This invention relates to the packaging of razor blades and consists in the new and novel manner in which the blades are protected against the marring o-r dulling of the edges of the blades.

In the packaging of razor blades, the process is such that the blades are so tightly packed in the packages that the sharp shaving edges are almost certain to be injured either on the insertion of the blades into, or the withdrawal from, the package.

It is an object of my invention then, to provide a package for razor blades and their individual wrappers that will rigidly secure them against movement within the confines of the package and yet be rendered easily accessible to the ultimate user.

It is another object of my invention to mount the blade and wrapper so that only one flap of each blade wrapper is engaged by the securing means.

A further object of my invention is to additionally prevent movement of the blade and wrapper by having their bottom edges so closely abut the inner bottom edges of the package that practically no movement of the blade within the package is possible.

Still another object of my invention is to provide means for suspending the package when not in use. When suspended in this manner, a blade may readily be abstracted from the package by a slight pull, which will allow the blade in its wrapper to be detached without injury to the blade edge, leaving only the flap of the blade wrapper in the suspended package.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a package which, although designed to protect the blade and its edges, is extremely easy to manufacture and accordingly reasonable in its cost.

With these and various other objects in view, the invention will consist of certain novel features of construction and operation as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the specification, drawing and claims appended hereto.

In the drawing, which illustrates an embodiment of the device, and wherein like reference characters are used to dsignate like parts Figure 1 is a plan View showing one manner of mounting the blades in the package.

Figure 3 is a plan view of a modification of the seeming and separating means.

Figure 4 is a; vertical section view of another modification.

Figure 5 is a plan View of an opened package.

Figure 6 is a plan view of one form of a package blank.

Figure 7 is a fragmentary sectional view showing another modification oi the Wrapper securing means, while Figure 8 is a fragmentary sectional view showing one form of the wrapper securing means.

Referring to Figure 1, the numeral l0 represents the package proper having end portions l4. The blade wrappers l6, having end portions l2 are secured to the package end portions M by having flaps I8 punched out and inserted into slits 20 in the end portions I4, and the central portion 22 of the blade wrapper end portions, thus forming an aperture 2|. In this figure the front portion 24 has been separated at the bottom edge 26 from the weakened edge 28 of the back portion 30.

It is to be noticed that if the blade wrapper l6, becomes loosened from the flaps I 8, because of faulty material or construction, the blade and wrapper are additionally prevented from extending past the edges of the package because of the close proximity of the bottom edges 32 to the bottom edge 28 of the package before the two portions 26 and 30, have been separated. If movement of the wrappers within the package, to the left, should occur, as just suggested, the leading corner 34, of the wrapper would strike the inner bottom edge of the wrapper at 36, as indicated by the dotted lines 38 showing the outline of the wrapper.

In Figure 2 I have shown the package I0 supported upon a hook 40 for convenience to the user, while in Figure 3 a tab 4|, is punched out of the top and bottom portions as well as the end portion l2 of the wrappers, thus forming the aperture 42. In this view, the front portion 24, of package is scored at 44 and 48 to permit the easy removal of this cover.

In Figures 2 and 4 a grommet 46 is used to secure the end portions I 2 of the wrappers and the end portions I4 of the package securely to gether. In Figure 5, the package is opened so that the blade and blade wrappers may be removed thereirom by tearing the end portions i2 from the securing means 42 or by tearing the main body from its end portion at the folding crease. The top flap may be additionally scored or weakened as at 48, so that the entire top portion 24, may be removed.

A blank is shown in Figure 6 with scorings 50,

on both the top and bottom portions and also having the holes 52, for the insertion of securing means.

Another modification is indicated in Figure 7 wherein the end portions I2 and M, are secured together by suitable adhesives as at 54.

In Figure 8 the end portions l2 and M of the package and wrappers are inserted through an opening 56 in the package front and secured thereto in any well known manner as at 58.

While I have only shown two or three blade and blade wrappers in the drawing, it is preferably obvious that a larger number may be se cured in like manner.

It is to be understood that I do not wish to be limited to the exact embodiment of the device shown, which'is merely by way ofillu'stration and not limitation, as various and other forms of the device will of course be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing'f'romthe spirit of the invention or, the scope of the claims.

I claim: I v V 1. In a package for safety razor blade wrappers and blades, said package. being formed of a single piece of material and folded upon itself to form a front and back portion to enclose the bottom edge of the blade wrappers and means for securing together the upper end portions of the package and the wrappers, means for securing together the side edges of the front and back portions, means for the retention of the blades and blade wrappers within the limits of the package, said means including said end portions securing means said side securing means and the limitation of space between the bottom edge of the blade wrapper and the inner bottom edge or the package.

2. In a package for safety razor blade wrappers, and blades, said package being formed of a single piece of material and folded upon itself to form front and back portions, means for securing together the side edges of the front and back portions, apertures located adjacent the ends of said, portions, apertures located adjacent the ends of said wrappers and in alignment with said first mentioned apertures to position said wrappers centrally of said package, the positioning of said wrappers forming a void area between the bottom of said wrappers and the folding portion, and the bottom of said wrappers and the side securing'means of said package to allow a very limited movement of said blades and blade wrappers within said age.
