PACKAGE FOR ATTACHMENT TO SHOWER NOZZLBS Filed Nov. 22, 1957 Patented Nov. 14, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE I 2,179,932 PACKAGE FOB ATTACHMENT T SHOWER NOZZLES Irenellhrtmamhhon. Ohio Application November, 1937, SerialNo. 115,830 iclaim. (Cl- 206-46) This invention relates to attachments for shower nozzles or spray-heads and has particular relation to attachments for treating water as it emanates from shower nozzles or spray-heads.
One object of the invention is to provide an attachment of the character described which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture, and yet is effective and eilicient in operation.
Another object of the invention is to provide an 10 attachment of the character described which may be sold to the user with the treating salts or other treating material therein, the attachment itself taking the place of the usual container for such salts or treating material without materially 15 adding to the expense thereof.
Still another object of the invention is to pro.- vide an attachment of the character described which will readily adapt itself to be quickly attached to shower nozzles or spray-heads of subgo stantially varying sizes and shapes.
The foregoing and other objects will be readily manifest from the following brief description of the invention and the accompanying drawing thereof.
25 Of the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a plan view of an attachment embodying' the invention.
Figure 2 is an edge view thereof.
Figure 3 is a view, partly broken away and in 30 section, showing the attachment on a shower nozzle.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral l0 designates a receptacle for attachment to shower nozzles or spray-heads for treatment of water 35 emanating therefrom. The receptacle l0 preferably is made by drawing or puckering the peripheral edges of a disc of suitably porous material, such as cloth, to form a bag adapted to retain the crystals or salts II for treating the water,
49 the finished bag having a single opening I2 therein. The opening 12 may be provided at its marginal portions with a band of elastic or resilient material It, as for example a band of rubber or coiled spring, adapted to be expanded over shower 5 nozzles or spray-heads ll to retain the receptacle l0 thereon.
Obviously, the receptacle II will adapt itself to fit showernozzles or spray-heads of a substantial variety of sizes and shapes. The material in the band I! is of such strength to not only stand considerable stretch but will hold the re- 5 ceptacle ll firmly on the nozzle ll under any considerable pressure that might build up due to the water from the nozzle having to pass through the treating material ll.
Thus a simple, inexpensive, eflicient, self-adjusting, water-treatingattachment for shower nozzles '15 provided. The receptacles or attachments are readily adaptable to be sold with the water-treating materials therein, ready for instant use. They may be sold suitably packaged v to prevent leakage of the materials, as for example by the insertion of a disc l5 of cardboard or Cellophane, under the band II, or by other means calculated to hold the material within the receptacle and at the same time to be attractive looking.
Modifications of the invention may be resorted to without departing from the spirit thereof or the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is: A package for attachment to shower nozzles or spray-heads comprising a bag of porous material having water-treating materials therein, said bag having an opening therein, the marginal portion of the bag about said opening being adapted to be engaged over the peripheral edge of a shower nozzle or spray-head, said bag having an expansible band of elastic or resilient material around the marginal portion thereof and normally contracting the opening, whereby the 5 bag may be removably engaged over a shower nozzle with the treating materials therein arranged to receive the water issuing from the nozzle, said package being initially closed at the opening by a piece of sheet material arranged over the water treating materials and under said marginal portion of the bag, said sheet material being removable for placing the bag on a shower head.
