In the embodiment of my invention shown in Fig, 6, the rim i9 is slightly'modified in that the flange 26 thereof is corrugated. While it is conformed to engage the bottom portion of the bot-= tom channel, it is not conformed to supportingly engage the inner wall of the bottom channel as is the case with the embodiment previously described.
In Fig. 7 the container side walls are made up of telescoping sections 2i and 22, which adapts the container for dififerent volumes; further, when used as an ice cream container it can be collapsed as the contents are removed. This is of substantial advantage as it facilitates the removal of the contents, particularly the lower portion thereof.
When formed of metal, the rim facilitates the sliding of the containers on the surface upon which they may be resting and also protects the bottom, as in ice cream factories, for example,
where the floors are frequently damp or even' covered with a film of water.
In'Figs. 8 and 9 I illustrate a further modified. embodiment of my invention which utilizes a false bottom 23 resting on the bottom 8, being slidably receivable within the container wall.
In this case, bottom 8 is provided with a suitable number of apertures 24 which perform the double function of permitting access to the false of any possible dead air space between the false bottom 23 and bottom 8 such as would interfere with the freezing of the contents of the container. The manner of assembling the parts is obvious from the foregoing description, the false bottom 23 being inserted after the other parts are in erected position.-
In Fig. I disclose modified provisions for facilitating application of the cover It in the form of an annular reinforcing rim 25 preferably of metal. -This rim encircles the hoop-like reinforce member 4 and has a lowermost inturned flange 26 engaging between the member A and an uppermost rounded bead 21 engaging the top of the container wall. The last named beadgreatly facilitates the telescoping of the cover gisange I! over the container and reinforcing rim I have illustrated and described my invention in highly practical embodiments thereof. I have not attempted to illustrate various adaptations which I contemplate as it is believed these disclosures will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt the same as maybe desired.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A containercomprising a fibrous cylindrical side wall having an external hoop-like reinforce I member at the bottom thereof, the upper edge of said reinforce member providing a ledge, a bottom having a depressed upwardly facing annular side wall, receiving channel terminating in an upwardlyprojecting flange embracing the said reinforclngmember of said side wall, the inner side Wall of the said bottom channel being outwardly inclined, and a rim member of inwardly facing channel cross section having its lower arm upwardly curved to embrace said channel on said bottom and disposed in supporting engagement therewith and its upper arm in retaining engagement with the said ledge, the

3. A container comprising a fibrous side wall having an external hoop-like reinforcing member at an end thereof providing a ledge, an end member having an annular side wall receiving channel terminating in a flange embracing the said reinforcing member of said side wall, the inner side of the said channel of said end member being outwardly inclined, and a rim of inwardly facing channel cross section having its one arm conformed to embrace said channel on said end member and disposed in supporting engagement therewith and its other arm in retaining engagement with said ledge, the flange on said end member being clamped between said reinforcing member and said rim, the outwardly inclined wall of said end member channel acting to expand the side wall into engagement with the rim when the side wall andend member are forced together.
4. A container comprising a fibrous side wall having an external hoop-like reinforcing member at an end thereof providing a ledge, an end member having an annular side wall receiving ing an annular side wall receiving channel ter minating in a side wall embracing flange, the inner side of the said channel of said end member being outwardly inclined, and a rim of inwardly facing channel cross section having its one arm in supporting engagement with said end member and its other arm in retaining engagement with said ledge,'the flange on said end member being-between said side wall and said rim, the outwardly inclined wall of said end member channel acting to expand the side wall into engagement with the rim when the side wall and end member are forced together.
6. A container comprising a fibrous side wall having an external ledge, an end member having I an annular side wall receiving channel terminatment with said ledge, the flange of said end mem-' her being between said side wall and said rim.
7. A container comprising a fibrous side wall provided with an external ledge at an end thereof, an end member having a peripheral wall embracing flange, a side wall receiving channehof which said flange constitutes the outer wall, the
inner wall of said channel being outwardly inclined, and a rim member of inwardly facing channel section having its inner arm engageable with said ledge and its outer arm in supporting engagement with said channel, the outwardly inclined wall of said end member channel facilitating the assembly engagement of the side wall and the end member having the rim assembled therewith.
8. A container comprising a fibrous side wall provided with an external ledge at an end thereof, an end member having a peripheral wall embracing flange, a side wall receiving channel of which said flange constitutes the outer wall, and a rim member of inwardly facing channel section having its inner arm engageable with said ledge and its outer arm in supporting engagement with said channel.
9. A container comprising a fibrous side wall having an external annular ledge, an end member having an annular wall receiving channel and a flange surrounding the ledge, a rim of inwardly facing channel section and embracing the channel and ledge, and an auxiliary end member telescopi'ngly engaging the wall above said first named end member, said first named end member having an aperture therethrough, said annular channelhaving an outwardly inclined wall engageable by the sidewall to facilitate assembly of' the container.
