The present invention relates to a novel combination of condenser and mounting or support therefor.
Among the objects of the present invention is to provide a combined condenser and mounting therefor for maintaining the condenser in a predetermined adjusted horizontal position and in axial alignment with the mounting. The present application is a division of my pending application Serial No. 110,098, filed November 10, 1936.
A further object is to provide a combined condenser and mounting therefor adapted to maintain the condenser in a predetermined longitudinal adjusted position and in axial alignment with the mounting without fixing the condenser to the mounting and which will at the same time permit hand pressure mounting and demounting without the use of tools and the like.
The above features, advantagesand capabilities of my present invention will become apparent from a description of the accompanying drawing in which I have illustrated one form of my invention but the form'there shown is to be understood as illustrative only and not as defining the limits of my invention except as expressed or intended to be expressed in the appended claim.

Fig. 1 is a view in perspective of the novel condenser and mounting therefor.
Fig. 2 is a vertical cross sectional view of the condenser and a top plan view of the mounting.
Fig. 3 is a view in vertical cross section through the novel mounting and showing a fragment of the condenser 'and chassis or frame of a radio.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary view in side elevation of the shell or casing, while Figs. 5 and 6 are alternate forms of the condenser shells or casings.
Referring more particularly to Figs. 1 to 4 inclusive, of the drawing, the mounting device I which is adapted to support the condenser 2 in a predetermined position comprises a metal base or supporting member 3 provided with a central opening for receiving the body of the condenser. In its preferred form, this base is fiat and of an annular shape or configuration, although it is to be understood that various shapes or configurations may be utilized. Projecting from the base in opposed directions are sets of longitudinally spaced members 4 and 5 with the one set disposed in staggered relation with respect to the gripping members in the other set. These members are constructed of metal, preferably steel, and project inwardly and provide resilient grips adapted to mesh firmly with the concave corrugations formed in the condenser 2 for firmly gripping the condenser and normally maintaining it in suspension and in axial alignment with the chassis or pan 6 upon which it is supported, without any additional or auxiliary supporting or retaining means. The construction and arrangement of these gripping members is such that although the condenser is firmly retained against accidental removal or displacement, they at the same time permit the ready intentional pressure mounting or demounting of the condenser.
In the disclosed embodiment of the invention, the outer shell or casing of the condenser is provided with one or more spaced annular concave corrugations I into which one or both sets of the members 4 and 5 seat when the condenser has been forced into the opening in the mounting to the desired extent or position.
In Figs. 5 and 6, I disclose alternate forms of the shell or casing in which may be provided but one annular corrugation 8 and longitudinally spaced depressions 9 suitably spaced apart to register and mesh with the ends of the lower members 5, or longitudinally spaced depressions l0 and l I arranged in staggered relation to register and mesh with the ends of both the upper and lower resilient gripping members.
When utilizing the novel construction, the suspension mounting is preferably first pressed into a suitable opening provided in the pan or chassis 6 of a radio set or the like, and retained therein by a gripping pressure of the lower members against the periphery of the opening as more clearly disclosed in Fig. 3. The condenser is then grasped in the hand and forced into the opening in the mounting by pressure until the members are brought into registration and mesh with the concave corrugations formed.
From the above description and the disclosur in the drawing it will be readily apparent that the invention comprises a novel construction of condenser and mounting therefor, in which the condenser is retained in a suspended position by a resilient but firm gripping pressure which prevents accidental or unintentional displacement or removal.
Having thus disclosed the invention,
I claim:
In a device of the class described, the combination of a condenser and a mounting therefor provided with opposed sets of reversely curved resilient gripping members at their free ends adapted to resiliently but firmly grip the condenser, and circumferentially arranged spaced recesses formed in the wall of the condenser to receive the gripping members substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
