SANITARY TOWEL HOLDING DEVICE Filed Aug. 12, 1938 STEPHEN TO TH Patented Oct. 24, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
The invention aims to provide a new and improved device for use primarily by barbers and beauticians to facilitate the saturation of a towel with hot water whenever required, and for hold- 5 ing the hot saturated towel preparatory to use.
With the foregoing in view, the invention resides in the novel subject matter hereinafter described and claimed, description being accomplished by reference to the accompanying draw- 1 ing.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing one form of the device formed from flexible material such as rubber or fabric.
Fig. 2 is: a vertical sectional view on line 22 15 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is an inverted perspective view showing a form of the device constructed from thin sheet metal.
' Fig. 4 is a righted sectional View on line 44 20 of Fig. 3.
In Figs. 1 and 2 the numeral 5 denotes a substantially rectangular pouch formed from such flexible material as fabric or rubber, said pouch being open along its upper edge as indicated at 25 6 and being open at the upper portions of its vertical edges, as shown at 1, thereby facilitating insertion and removal of a towel. The lower edge of the pouch is provided with a plurality of water drainage openings 8.
30 The pouch is of any desired size to conveniently contain a towel but is preferably about seven inches by twelve inches, with the open portions 1 of the vertical edges about two inches deep.
, Whenever a hot towel is desired, the towel is 35 placed in the pouch and hot water is run through said towel from above, said water discharging through the openings 8. Surplus water may be readily squeezed out of the towel by pressing the flexible side walls of the pouch together by hand, 40 leaving the towel saturated to the required extent and virtually impregnated with steam. After these operations are performed, the pouch containing the towel may be laid aside at any convenient place, until use of the towel is required, at which time said towel may be quickly and easily withdrawn from the pouch.
In Figs. 3 and 4, a pouch 5 is shown which 5 may well be constructed from very thin sheet metal, said pouch being open along its upper edge as denoted at 6*, and open along the upper portions of its vertical edges as shown at l The lower edge of the pouch is formed with water 10 drainage openings 8. This form of the invention is usable in the same manner as that above described, the side walls being sufficiently flexible to permit them to be easily pressed by hand for squeezing surplus water from the towel.
Each side of the device shown in Figs. 3 and 4 may be of any desired dimensions, for example, seven by twelve inches, and the pouch may be of any desirable thickness to permit easy towel insertion and removal.
From the foregoing taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it will be seen that a simple and inexpensive device has been provided for the intended purposes. While preferred construction has been shown, minor variations may, of course, be made within the scope of the invention as claimed.
I claim:
A device for holding a towel while saturating the same with hot water and for holding the hot saturated towel preparatory to use thereof, comprising a pouch open along its upper edge and along the upper portions of its vertical edges to permit easy insertion and removal of a towel, the lower edge of said pouch being provided with openings to permit hot water to discharge when run through the pouch-contained towel from above, said pouch having flexible side walls which may be readily pressed inwardly by hand to squeeze surplus hot water from the towel. 0
