Figure 8 represents a modified form of the device described herein and reveals a construction of the razor herein adapted to be angularly adjustable on either side. Both sides appear symmetrical and have similar grooves.
It will now be seen that by loosening the nut 2|, the housing I! may be moved about the rod 18 to any desired angle within the limits defined above, and that in every position, the lower end of rock-lever 29 will be in the peripheral groove 23 of the sleeve 22, so that any movement of sleeve 22 by eccentric II will be transmitted to rock lever 29 and by the latter to the inner cutter 32. As the upper housing is moved from the position shown in Fig. 5 to the position shown in Fig. 4 the web or apron l2 will be exposed but forms an effective shield for preventing anything from entering the housing at this point. The front of the housing I! is formed arcuate to provide such a shield when the adjustment is made from the position shown in Fig. 4 to the position shown in Fig. 5, a small slot being formed at 34 to pass about shaft l5 when the position of Fig.4 is desired.
It will also be noted that with the stops provided, the device has a firm seat in either of its extreme positions.
While I have described what I consider tobe a highly desirable embodiment of my invention, it is obvious that many changes in form could be made without departing from the spirit of my invention, and I, therefore, do not limit myself to the exact form herein shown and described, nor to anything less than the whole of my invention as hereinbefore set forth, and as hereinafter claimed. 1
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In a device of the class described, the combination of a lower housing, a rotatable shaft supported thereby, a cam on said shaft, an upper housing, a pivot rod adjustably securing the upper housing to the lower housing, a sleeve on said rod and formed with a groove coacting with said cam, a rock lever pivoted in said upper housing and coacting with said sleeve, and a cutter supported by said upper housing and operable by said lever.
2. The combination of a lower housing, an upper housing having shearing members, a transverse rod pivotally connecting both said housings, means on said transverse rod for adjustably securing said housings in any one of a plurality of angular adjustments and additional means slidably mounted on said rod for reciprocating one of said shearing members.
3. The combination of a lower housing, an upper housing having shearing members, a transverse rod pivotally connecting both said housings, a knurled nut on said transverse rod for adjustably securing said housings in a plurality of angular adjustments and means mounted on said rod for reciprocating one of said shearing members.
4. The combination of a lower housing, an upper housing supported on said lower housing by a transverse rod, means on said transverse rod to pivotally secure said upper housing to said lower housing in any one of a plurality of angular adjustments, an outer shearing member, an inner shearing member mounted therein said shearing members being secured in said upper housing, and means in said lower housing to eil'ect a reciprocal movement of the said inner shearing member yvith respect to the other.
5. The combination of a lower housing, an upper housing supported on said lower housing by a transverse rod, means on said transverse rod to operably secure said upper housing'to said lower housing in any one or a plurality of angular adjustments, an outer shearing member, an inner shearing member mounted therein said shearing members being secured in said upper housing, and means in said lower housing to effeet a reciprocal movement of the said inner shearing member with respect to the other.
6. The combination of a. lower housing, a rotatable shaft supported thereby, a cam on said shaft, an upper housing, a transverse rod adjustably securing the upper housing to'the lower housing, a sleeve on said rod and formed with a groove coacting with said cam, a rock lever pivoted in said upper housing and coacting with said sleeve, a cutter supported by said upper housing and operable by said lever, and means for adjustably securing said housings in any one of a plurality of angular adjustments.
7. The combination of a lower housing, a rotatable shaft supported thereby, a cam on said shaft, an upper housing, a transverse rod adjustably securing the upper housing to the lowerv housing, a sleeve on said rod and formed, with a groove coacting with said cam, a rock lever pivoted in said upper housing and coacting with said sleeve, a cutter supported by said upper housing and operable by said lever, and means for adjustably securing said housings in any one of a plurality of angular adjustments in which the coactive relation of the parts is maintained.
8. A'device of the type described consisting of a lower housing and an upper housing having shearing members therein, a transverse rod having means thereon for reciprocating one of said shearing members and connecting the said housings upon which rod as an axis the upper housing may be rotated with respect to the lower housing to any angular position desired, a knurled thumb piece on one end of said transverse bar securing said upper housing at the angular adjustment desired, and elements on said lower housing to determine the degree of said angular adjustments.
