My invention relates to plaques in which the parts and picture, bar relief, etc., are permanently assembled and marketed as a manufactured unit.

This patent relates to and is a variation of my Patent No. 2,003,824 in which the face or display is on the back or reverse side in relation to the construction herein disclosed.

My invention has among its objects to produce an article of manufacture which will preserve beautiful reliefs, printing, bar reliefs, etc., particularly those used for religious purposes.

To provide a durable plaque permanently assembled by manufacture into a unit.

I accomplish these and other objects by the construction herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part hereof in which: v

My plaque comprises a figure or display I on the face 2 which is firmly held in place by the turned-over edges 3 of the metal member 4, said edges are pressed by the pressure of a press to grip or become clinched upon the edges 5 of the display I. Completely covering the metal member 4 on its back surface 6 and around the turned over edges 3 is the covering member 'I, the edges of which are carried around and under the edges 3 thus being engaged and gripped by the edges of the member 4 in addition to the display I.

The covering member 'I is secured to or formed integral with the easel frame 8 on the back` and is provided with the notch 9 which receives the end I0 of the tongue I I which is cut out of the material of theeasel except where it is hinged at I3. The easel is cut out of the material of the frame except where it is hinged at I4. As the covering member I is turned over as well as held under the turned over edges of the member 4. The easel frame which is secured to or forms a part of it is thus held firmly to the other parts of my device and the member I serves the dual purpose of covering the member 4 and also secures the easel frame 8 and easel I2 in place.

An aperture ear I5 is hinged at I6 to the easel frame 8.

Also gripped by the turned over edges 3 of the `6 metal member 4 is the transparent iiexible cover I'I which protectsthe display and face of the plaque and follows the general raised contour of the relief or figure.

A substantial part I8 of the surface of the dis- `10 play is raised vabove the turned over parts held under the turned over edges 3 and the face sury face I9 which serves also as a frame in appearance for the display.

The turned over edges on the face of my plaque 15 protect the raised surfaces of the raised images and displays, which are of relatively thin paper board or other thin springy material pressed or embossed to form the raised image of the display which is preventedfrom being dented and de- 20 formed even though a substantial part of the display is abovev the face of the turned over edges. This protection is accomplished because of the fact that when my plaque is laid flat upon its face although the bar relief or display projects above 25 the turned over edges is not crushed but is temporarily sprung down to the height of the turned over edges or the face I 9 thereof, the easel frame and parts secured to it are on the opposite or back face from the bent or turned over edges.

Figure 6 shows a modification in which the easel and apertured ear are formed integral with the metal member. W'hile my plaque is particularly useful for raised displays, flat printed displays may be used as shown by the details in 35 Figures 5 and 7. In Fig. 5, I have shown the flat display held by the bent over edges of the metal member which protect the face of the display as well as serve as a frame for the display. The easel is also secured on the opposite face from 40 the bent over edges of the metal member and is constructed the same as the easel used on the construction above described for the raised clisplay. 'Ihe fragmentary detail of the modification shown in Fig. '7 is the same construction described 45 above except that the transparent cover is omitted.

In the modification Fig. 6 the easel is shown as formed by cutting out the cover and also the metal member and like the other details of con- 50 struction described above has the easel onthe opposite side of the plaque from the bent over edges which in all of the modifications and construction details herein described has the bent over edges on the face which serve as a frame 55 and also as a protection for the display which is in each case clamped thereunder.

I have herein shown and described in detail one construction of my plaque for the purpose of brevity and that it may be better understood. I do not, however, wish to be limited to these details of construction as they may be modied to suit the various uses for which my plaque is adapted and I may desire departing from the details of construction Within the scope of the appended claims which set forth my invention.

I claim:

l. In a plaque, a display on the face thereof, a metal member back of said display having an easel secured thereto and edges of said metal member bent over and pressed against the face of said display to grip and hold said display thereunder, said bent over edges being on the opposite face from said easel.

2. In a plaque, a display of the face, a metal member back of said display, said metal member being bent over upon the face of said display to grip and hold it to said metal member and an easel secured to said plaque on the opposite face from said bent over edges of said metal member.

3. In a plaque, a display on the face, a metal iember secured to and positioned back of said display, said metal member being bent over upon the face of said display to grip and hold it to said metal member and a covering member on the back of said metal member said covering member being bent over, around and under the bent over edges of said metal thereby gripping said covering member between the bent over edges or said metal member and said display, a part of the face oi said display projecting above the face oi said bent over edges thereby protecting said display from damage.

e. In a plaque, a display on the face, a metal member secured to and positioned back of said display, said metal member being bent over upon the face of said display to grip and hold it to said metal member and a covering member on the back of said metal member said covering member being bent over, around and under the bent over edges of said metal thereby gripping said covering member between the bent over edges of said metal member and said display and Ya transparent iiexible cover clamped between said covering member and display by the bent over edges of said metal member, a part of said display and a part of said transparent flexible cover projecting above the plaque of the face of said bent over edges thereby protecting said display and said transparent cover from damage.

5. In a plaque, a display held at its edges, a metal member having its edges bent over upon the edges of the face of said display to protect the face thereof, a substantial part of said display being raised to a greater height than the plane of the face of and a substantial part of said display lying below the face of said bent over edges.

6. In a plaque, a metal member having bent over edges and a covering member concealing said metal member on its back face having the turned Iover edge positions in contact with said display and a display having a raised face surface projecting above said bent over edges and a substantial part of said display lying below the bent over edge of said metal member and said covering member thereby protecting said display from damage.

. 7. In a plaque, a metal member having bent over edges `and a covering member concealing said metal member on its back having the turned over edge positions in contact with said display face and a display having a raised face surface projecting above said bent over edges of said metal member and said covering member, and an easel frame secured to said covering member on the back thereof and on the back of said plaque on the opposite face from said bent over edges.

8. In a plaque, a metal member having bent over edges and a covering member concealing said metal member on its back face having the turned over edge portions in contact with said display having a raised facesurface projecting above said bent over edges of said metal member and said covering member, an easel frame secured to said covering member on the back thereof and on the opposite face from said bent over edges and an easel hingeably secured to said easel frame.

9. In a plaque, a metal member having bent over edges and a covering member concealing said metal member on its back face and a display having a raised face surface projecting above said bent over edges of said metal member and said covering member, an easel frame secured to said covering member, an easel hingeably secured to said easel frame and a tongue hingeably secured to said easel, said easel, tongue and easel frame being disposed on the opposite face of said plaque from the bent over edges of said metal member.

10. In a plaque, a metal member having bent over edges and a covering member concealing said metal member on its back face and its edges on the face of the plaque and a display having a raised face surface projecting above said bent over edges of said metal member and said covering member, an easel frame secured to said covering member, an easel hingeably secured to said covering member, an easel hingeably secured to said easel frame and a tongue hingeably secured to said easel, said easel, tongue and easel frame being disposed on the opposite face of said plaque from the bent over edges of said metal member said covering member having a notch to receive the end of said tongue.
