Description

Allg. 23? 1938.. G. B BEN-rz 2,127,762
BATHTUB SEAT ATTACHMENT Filed Sept. 14, 1937 SWW @eoye Z5. ,BQYULZ Patented Aug. 23, 1938 UNITED STATES PATENT oFFlcE 3 Claims.
The invention aims to provide a new and improved attachment affording a convenient seat for a bathtub, the construction being exceptionally simple and inexpensive, easy to apply and re- 5 move, and of such form that it will tightly wedge into place.
Another object of the invention is to provide novel means for varying the length of the seat attachment to not only t tubs of different widths,
but to enable the attachment .to be sup-ported relatively high or comparatively low in a tub of one width, according to the users desires.
With the foregoing in view, the invention resides in the novel subject matter hereinafter described and claimed, description being accomplished by reference to the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a transverse sectional View through a bathtub showing an edge view of one form of the invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the seat attachment shown in Fig. l.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing a slightly different form of seat attachment.
In Figs. 1 and 2, a one-piece elongated seat I is provided, the ends of said seat being provided with substantially vertical end plates il which are rigidly attached thereto by any suitable means, providing substantially a one-piece struc- 30 ture. The end plates ll extend both upwardly and downwardly from the seat ID and they converge downwardly to abut the inner sides of the side walls i2 of a bathtub. 1f desired, the outer sides of the plates Il may be provided with a 35 yieldable covering I3 of rubber or the like to prevent marring the finish of the tub, but even if these coverings be omitted, the attachment will wedge tightly into place and cannot slip.
In Fig. 3, an elongated seat I4 is provided having downwardly turned integral end plates l5 at its ends to perform the same function as the end plates Il. The outer sides of these end plates i5 are preferably provided with coverings I6 of rubber or the like. 5
By providing the novel construction shown and described or a substantial equivalent thereof, a simpleand advantageous seat attachment is provided, and one which may be readily applied and removed.
While the details disclosed are preferred, minor variations may of course be made within the scope of the invention as claimed.
I claim:
1. A bathtub attachment comprising an elongated seat provided at its ends with rigidly attached inherently rigid end plates which project vertically in at least one direction from said seat, said end plates being disposed in downwardly converging planes to abut the inner sides of the side walls of a bathtub and wedge tightly against the same.
2. A bathtub attachment comprising an elongated seat provided at its ends with rigidly attached inherently rigid end plates which project both upwardly and downwardly from said seat, said end plates being disposed in downwardly converging planes to abut the inner sides of the side Walls of a bathtub and wedge tightly against the same.
3. A bathtub attachment comprising an elongated seat provided at its ends with rigidly attached inherently rigid end plates which project downwardly but not upwardly from the ends of said seat, said end plates being disposed in downwardly converging planes to abut the inner sides of the side walls of a bathtub and Wedge tightly against the same.
