secured to said common casing and arranged vsubstantially transversely of the axes of said motor and pump. y
5. In a portable hand operated liquid spraying device comprising a nozzle and a piston pump for ejecting liquid through said nozzle, said nozzle being in alignment with the axis o f said pump, a driving motor for said pump, said motor being arranged with its axis parallel to the stroke aids of said pump and side by side therewith, a gear between said motor and said pump,
` a. frontal cam disc driven by said gear, said pump including a pump piston, and a spring resiliently pressing said piston against said cam disc, and a handle arranged substantially transversely of the axes of said motor and pump.
6. In a portable hand operated liquid spraying device comprising a nozzle and a piston pump for ejecting liquid through said nozzle, said nozzle being in alignment with the axis of said pump, a driving motor for said pump, said motor being arranged with its axis parallel 'to the stroke axis of said pump and side by side therewith, a. gear between said motor and said pump, a frontal cam disc driven by said gear, said pump including a piston, a spring resiliently pressing said piston against said cam. disc, and a. rolling member in one end of said piston and bearing against said cam, and a handle arranged substantially transversely of the axes of said motor and pump.
7. In a portable hand operated liquid spraying device comprising a nozzle and a piston pump for ejecting liquid through said nozzle, said nozzle being in alignment with the axis of said pump, a driving motor for said pump, said motor being arranged with its axis parallel to the stroke axis of said pump an'd side by side therewith, a gear between said motor and said pump, a frontal cam disc driven by said gear and having a groove therein, said pump including a piston, a spring pressing said piston against cam, and a rolling member in one end of said piston and bearing against said cam in said groove and a handle arranged substantially transversely of the axes of said motor and pump.
