Parenteel July`1s, 1939 UNITED sTATEs PATENT OFFICE 6 Claims.
This invention relates'to building construction, the primary object of the invention being to provide a combination of elements which may be readily and easily assembled and united in such a way that an exceptionally strong and durable wall will be produced.
An important object of the invention is to provide a wall structure embodying spaced members between which plastic material such as asphalt or the like is poured, providing a solid wall construction.
Another object of the invention is vto provide securing means of a novel construction and designed for use in connection with the spaced members of' the Wall, the securing members being designed to prevent the spaced members from spreading and at the same timeprovide means for gripping and accurately holding the vertical posts of the wall structure in their upright positions, during the setting of the plastic material around the Vposts to anchor the posts in position.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combinationy and arrangement of parts and inthe details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood 4that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein described, may be madewithin the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention. y v
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view disclosing a section of a wall under construction.
Figure 2A is a perspective view of one form of clip or securing member.
Figure 3 is a view illustrating one of the members used at the ends of adjacent side members of the-wall structure.
Figure 4 is a perspective View of a modified form of connecting device.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of a supporting member used between the spaced side members of the wall structure.
Figure 6 is a modiiied' form thereof.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the reference character 5 designates the foundation of a building structure, which .may be of any desired construction,- preferably concrete.
The reference character 6 designates side members of. the wall construction,'which are arranged end to end, and formed in sections, one above the. other. Thesev sections are constructed preferably of fiber, board material, so that the connecting members indicated at 1, may be readily driven into position, as shown by the drawing. The ends of the members 'I are pointed as at 8, so thatl they may be readily positioned. These members 1 are also arranged along the side edges of the side members 6, to securely hold the sec- 5 tions of the side members together.
l Securing members indicated by the reference character 9 are provided, and have right angled pointed ends Ill adapted to be driven into the edges of the sections of the side members, as shown by Figure 1 of the drawing. These connesting members 9 are formed with notches II, the notches II of adjacent connecting members being .disposed directly opposite to each other, -so that when the vertical posts indicated at I2 are positioned, the laterally extended flanges I3 thereof, and which are formed along the longitudinal edgesA of the posts, may fit therein. In constructing a wall, securing members El are embedded in the concrete wall base A, the pointed ends thereof extending upwardly into the lower edges of the fiber board sections E, holding the lower ends of the posts I2 against movement while the asphalt filler is being `poured between the sections 6. Openings I 4 are formed in the posts 25 I2, and provide means whereby the angle plates 23 may be bolted thereto at the upper ends of the posts providing ceiling height load bearing members. These openings III also allow the -vplastic material or asphalt, to enter the hollow 30 portion of the posts, locking the posts in position.
As shown by Figure 4 of the drawing, the connecting member indicated by the reference character I5 is constructed of a length of wire material having pointed ends I6, which may be readily driven into the ber board of which the sections of the sidemembers are constructed.
In the modified form of the invention as shown by Figure 5 of the drawing, the connecting member indicated at I1 is shown as having an offset o portion I8 to receive the flanges I3 of the vertical 'posts in much the same manner as the notches Il of the connecting member shown by Figure 2.
The ends of the connecting member I'I are eX- tended downwardly at right angles and are provided with pointed extremities I9 whereby they may be driven into the edges of the sections of the side members, securing them against spread ing under the weight of the plastic material positioned therebetween In some cases it may be necessary and preferable to employ a supporting member such as shown by Figure 6 of the drawing, and indicated by' the reference character 20. In the use of a supporting member such as shown at 20, one end 55 of the supporting member ls curved as at 2| to hook over the flange of the posts with which it is I used. The opposite end'of the supporting member is extended at right angles and pointed as at 22, so that it may be readily driven in position.
From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the construction shown and described, I have provided a number of elements which when assembled.as described, will provide a mold for plastic material in the formation of a wall, the mold being constructed of such material that the mold will remain as a part of the wall structure at all times. It will also be seen that i'n connection with the side members of the wall structure, connecting members have been provided for connecting the side members of the wall construction holding the side members in proper spaced relation with respect to each other against spreading, under the weight of the plastic material poured into the space between the side members.
It will of course be understood that certain desirable materials may be used in mixing the plastic composition, to render the wall exceptionally rigid, moisture-proof and fire-proof, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
l. A wall construction for buildings embodying spaced parallel members, connecting members having oilset portions formed therein, said connecting members adapted to be embedded in the edges of the spaced parallel members, securing the parallel members in position, vertical posts positioned between the parallel members, flanges on the posts, said flanges being positioned in the offset portions of the connecting members holding the posts in upright positions, and the space between the parallel members adapted to be illled with plastic material, anchoring the posts in position.

A wall construction for buildings, embodying spaced parallel side members, means including spaced connecting members connected with the parallel members for holding the parallel members in upright positions, vertical posts engaged by the spaced connecting members for holding the vertical posts in upright positions, the space between the spaced parallel side members being filled with plastic material in the formation of a wall.
3. A wall construction for buildings, comprising parallel members embodying a plurality of superposed sections, connecting members having pointed ends adapted to be embedded in the adjacent edges of said superposed Sections, securing the sections together, connecting members spanning the space between the parallel members and having their ends embedded in the sections, holding the sections in spaced relation, posts disposed between the parallel members, means for connecting the latter connecting members to the posts holding the posts in upright positions, and the space between parallel members adapted to be filled with plastic material providing a wall construction.
