The weight of the table overhanging the lip 29 restrains upward displacement of the table and the lip 21 and ledge 28 prevent the table from dropping into the firebox. Since the vertical distance between the lip 21 and the upper edge of the lip 29 is approximately the thickness of the rearward portion of the table, the table normally assumes a substantially horizontal position.
Fore and aft movement of the distributing' table is prevented by the lugs 3| which depend from the underside of the table 24 and iit closely adjacent the inner surface of the lip 29 when the table is in operative position and by reason of the fact that the rearward side of the table abuts the wall 30. Lateral movement of the table is pre-. vented by the vane 32 which is formed with the' ledge 28 and fits between the lugsA 3l when the table is in'position. .Provisions have been made whereby the table 24 can be conveniently placed in operative position and similarly disengaged from the distributor head-and removed when itiis desired to do so for purpose of repair, replacement or other reasons. The wall 30 and the inner surfaceof the lip 29 are curved and described on a common radius. The side of the table 24 abutting the wall 30 and the sides of the lugs 3| contacting the inner surface of the lip 29 are likewise curved and described on such common radius. This permits the table 24 to be raised about its rearward side as a pivot and to be removed from en- -gagement with the distributor head when the lugs 3| have cleared the upper edge of the lip 29. Normally such, upward movement is restrained by the overhanging weight of the table 24, so'that forv all practical purposes the table is securely and immovably engageable with the distributor head i9. The height to which the table must be raised before it can beV disengaged from the head is determined' by the height of the'lugs 3|. Figures 4, 5 and 6 show a slightly modified form of the invention, differing fromthe preferred form in that downward movement of the table 4 about the support ledge and lip 4 l, 42 is prevented bythe spaced tongues 43 and 44 ,which depend from the underside of the table and extend rearwardly `beneath the distributor head 45. The tongues 43 and 44 are spaced apart a distance suicient to permit the ledge 4I to pass therebetween when placing the table in position.
From the foregoing it will 'be understood `that the rearV section of the distributing mechanism need not be made in the form of a chambered distributor head but may constitute the rear section of a two section distributor plate over which fuel ,may be propelled by pressure fluid blasts disrearward charged from a point rearward thereof or in any other operative position.
I claim:
1. In a Stoker, a distributing device arranged to permit fuel to pass thereover for distribution over a iire comprising separable rear and front sections, a ledge formed with said rear section and extending forward of its front face, said ledge forming a support for said front section, said rear section being provided with means engaging the side of said front section for preventing upward displacement of the rearward side of said front section, a lug depending from the vunder side of said front section engaging said ledge, said lug and said ledge having contacting surfaces at least one of which is curved permittingl upward swinging movement of said front section about its rearward side, said front section being disengageable from said `rear section upon disengagement of said lug and ledge.
2. In a Stoker, a distributing device arranged to permit fuel to pass thereover for distribution over a fire comprising separable rear and front sections, a lip formed with said rear section and extendingV forward of its front face, a ledge formed with said rear section beneath and spaced apart from said lip and extending forwardly beyond the free side of said lip, said ledge having at its free side an upturned portion, said front section resting between its forward and rearward sides on said upturned ledge portion, the rearward side of said frontseotion extending beneath said lip for preventing displacement of said front section by reason of its overhanging weight, a lug depending from the underside of said front section engaging the inner surface of said upturned ledge portion preventing forward movement of said front section with respect to said rear section, said lug and the inner surface of said upturned ledge portion being arranged to permit upward swinging movement of said front section about its rearward side.
3. In a fuel distributing device, a distributor head having a front face, jet openings in said front face, a lip extending forward of said face, a ledge formed with said distributor head, said ledge being beneath and spaced apart from said lip and extending in the same direction and beyond the free side of said lip, said ledge at its free side having an upturned portion, a distributwalls respectively and forming therewith a pivot about which the tablecan ybe moved.
