Description

Feb. 6, 1940. O STANGEBYE 2,189,372
COMBINATION DRESSER MOUNTING Filed Sept. 12, 1938 Patented Feb. 6, 1940 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Application September 12, 1938, Serial No. 229,602 In Sweden September 13, 1937 1 Claim.
For use in kitchens or other places Where dishes are washed it is now usual to provide a working table ordresser with a mounting of stainless steel which comprises basins for the washing of dishes 5 and basins intended for the discharge of dirty water. The manufacturing of such mountings for working tables in kitchens iswhen not very large quantities are involved-extremely expen sive because very expensive apparatus and very expensive machinery must be used in order to draw the stainless material to the desired shape. Consequently it is not economical to order a mounting from drawings; on the contrary the drawing'of the kitchen fitting must be made according to the selection of standard mountings which are on the market.
One object of the present invention is toprovide a standard form for such dresser mounting which in addition to the advantage that it may easily be used in a great many combinations, also has certain features of design which makes it especially advantageous.
The dresser mounting according to the present invention may be said to be characterized by the combination of the following features:
A plate which constitutes a larger or smaller part of the working table or working level ofthe dresser mounting, in which the usual recess constituting the dish basin is provided; a discharge sink located lower than the level of the working table and extending to the forward edge of the working table; an extension of the working table behind the rear edge of the discharge sink, so' that a space is provided for the mounting of combined fitting for hot and cold water which includes a. swingable tube for positioning over either the discharge sink or the dish basin, and finally an opening in the corner of the mounting behind the discharge sink so a) that a space is provided for the passage of pipes from the floor above.
Thus a mounting is provided which may be mounted in the corner of a kitchen at a place in which it is natural that the discharge pipes from the floor above are mounted, at the same time as the mounting has such a shape that the com-- bined fitting for hot and cold water may be mounted directly behind the discharge sink.
' Finally the advantage is obtained that the discharge sink in a manner known per se may be located lower than the working table or level of the dresser mounting, whereby the soiling of the latter with dirty water is avoided. 1
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in a perspective view in the accompanying drawing, in which:
I represents the working table or dresser in which a dish basin 2 is provided. 3 represents the discharge sink and 4 a combined fitting for hot and cold Water, mounted directly behind the discharge sink at the level of the working table. The swingable tube 5 of the combined fitting may-as will be easily understood-serve both 20 the discharge sink 3 and the dish basin 2. Finally an opening 6 is provided in the left corner of the mounting as shown in the drawing, which will surround the discharge pipe I from the floor above to suit a number of possibilities for 25 mounting which one will meet in practice.
I claim:
Dresser mounting of rolled sheet metal, comprising as an integral unit the combination of a dish basin and discharge sink, the discharge sink being provided at the forward edge of the mounting and with its front edge located lower thanrthe working level of the dresser, the rear edge of the sinkbeing spaced from the rear edge of the dresser mounting and flush with the working level thereof to provide a receiving space, adapted for a combined fitting for hot and cold water of the type including 'a swingable tube for positioning over either the sink or the basin, and the space being provided with an 40 opening in the corner behind the discharge sink for the by-passage of pipes from the floor above.
