It will be understood that my invention is not limited to the cross-sectional dimensions of the can nor to the shape of the can, but is adapted to any general shape of container and may take other forms, provided they are embraced within the scope of the appended claims. It is also obvious that the container may be made of paper or other suitable material.
When the can is upright the powder at the bottom will always tend to flow into the funnelshaped bottom 44 of the sleeve 40, thus filling the extension nozzle 40 so that a direct charge of this powder is always in position to be p ojected by the air in the can compressed by the bellows mechanism. Therefore, irrespective of the position of the can, powder will always be fed to the outside nozzle.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to be secured by Letters Patent is as follows:
1. A shipping and dispensing container for powdered material, comprising a tubular body wall having opposed substantially fiat end closures secured thereto, one of said closures having an opening closed by a removable cap for filling and refilling said container, a powder dispensing nozzle carried in one of said end closures, means for sealing said nozzle to prevent deterioration of the container contents and accidental dispensing of the same, said body wall having a cutout portion defined by an annular bead and a clamping ring, and a bellows member disposed within said container for ejecting said contents through said nozzle when said sealing means is removed, said bellows member including a flexible diaphragm having its marginal portion secured between said annular bead and said clamping ring.
2. A dispensing container having side walls and a collapsible bellows formed in one of said walls, said container having a nozzle through which powdered contents within the container are adapted to be expelled upon the operation of the bellows, said nozzle having a tubular extension projecting from a point adjacent the bottom of the container directly to the nozzle and open to the interior contents of the container, said nozzle being of substantially funnel-shaped dimensions, said nozzle also having its lower end cut on a diagonal line to facilitate the entry of the powdered contents into the nozzle.
3. A can having a body portion, a top, and a bottom and having a nozzle, the body portion being provided with a collapsible bellows, a top for the body portion, a bottom seamed to the body portion, and a funnel extension having a portion extending adjacent to the bottom and held in place by the bottom seam.
4. In a container of the bellows type, the combination of a can having a main body portion and a bottom seamed thereto, said can having a top, and a nozzle projecting therefrom, said can having a tubular nozzle extension, the bottom of the extension extending into the bottom seam of the can.
5. A dispensing can of the bellows type comprising a main body portion, a top, and a bottom,
seams uniting the body portion, the top, and the bottom, the body portion having a collapsible bellows device, the can having a nozzle through which powdered material in the can may be expelled, said nozzle having a tubular extension, said extension being rigidly held in position within the container by means of one of the seams of the can.
6. A shipping and dispensing container for powdered material comprising a tubular body having opposed end closures secured thereto, a powder dispensing nozzle carried in one of said end closures, said body having a cut out portion defined by an annular bead and a clamping ring, and a bellows member disposed within said container for ejecting said contents through said nozzle when said sealing means is removed, said bellows member including a flexible diaphragm having its marginal portion secured to said annular bead and said clamping ring.
7. A shipping and dispensing container for powdered material comprising a longitudinally extending, tubular body having substantially opposed, parallel, fiat side walls joined by curved connecting walls along their longitudinally extending side edges, opposed end walls secured respectively to the opposite ends of the tubular body and being arranged transversely thereof, a powder dispensing nozzle carried by one of the end walls, bellows means in one of said flat side walls for ejecting said contents through the nozzle upon inward movement thereof, and spring means mounted between said side Walls and acting upon said bellows for normally urging said bellows means outwardly. v
8. A shipping and dispensing container for a powdered material comprising a tubular body having opposed end closures secured thereto, a powder dispensing nozzle in the end of one of said end closures, said nozzle having a tubular extension projecting from a point adjacent the bottom of the container directly to the nozzle and open to the interior contents of said container, said body having a cut out portion defined by an annular bead and a clamping ring, and a' bellows member disposed within said container for ejecting said contents through said nozzle when said sealing means is removed, said bellows member including a flexible diaphragm having its marginal portion secured to said annular bead and said clamping ring.
9. A shipping and dispensing container forpowdered material comprising a tubular body having opposed flat side walls and opposed end closures secured respectively to the opposed open end of said tubular body, a powder dispensing nozzle carried by one of said end 'closures,said nozzle having a tubular extension projecting from a point adjacent the bottom of the container directly to the nozzle and open to the interior contents of said container, bellows means in one of said side walls for ejecting said contents through said nozzle upon inward movement thereof when said sealing means is removed, and I spring means between said side walls'and actingupon said bellows means for normally urging said means outwardly.