4. In a fuel distributing device, a distributor head having a front face, jet openings in said front face, a lip extending forward of said face beneath said jet openings, a ledge formed with said distributor head spaced beneath and apart from said lip and extending in the same direction and beyond the free side of said lip, said ledge at its free side having an upturned portion terminating a vertical distance below said lip, the wall portion included between said lip and said ledge and the inner surface of said upturned ledge portion being curved and formed on a cornmon radius, a distributing table, the rearward i.
portion of said table extending beneath said lip, said table resting on said upturned ledge portion between its forward and rearward sides, the weight of said table overhanging the upturned ledge portion normally preventing upward displacement of the forward edge of said table, a lug depending from the under side of said table arranged to t closely adjacent the curved sur face of said upturned ledge portion preventing forward displacement of the table, the rearward side of said table and the surface of said lug contacting the curved surface of said upturned ledge portion being curved and formed on the same radius as said curved surfaces whereby said plate can be inserted in position by pivoting it about its rearward side.
5. As an article of manufacture, a distributor head for a stoker having a front face, jet openings in said front face, a lip extending forward of said front face, a ledge beneath and spaced apart from said lipextending in the same direction and beyond the free side of said lip, said ledge at its free side having an upturned portion terminating a vertical distance below said lip.
6. As an article of manufacture, a distributor head for a stoker having a front face, jet openings in said front face, a lip extending forward of said front face, a ledge beneath and spaced apart from said lip extending in the same direction and beyond the free side of said lip, said ledge at its free side having an upturned portion terminating a vertical distance below said lip, the wall portion included between said lip and said ledge having an arcuate surface.
7. As an article of manufacture, a distributor head for a stoker having a front face, jet openings in said front face, a lip extending forward of said front face, a ledge beneath and spaced apart from said lip extending in the same direction and beyond the free side of said lip, said ledge at its free side having an upturned portion terminating a vertical distance below said lip, the inner surface of said upturned ledge portion having an arcuate surface.
8. As an article of manufacture, a distributor head for a stoker having a front face, jet openings in said front face, a lip extending forward of said front face, a ledge beneath and spaced apart from said lip extending in the same direction and beyond the free side of said lip, said ledge at its free side having an upturned portion terminating a vertical distance below said lip, the wall portion included between said lip and said ledge and the inner surface of said upturned ledge portion being curved and formed on the same radius.
9. As an article of manufacture, a distributing table for a Stoker having a surface across which fuel passes for distribution, the rearward side of said table being curved, a lug depending from the under side of said table nearer its rearward than its forward side, the forward surface of said lug being curved, said forward surface and the curved edge of said table being formed on a common radius.

As an article of manufacture, a distributor head for a stoker having a front face, jet openings in said front face, a ledge beneath said jet openings extending forward of said front face, at least a portion of the wall included between said jet openings and said ledge being curved, said ledge at its free side having an upturned portion, the inner surface of said upturned ledge portion being curved, said curved surfaces being formed on the same radius.
11. As an article of manufacture, a distributing table for a Stoker having a surface across which fuel passes for distribution, the rearward side of said table being curved, a lug depending from the under side of said table, the surface of said lug facing the front of said table being curved, said curvedy surface and the curved side of said table being formed on a common radius and ledges depending from the under side of said table and extending rearwardly beyond the rearward side of said table.
12. In a Stoker, a distributing device arranged to permit fuel to pass thereover for distribution over a re, comprising separabley rear and front sections, a ledge formed with said rear section and extending forwardly of its front face, said ledge forming a support for said front section, said rear section being provided with means engaging the rearward side of said front section for pre-venting upward displacement of the rearward side of said front section, means depending from the under side of said front section engaging said ledge for preventing forward displacement of said front section, said front section being arranged to permit upward swinging movement thereof about its rearward side and being disengageable from said rear section upon disengagement of said depending means and said ledge.
13. In a Stoker, a distributing device arranged to permit fuel to pass thereover for distribution over a fire comprising separable rear and front sections, ledge-like means formed with said rear section and extending forward of its front face forming supporting means for said front section, means formed with said rear section and extending forward of its front face above said ledgelike means and above the fuel supporting surface of said front section engaging the rearward portion of said front section for preventing upward displacement of the rearward portion of said front section and downward displacement of the forward portion of said front section, said front section being arranged for upward swinging movement about its rearward portion and being disengageable by such swinging movement from said rear section, and means formed with and extending in a substantially vertical direction from the rearward portion of said front section, said means being engaged by one of the means extending forward of the front face of said rearward section for preventing forward displacement of said front section with respect to said rearward section.
