KNIFE BLADE CLEANER Harry Rietveld, Milwaukee, Wis.
Application October 15, 1937, Serial No. 169,213
4 Claims. (Cl. 15-236) This invention appertains to cutlery, and more has been illustrated merely to show the method particularly to a novel attachment for a cake of using the attachment. or similar knife. The knife K embodies the usual knife blade 5 One of the primary objects of my invention and manipulating handle 6. The attachment A 5 is to provide a device which can be readily comprises a body formed from a single blank 5 slipped on the blade of a knife and reciprocated of sheet metal, and this body includes spaced, longitudinally thereof for effectively clearing the substantially parallel side walls I, and a conblade of crumbs and the like adhering thereto necting top Wall 8. The side and top walls have after the slicing of cakes or other confections or formed thereon an outside peripheral reinforcpastries. ing flange 9. This flange has formed thereon 10 Another salient object of my invention is to laterally extending ears Hi. 1. An attachment for cleaning knife blades comprising a body including spaced parallel side walls, a connecting top wall, the body being adapted to straddle a knife blade, and forwardly and inwardly extending resilient wings, said wings having cleaning edges normally urged toward one another and into intimate contact simultaneously with the opposite faces of the knife blade by the inherent resiliency of said wings.
2. An attachment for cleaning knife blades comprising a body including spaced parallel side walls, a connecting top wall, forwardly and inwardly extending resilient wings, the body being adapted to straddle a knife blade, said wings having cleaning edges normally urged toward one another and into contact simultaneously with the opposite faces of the knife blade by the inherent resiliency of said wings, and outwardly flaring guiding lips formed on the forward lower corners of said wings.
3. An attachment for cleaning knife blades comprising a body including spaced side walls and a connecting top wall, said body being adapted to straddle a knife blade, forwardly and inwardly extending resilient wings on the side walls, said wings having cleaning edges for simultaneously engaging the opposite faces of the knife blade, and outwardly extending handles on the side walls.
4. An attachment for cleaning knife blades comprising a body including a pair of spaced side walls and a connecting top wall, the body being adapted to straddle a knife blade, an outwardly extending reinforcing flange on the side and top walls, inwardly projecting resilient cleaning wings on the side walls for simultaneously engaging the opposite faces of the knife blade, outwardly diverging guide lips on the lower forward corners of the wings, outwardly projecting ears on the flange on said side walls, and handles secured to said ears.
