SCREEN AND STORM SASH HANGER Filed April 4, 1938 ATTORNEYS window frame. Figure 5 is a fragmentary front elevation show- Patented Feb. 6, 1940 v 1 I -S TE This invention relates to hangers for screens and storm sash and has. for the primary object the provision of an efiicient and inexpensive device of this character which may be installed by anyone and which will permit a screen or storm sash to have a hinging movement and to be easily and quickly removed' and replaced on a window frame when, desired.
With these and other objects in view, this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and Figure 2 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on the line 2-1-2 of Figure. 1. t
Figure 3 is a fragmentary front elevation showing my invention connectinga half screen to a window frame.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary front elevation showing my invention connecting the storm sash to a ing the parts of my invention reversely arranged Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates awindow frame, -2 a storm sash, 3 a
screen of the full length type and 4 a screen of the half screen type. Thepurpose of illustrating the different forms of screen in the storm sash is to show clearly how these devices can be easily mounted on. the window frame by the employment of hangers 5 forming the subject matter of the presentinvention. g
Each hanger 5 consists of an attaching plate 6 apertured to receive screws or like fasteners "I.
An arm 8 is formed on one edge of the plate 6' adjacent one end of the latter and said arm in cludes angularly related portions 9 and III, the
portion Ill having a slot H. The portion 9 of the arm 8.

arm 8 mayextendfrom the plate 6 at either a e or if desired, the user of this device can bend the arm 8 to extend at any desired angle from the attaching plate to meet with building constructions.
The present invention further consists of an attaching plate l2 aperturedto receive screws or like fasteners l3 and has formed on one end a hook I4 to extend through the slot H in the In use, a pair, of hangers is employed for the mounting of either a screen or storm sash and;
the attaching plates 6 of thehangers may be secured to the upper corners of the screens, as; shown in Figures 1 and 3, orto the upper corners of the storm sash, as shown in Figure 4. The
substantially degree angle or a degree angle arms may be arranged to extend either inwardly or outwardly, as shown in Figures 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. The attaching plates 6 are secured to the window. frame and with the .hooks e'xtending through the slots ll so that the hanger 5 will, hold screens or the storm sash efficiently secured to the window frame to prevent the entrance of insects or prevent wind from getting behind the frames of the sash or screens and disturbing the location of the frames of saidwsash or screens with respect to the window frame. Window frames used in conjunctionwith brick buildings the hangers to said faces. The hangers may be secured to such frames, as suggested in Figure 7 with the attaching plate 6 secured to the inner edge of the window frame I, and the portion 9 extending inwardly and away from the said frame and having the integrally formed end lil lying in a plane parallel to the plane of the screen 3. The attaching plates I2 are secured to the screen adjacentthe top edge, with the hook portion re-'-' ceived within the elongated slot l I in the end II). The attaching plates 6 of the hangers when secured to the corners of the screen frames will reinforce'such corners and prevent separation of the members of the frame of the screen.
Having described the invention, I claim:
1. A. hanger comprising companion sections; one of said sections having a flat base of substantially rectangular formation in plan, a transversely extending arm portion integrally attached to one of the longitudinal edges of the base adjacent the top edge thereof,the extremity of the arm having an elongated slot and the portion of the arm immediately laterallyv of the said base extending singularly upwardly and outwardly from the base and being bent to position the extremity thereof in a plane parallel with and laterally of the base above the said top edge; and the other of the saidsections adapted to be positioned laterally of the base portion of the .first-mentioned section below the extremity of the arm and being of substantially triangular formation in plan and having the apex thereof rolled upwardly to constitute a hook adapted to register with and to be received by the elongated slot in the extremity of the arm of the said first-mentioned section.
2. A hanger comprising companion sections adapted to be secured to a window frame and [sash respectively; one of said sections including an elongated substantially rectangular base portion having spaced apertures to receive attaching screws, a transverse extension attached to one of the longitudinal edges of the base said screws and with the apex thereof rolled upwardly to comprise a hook adapted to register with and to be received by' the elongated slot in the transverse extension of the said first-mentioned section.
