My invention relates to means for cooling and dispensing drinking water, and has for its principal object, the provision of a relatively simple, practical and inexpensive structure, including an olla, and the construction of the cooler such as to automatically induce a iiow or draught of air over the entire exterior surface of the olla in order to bring about the evaporation of the moisture on the surface of the olla, and thereby producing a marked cooling effect on the body of Water contained Within the olla.
Further objects of my invention are to generally improve upon and simplify the construction of the existing forms of drinking water coolers, to provide a cooler having a jacket or cover for the olla, and the construction of which cover or jacket is such as to accommodate ollas of differentsize's, and further, to provide a cooler of the character referred to that presents a neat and finished appearance, and which greatly facilitates and expedites the assembly of the cooler and its delivery and installation for use.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangements of parts that will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in

Referring by numerals to the accompanying drawing which illustrates' a preferred embodiment of my invention, I0, I0 designate the legs of a supporting structure, and secured to the intermediate portions of said legs, is a horizontally disposed frame Il that provides a `support for a jar or other receptacle I2 that receives the drip or waste water.
Suitably secured to the upper ends ofthe legs I0, is a ring I3. The jacket that vpractically encloses the olla comprises a vertically disposed cylindrical body I4, preferably formed of sheet metal, and open at both ends. Formed through the wall of this jacket adjacent its lower end, isa circumferential row of apertures I5, and formed through the wall ofthe jacket near its upper end, is a circumferential row of apertures I 6.
These openings formed in the jacket near its upper and lower ends permit air to enter and circulate freely in the annular space between the wall of the jacket and the olla that is positioned therein.
Adjustably mounted within the jacket I4, a short distance above the lower series of apertures I5, is a member that provides a base or support for the olla that occupies the upper portion of the chamber within `the jacket, and this base comprises a disc I1, preferably formed of sheet metal, and said disc being dshed so that it gradually declines from its outer edge to its center, thus permitting any water that may accumulate on said base to iiow by gravity to the center thereof, and to discharge through an opening IB that is formed at the center.
Projecting upwardly and outwardly from the margin of the base I1 is a curved wall I9, in which is formed a series of air circulation openings 2li, and which latter are positioned a short distance above the air inlet openings I5, in the wall 4of the jacket.
' Projecting upwardly from the upper end of this curved wall I9, is a short circular wall 2l that lits directly against the inner face of the wall of jacketlll, and formed through this wall 2! are two or more circumferentially disposed rows of apertures 22.
Passing through the Wall of the jacket I, and disposed at suitable distances apart, are bolts 23 that pass through certain of the apertures 22 in wall 2l. By providing two or more rows of the apertures 22, the position of base Il may be adjusted vertically within the jacket, and secured in the desired adjusted position.
Removably positioned on top of the base il, and extending across same, are two or more wires 24, the ends of which are extended into certain of the apertures 2U, and resting on these wires is the bottom of an olla 25 of conventional shape and construction.
Thus the bottom of the olla is maintained a short distanceabove the inclined surface of the base I1, so that any water that may drip off the olla inay readily flow downwardly over the inclined surface of the base, and pass through opening I8 into the jar I2. In order to firmly support the olla 25 in centered position on the base, the lower ends of springs 26 are secured to the bolts 23 that adjustably connect the base Il to the jacket I 4, and the ends of the bolts 23 that project through these springs receive nuts 21. The upper portions of the springs 26 are curved inwardly to- Ward the center of the jacket, so as to yieldingly rest upon the intermediate portion of the body of the olla, thus effectively holding the latter against any lateral shifting movement upon the base.
Removably positioned on the upper end of the jacket I4, is a ring cover 28, the inner edge of which terminates adjacent the upper end of the neck of the olla, and resting on the upper end of the neck of the olla and the adjacent edge of the cover 28, is a packing ring or gasket 29, preferably of rubber, which serves as a bearing for the Water bottle B that is supported on top of the cooler in inverted position. (See Fig. 2.)
Seated in the lower portion of the Wall of the olla, is a tap or faucet 30 which projects outwardly through an opening 3| that is formed` in the wall of jacket I4. 'Ihe positions of these faucets in the ollas vary slightly, some faucets being slightly higher than the others, and to accommodate this variation of the position of the faucets, the aperture 3| in the wall of the jacket is in the form of a short vertically disposed slot.
In order to cover this slot so as to produce a neat and finished appearance of the jacket around the faucet, a plate 32, preferably of sheet metal and finished to correspond with the finish of the jacket, is provided in its central portion with a short slot or notch 33 for .the accommodation of the faucet, and secured to the rear face of this plate, are the central portions of a pair of horizontally disposed metal straps 34.
In the application of plate 32 to the outer face of the jacket with the faucet 30 projecting through notch 33, the ends of the straps 34 are bent toward each other, and after being inserted through the slot or opening 3|, the ends of said straps are bent outwardly away from each other, so that they lie immediately against the inner face of the jacket wall, thus holding the plate 32 in proper position upon the projecting portion of the faucet 3IJ. (See Fig. 4).
The length of plate 32 is such as to cover the slot or opening 3 I, regardless of the vertical position of the faucet 30 in said slot or opening.
Suitably secured to the lower portion of the jacket I4, directly below the faucet 30, is a short trough 35, the outer portion of which serves as a support for a drinking glass, and the inner portion of this trough terminates above the jar I2, so that any Water that is wasted while drawing water from the faucet will pass through said trough and discharge into said jar I2.
