IM PROVEMENT IN FENCE-POSTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 215,447, dated May 20, 1879 application filed December 20, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB FRAZIER, of Gentralia, in the county of Marion and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvementin Fence-Posts, of which the following is a specification.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a fence-post and attachments. Fig. 2 is aside elevation of same.

The object of this invention is to furnish a cheap and durable fence, easy of construction and repair, and possessing many advantages over those ordinarily in use.
The invention consists in. fastening to the post A,.with nails or spikes B B B, two stout wires, 0 G, twisted together above and below the spikes or nails, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and made to project in loops or bends D D D on either side beyond the post far enough to receive the ends of rails, planks, or boards within them. I
The arrangement with the two wires, as shown in Fig. l, is especially suitable for strong rail fences, and the shape of the loops or bends can be readily adjusted to the shape of the rail held within them.
This method of holding or clamping the ends of fence rails or boards to the posts saves the cost and labor of nails and nailing, the labor of flattening the ends of the rails, and much labor and expense in ordinary repairs. Such a fence will last longer than the common one, because the ends of the rails will not have to be trimmed off or flattened, as usual, nor, if boards or planks are used, are their ends split or pierced with nails. Thefacility with which broken orunsound rails or boards can be removed and replaced is also a matter of importance, as well as the convenience of moving the fence from one place to another.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The fence-post A, having twisted wires 0, held to the middle thereof by nails B, and extended beyond each side of the post in the form of bows D, as and for the purpose specified.
