Claims. (Cl. 37-49) This invention relates to a snow plow and it aims to provide a novel construction adapted to be pushed by a tractor or other source of power and to remove the snow with the expenditure 5 .of less power'than heretofore. r
It is particularly aimed to provide such a construction wherein the snow is elevated in strips and while elevated is discharged, to effect the removal with minimum power.
It is also aimed to provide such a structure as is capable of maximum adjustment and has moldboards adapted to discharge to either side or to discharge solely to one side as preferred.
Various additional objects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the description following taken in connection with accompanying drawings illustrating an operative embodiment. a I I In said drawings:

Referring specifically to the drawings wherein like reference characters designate like or similar parts, the device comprises parallel longitudinal beams Ill preferably of metal adapted to be fas- 35 tened removably by bolts. or the like as at H to a tract-or l2 which is representative ofany source of power which may be used to push the improvements. The forward end of the blade l6 may be reenforced with a scraper l8 whose forward edge is preferably sharpened as shown, the scraper being riveted or removably bolted as at 19 to the plow blade.

A moldboard co-acts with the blade I6 and is made in similar sections 22, having wings 23, thereon'beyond the blade. Such moldboard sections may be used in V-formation as shown in full lines in Figure 2 or may be used in a single line depending on whether the snow is to bethrown to both sides of the blade or to one side only. At the inner ends of the moldboards they are connected together by a hinge 24 to a leaf of which: a depending stud 25 is fastened or cast integral, and which stud travels longitudinally in a slot 26 disposed centrally and longitudinally ofthe' plow blade l6. Laterally extending trunnions 21 are provided on stud 25 and rollers 28 are journaled thereon and ride on the blade I 6 on opposite sides of the slot 26. Below the blade l6, trunnions 29 extend laterally from the stud 25 and have rollers" 30 journaled thereon which engage the under? surface of the blade Hi. In this manner, a ca riage is provided which will enable movement of the inner end portions of the moldboards with minimum friction. In order to fasten the inner ends of the moldboards rigidly to the blade IS, a lug 3| extends from the stud 25, having a set screw 32 threaded therein and adapted for binding against the undersurface of the blade 16. Because of the hinge connection at 24 and the fact that the carriage is longitudinally adjustable, the moldboards 22 may be arranged at any desired location either in V-formation or in parallelism to divert the snow to either side of the board l6 as preferred.
Guides and clamps 33 are riveted or otherwise fastened as at 34, one to each moldboard 22 and they have bifurcations 35 interengaged with guide rods 36 disposed below, in parallelism to and fastened at their ends to the blade Hi. The bifurcations of the clamps 33 enable them to engage or disengage the adjacent rods 36 and such clamps have ears 3'! in which set screws 38 or the equiva lent are screw threaded and adapted to bind against the rods 36 to rigidly hold the moldboards in the desired positions.
Integral or rigid with the scraper I8 are vertical parting strips 39, one located centrally of the blade l6 and one adjacent each side thereof and each being braced as by means of a bar 40 riveted thereto as at 4| and riveted to the blade I6 as at 42.

As a result of the construction described, the plow member or blade l6 may be disposed at any desired angle with its scraper I8 at any suitable elevation above the ground or surface to be 5 cleared. The source of power l2 will push the apparatus with the scraper l8 foremost and the snow will ride upwardly along the blade I6, severed into two strips because of the presence of the parting strips 39. Such strips of snow will 1 come into contact with the moldboards 22 and be forced off of the blade I6, at an elevation higher than the undisturbed snow, with the latter offering no resistance, it being understood that the moldboards 22 may be arranged in the V-forma- 15 tion so as to discharge on both sides of the blade IE or they may be arranged in alignmentto throw or cast the snow entirely to either side of the blade, the moldboards being readily adjustable as described. When the snow rides upwardly on the 20 blade 16, it may be turned from the same without much power and without compacting snow in ad- Vance of the implement. In the case of snow which is soft and dry, and resistance is not apt to be encountered by pushing the implement for- I wardly into the same, the blade H5 is lowered as nearly as practical to the horizontal.
Various changes may be resorted to provided they fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
I claim as my invention:- 1. Apparatus of the class described comprising a plowblade, moldboard sections thereon, said blade having a longitudinal slot, a stud disposed in saidslot, means carried by the stud overlapping a the upper and lower surfaces of the plow blade,
means on the stud hinging the adjacent ends of the moldboard sections together, and means to secure the moldboard sections in adjusted positions.
2. Apparatus of the class described comprising a plow blade, moldboard sections thereon, said blade having a longitudinal slot, a stud disposed in said slot, means carried by the stud overlapping the upper and lower surfaces of the plow blade, means on the stud hinging the adjacent ends of the moldboard sections together, and means carried by the stud adapted for binding engagement against the blade.
3. Apparatus of the class described comprising a plow blade, moldboard sections thereon, said blade having a longitudinal slot, a stud disposed in said slot, means carried by the stud overlapping the upper and lower surfaces of the plow blade, means on the stud hinging the adjacent ends of the moldboard sections together, means carried by the stud adapted for binding engagement against the blade, and clamp means carried by each moldboard section to secure the same in adjusted positions to the plow blade.
4. Apparatus of the class described comprising a plow blade, moldboard sections thereon, said blade having a longitudinal slot, a stud disposed in said slot, means carried by the stud overlapping the upper and lower surfaces of the plow blade, means on the stud hinging the adjacentends of the moldboard sections together, means carried by the stud adapted for binding engagement against the blade, a clamp carried by each moldboard section, longitudinally extending rods below and connected to the plow blade, said clamps having bifurcated portions engaging said rods, and binding means on said clamps engageable with said rods.

Apparatus of the class described comprising a plow blade, moldboard sections thereon, said blade having a longitudinal slot, a stud disposed in said slot, means carried by the stud overlapping the upper and lower surfaces of the plow blade, means on the stud hinging the adjacent ends of the moldboard sections together, means carried by the stud III