When my improved water cooler is set up for use with the olla positioned on the base, there is a continuous chamber between the wall of the olla and the Wall of the jacket, and air circulates through this chamber and through the openings I6, 20 and I5. This circulation of air is effective, in causing evaporation of the moisture on the surface of the air, and such evaporation draws heat from the olla so as to materially lower the temperature of the water contained therein, so that comparatively cool water is obtained when drawn from the olla through .the faucet.
By providing two sets of apertures 22 in the flange 2|, with said sets at different elevations, the base I'I may be adjusted vertically, so as to accommodate ollas which may differ slightly in length. The bottom of the base I'I declines in all directions toward the central opening I8, so that any drip from the surface of the olla will, by gravity, drain to the outlet I8, and pass from thence into the jar I2.
After the base I1 has been produced and the apertures formed therein, said base is dipped in a galvanizing bath, so as to provide a protecting coating for all of the edges and surfaces of said base, and thus the development of rust on any portion of the base is prevented.
The depending flange of the ring cover 28 that is positioned on top of the jacket, is made sufficiently long to enable said cover to be raised for an inch or two While positioned on the jacket, thereby providing an additional adjustment for the accommodation of ollas of extra length.
When the cooler is set up for use, and the olla is filled, or partially filled, from an inverted Water bottle positioned on top of the cooler, as illustrated in Fig. 2, the water will, in a short time, permeate the Wall of the olla so that a considerable degree of moisture accumulates on the outer surface of the olla, and as the air circulates over the moist surface of the olla, evaporation of the moisture takes place which automatically exerts a cooling effect on the Water contained within the olla.
The construction of the cooler is such that it may be readily assembled or taken part, and when properly set up for use, and with the olla positioned o n the base and firmly held by the springs 26, the entire structure may be readily lifted, handled and .transported as a unit, so as to greatly facilitate loading and unloading on delivery trucks, and while being delivered or carried to the point of use.
Thus it will be seen that I have provided a drinking water cooler and dispenser that is relatively simple in construction, inexpensive of manufacture, and very effective in performing the functions for which it is intended.
The entire structure is very compact, and when properly finished, presents a neat and attractive appearance.
It will be understood that minor changes in the size, form and construction of the various parts of my improved water cooler and dispenser may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described, without -departing from the spirit of my invention, the scope of which is set forth in the appended claims.
I claim as my invention:
1. In a water cooler, a jacket, a base mounted within the lower portion of said jacket, there being air circulation openings formed through said base adjacent the Wall of said jacket Wires positioned on top of and extending across said base, the ends of which wires pass through certain of said circulation openings, and an olla supported by said Wires.
2. In a water cooler, a jacket, a base mounted within the lower portion of said jacket and provided adjacent its edge with air circulation openings, there being air circulation openings formed through the wall of the jacket below said base wires positioned on top of and extending across .said base, the ends of which wires pass through certain of the circulation openings in said base, an olla supported by said wires and there being air circulation openings formed through the wall of the jacket near its upper end.
3. In a water cooler, a jacket, a base mounted within the lower portion of Said jacket, there being air circulation openings formed through said base adjacent .the wall of said jacket wires positioned on top of and extending across said base, the ends of which wires pass through certain of said circulation openings, an olla supported by said Wires, there being air circulation openings formed through the wall of the jacket below said base and there being air circulation openings formed through the wall of .the jacket near its upper end.
4. In a water cooler, a jacket, a base arranged within the lower portion of said jacket, a flange proje'cting upwardly from the marginal portion of said base and bearing against the wall of the jacket, there being apertures formed through said ange at different elevations, means passing through said apertures and the wall of the jacket to secure the latter in differently adjusted vertical positions within the jacket and anv olla supported upon said base.
5. In a water cooler, a jacket, a base arranged Within the lower portion of said jacket, a ange projecting upwardly from the marginal portion of Said base and bearing against the wall of the jacket, there being apertures formed through said flange at different elevations, means passing through said apertures and the wall of thejacket to secure the latter in diierently adjusted vertical positions within the jacket, an olla supported upon said base and means secured to the ange a of said base and bearing against said olla to yieldingly maintain same in centered position upon said base.

In a water cooler, a jacket, a base arranged within the lower portion of said jacket, a flange projecting upwardly from the marginal portion of said base and bearing against the wall of the jacket, there being apertures formed through said flange at different elevations, means passing through said apertures and the wall of the jacket to secure the latter in differently adjusted ver tical positions within the jacket, an olla supported upon said base, there being air circulation openings formed through said base adjacent the marginal flange thereof, there being air circulation openings formed through the wall of the jacket below said base and air circulation openings formed through the wall of said jacket adjacent its upper end.
8. In a Watercooler, a jacket, an olla supported within said jacket, a faucet carried by the lower portion of said olla, there being an opening in the Wall of the jacket for the accommodation of said faucet, a plate for closing the opening in said jacket said plate having a slot for the reception of said faucet and a pair of straps secured to the inner face of' said plate, which straps extend through the opening in the wall of the jacket for maintaining said plate in sliding engagement with the wall of the jacket.
9. In a water cooler, a jacket, a base positioned within the lower portion of said jacket, means for securing said base to said jacket in differently adjusted vertical positions, there being a drain opening formed in the center of said base, the bottom of which base gradually declines in all directions toward said drain opening, an olla, means removablypositioned on top of said base for supporting said olla in spaced relation upon said base and resilient means secured to the marginal portion of said base and projecting upwardly therefrom for holding said olla in centered position upon said base.
