Various modifications will occur to those skilled in the art in the composition, coniiguration and disposition of the component elements going to make up the invention as a whole as 'well as the use to which the point is put and no limitation is intended by the phraseology of the foregoing description or illustrations in the accompanying drawing, except as indicated in the appended claims.
What is claimed iszl. The method of making a hard point for poles comprising forming a shoe part oi steel having a taperingend and the opposite end of reduced constant diameter, inserting the end of reduced diameter in a tube portion oi constant diameter and forming the parts to tapering shape.
` 2. The method of making a hard point for poles comprising forming a. shoe part of steel having a tapering end and the opposite end cylindrical and of reduced diameter and provided with a hollow bore, inserting said portion o! reduced diameter in a cylindrical tube portion and forming the parts to tapering shape. l
a. The manta or making a mrd point :or poles comprising forming a. solid pointed shoe part oi' high carbon steel having a tubular portion remote from the point, inserting the tubular portion thereof in a tube of low carbon steel and 'swaging the -partsto a shape tapering toward the point.
4. The method oi' securing together portions o! a point for poles comprising forming a point portion with an outwardly flaring end and con- Y stricting the end of a tubular portion thereabout.
5. The method of making a hard point for poles comprising forming a shoe part with a cylindrical portion, inserting the cylindrical portion in a tube portion and thereafter forming the shoe part and the tube portion in contact therewith to tapering shape.
6. The method o! securing together portions of -a point for poles comprising forming a point portion with an outwardly flaring end, the diameter of which, proximate the point portion, is less than the diameter of the adjacent portion to deiine a shoulder therebetween and constricting thereabout the end of a tubular portion 4abutting the shoulder.
