s claims. y (01.' 4o-1s1i 'I'his invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in picture display panels for lamp shadesand the like. e e
The primary object of the invention is to 5 f provide display means for photographs, pictures and the like whereinr the display means may be illuminated and said display means may c'omprlseea side wall or panel of a lamp shade.
A further object of the invention is to prow vide a picture display panel for lamp shades wherein the picture that is made .upon translucent paper or other material in black and white has the rear side thereof colored or tinted with Y the colored effects rendered visible during illumi- 15 nation of the lamp shade. A further and important object of the invention is to provide a picture display panel for lamp shades wherein the wall or panel `of the lamp shade is of two-ply material, embodying' 2 any outer ply of transparent and nre-proof, Celluloid, acetate or the likewith the inner ply of translucent Paper 0f any color' Vor tint desired relative movement andv embossed to provide a picture frame with'the'lower edge of the'em-` bossedy frame portion slotted te facilitate the introduction of a picture between the inner and outerplies of the panel wall.

While the picture may be associated with various devices or supports adapted to be illuminated, the same is herein illustrated as associated with a lamp shade and'while the lamp shade may be of any size and configuration desired, the

The frame structure of the lampI shade provides side panels I5 and each of said panels isconstructed for the support and display of a .o photograph, picture orl the like. Each panel IB is oi.'` doublel ply formation, the inner ply I8 thereof comprising translucent paper that may be whiteor any color desired and in some instances the outer face of the inner papervply I8 u .may be knitted, ,painted or otherwise treated' with suitable ornamentation. One form ofl ornamental display is shown as a border for the embossed picture frame portion tor be presently described and comprises the adhesive securement to the outer exposed face of the inner paper ,spaced from said frame bars, preferably by means of rivets that pass through the ornamental tapes I1. at the upper ends and adjacent the lower ends offsaid tapes. The inner and -outer plies are further secured together by an 45 additional rivet 2| located belowand centrally of the picture frame portion to be described. The rivet connections between the inner and youter plies of the display panels hold said plies ,in wrinkle-free condition and flatly engaged. I0 with each other.
-Atter the inner and outer plies I6 and Il respectively yof the panel have been secured together by the rivets 20 and 2i, a picture frame is formed ln the panel 15, preferably by an em- Il bossing operation and within ornamental tapes I1 and I8, the picture frame portion being rectangular in plan view as illustrated in Figure 1 and having vertical inset edges 22 and top and bottom inset edges 23 and 2lrespectively. The inset embossed bottom edge 2l of the picture frame portion as shown in Figure 4 is` slotted as at 25 to facilitate the introduction of a photoand is finished in black and white, the rear side ofthe picture being tinted or appropriately co1- ored so that when the lamp is illuminated, the
color effects are rendered visible. 'I'he rivet connections between the plies of the panels hold said plies against relative movement While the em-v bossed formation of the picture frame portion and the location yoi? the entrance slot 25 thereto securely retains the photograph or picture in position.
From the above detailed description of the invention, it is believed that theconstruction and use thereof will at once be apparent and vwhile there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is nevertheless l to be understood that minor changes may be made therein withoutl departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed. -We claim:
1. In a picture display panel for lamp shades,
' a panel wall of two-ply formation, the inner ply comprising translucent paper, the outer ply comprising transparent llire-proof material, means for securing the plies together against relative movements, -a picture frame portion embossed in the panel plies," and the lower edge of the picture frame portion being slotted to facilitate placee ment of a picture -in the picture frame portions between the inner and outer plies of the panel,
anda ribbon secured between said plies extendportion to conceal the lower edge of the picture and the picture entrance slot to the picture framev portion.
2. In a picture display panel furV lamp shades,
'Y a panel wall of two-ply formation, the innerply comprising translucent paper, the outer ply comf- 4 prising transparent fire-proof material, means for securing the plies together against relative movements, a picture frame portion embossed in the panel plies, the lower edge of the picture frame portion. being slotted to facilitate placement of a picture in the picture frame portions between they e inner and outer plies of the panel, ornamentation for the picture frame portion applied to the outer face of the inner ply, and a ribbon securedk between said plies extending across the lower end of the picture frame portion to conceal the lower edgenot the pictureand the picture entrance slot to the picture frame portion. l
