Referring to Figures 1 and 2, I is a ribbon or band serving for the making of the lateral wall of hollow bodies in accordance with the invention.
This ribbon has transverse undulations or corrugations 2 which may be of any-desired amplitude, so as to enable it to be elongated by pulling on it, or rather by deforming it so as to make it take an arcuate form, as in Figure 3 by exerting, for example; a greater pull on its edge I than that exerted on its opposite edge I. As has been stated, according to one particular mode of carrying out the invention, the first turns of the ribbon may be fixed on a sleeve II of paper, cardboard or the like (Figure 5). The winding of the ribbon is then done and continued from 10 the end of this sleeve II which is to constitute the small base of the article until the completion of the visible side wall I, (Figure 5).

When the winding is finished, the hollow article obtained is automatically closed at its end of smaller diameter, by the end-piece II, as above stated. It only remains,

The filling 'of the bottle I is done, of course, by reversing the bottle and introducing the liquid from the large end I. The stamped bottom II is, after the filling, fixedon the bottle I by crimping at I! the end I of the u bottle.
. 'I'o empty the sealed bottle thus obtained, it sufilces to pierce two holes I1 and II in the endpiece II, one serving for the entry of air, and the other for the discharge of the liquid.
It will be understood that the hollow articles 4 1 above described are given only by way of example.

As an article of manufacture, a closed container having cross-sections of different sizes which comprises a closing'member provided with a flange arranged at the smaller end of thelatera1 wall of the said container, a strip or ribbon of a flexible material having corrugations on its whole width and in a transverse direction with reference to its length, the saidstripbeing cemented atone of its ends on the outer face -of the flange. of the said closing member, the of the other longitudinal edge and with reference I j following part of the said strip or ribbon being width and in a transverse direction with reference to itslength, the said strip being cemented at one of its ends on the outer'faceof the flange of the woundin helical turns forming the lateral wall' of the said container, the transverse corrugations of the strip or ribbon being, in the part of the lateral wall of the container -'including cross-'scctions of different sizes, elongated on the longitudinal edge of the said strip which is in front of the'cross-section 'of the said container which is larger :than the cross-section of the same wall which is in front of its other longitudinal edge and with-reference to the part of the same corrugations situated on the said other.longitudinal edge of 'the same strip, the successive helical convolutions of the said strip being wound flat'upon another and partly overlapping one another along the lateral wall of the container from one end of the said strip to the other and joined together-along their whole length, the larger end of the lateral wall of the container comprising, at least, one convolution of the strip the pitch of which is nil, a filling material in the saidcontainer and a' closing',member arranged at the larger end of the container, the said closing member being provided with a flange turned in the direction opposite to the small end of the conthe free end of the lateral wall of the container being crimped over and set against the said flange.

As an article of manufacture, a closed con tainer having 'cr'oss-sections of different sizes which comprises a closing member provided with a flange arranged at the smaller endof the lateral wall of the said container, a strip or ribbon of paper creped in a transverse direction with reference to its length, the said strip being ce-, mented at one of its ends on the outer face of the flange of the said closing member, the following part of.the said strip or ribbon being wound in helical turns forming the lateral wall of the said container, the transverse corrugations of the strip or ribbon being, in the'part of the 4 means I lateral wall of the container including crosssections of dlflerent sizes, elongated on the longitudinal edge of the said strip which is in front of the cross-section oithe-said container which is larger than the cross-sections 0! them wall which is in front of its other longitudinal edge and with reference to the part of the same cormgations situated on the said other longitudinal edge of the same strip, the successive helical convolutions of the said strip being wound flat upon another and partly overlapping one another" along the lateral wall of the container from one end of the said strip to the other and joined together along their whole length, and the larger end of the lateral wall of the container comprising, at least, one convolution of the strip the pitch of which is nil, a filling material in the said container and a closing member arranged at the 5 larger end of the container, the said closing member being provided with a flange turned in the direction opposite to the small end of the container, the free end of the lateral wall of the container being crimped over and set against 10 the said flange.
