- My invention relates to devices for securing objects to walls and similar structures. While intended primarily for use in securing electrical wires or pipes containing the same, it will be understood that the device may be employed for securing other objects which might be pipes for carrying things other than electrical wires.

My invention relates to devices for securing objects to walls and similar structures. While intended primarily for use in securing electrical wires or pipes containing the same, it will be understood that the device may be employed for securing other objects which might be pipes for carrying things other than electrical wires. An object of the invention is to provide a device of this character consisting of a plug of malleable material such as pig lead adapted to be expanded in a hole provided therefor in a wall or similar structure, and a flexible element secured to and extending from said plug so as to be adapted for bending or twisting around the object which it is desired to support from the wall. It will be understood that as many of the devices as are necessary to carry the object to be supported may be installed at spaced intervals on the wall.
The novel features which I believe to be characteristic of my invention are set forth with particularity in the appended claims. The invention itself, however, both as to its organization and method of operation, together with additional objects and advantages will be best understood from the following description of specific embodiments in which,

Referring first to the form of the device shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, a wire designated in general by the numeral I0 is bent intermediate its ends preferably nearer one end than to the other to form a loop 12 from which extend a branch 14 and a shorter branch l6, these branches being substantially parallel to each other. The looped portion of the wire is combined with a plug 18 of soft malleable material such as pig lead which may be readily molded into a plug of the desired size. The bent portion of the wire is looped around the plug so as to be attached thereto. It will be understood as a matter of course that the plug 30 will be installed in similar manner to the plug previously referred to.
Fig. 8 shows a modification in which a plug 36 in the form of a disk of malleable material such as pig lead is employed. The plug 36 is provided in suitable mann er as by punching,
with two hole of holes 38 and 40. In connection with the plug 36, a Wire l0 which may be of larger size than the Wire I0, is employed. The wire I0 is bent to form a connecting member [2' from which two branches l4 and IE extend, these branches device will then be installed in a manner similar to that already described by providing a hole in the wall or supporting structure and expanding the plug in this hole.
The operation and advantages of my invention will be fully understood in connection with the foregoing description and the accompanying drawing. The principle involved is substantially the same in all of the forms disclosed, this principle embodying the idea of providing a plug of malleable material upon which a flexible element is looped or otherwise secured, the device thus produced being installed by expanding the plug in a hole provided in a wall or other supporting structure. This device has been found to be very efficient in practice. The expansion of the malleable material in the hole provided therefor gives a very firm grip which holds more firmly the more that force is exerted on the flexible element tending to pull it from its anchorage in the wall. This result is due to the fact that the flexible element is looped at the rear of the plug which is of malleable or somewhat plastic material. Therefore any pull exerted upon the loop causes the forward portion of the plug to be crowded out and flow against the Wall of the opening or hole in which the plug is inserted. This action was proved by tests which were made.
I claim:
1. In a device of the character described, the combination of a plug of malleable material adapted to be expanded in a hole provided therefor in a wall or similar structure, and a flexible element looped around said plug to provide two branches extending therefrom adapted to be bent around an object to be supported from the wall.
2. In a device of the character described, the
combination of a plug of molded malleable material adapted to be expanded in a hole provided therefor in a wall or similar structure, and a flexible element having a portion thereof molded in said plug and a portion extending therefrom adapted to be bent around an object to be supported from the Wall.
3. In a device of the character described, the combination of a plug of molded malleable material adapted to be expanded in a hole provided therefor in a wall or similar structure, and a flexible looped element having its loop molded in said plug to provide two branches extending therefrom adapted to be bent around an object to be supported from the wall.
4. In, a device of the character described, the combination of a plug of malleable material adapted to be expanded in a hole provided therefor in a wall or similar structure, a strip of flexible material looped around said plug to provide two branches extending therefrom, and an enlargement containing a slot formed in the outer end of one of said branches, the other one of said branches being adapted to be bent around an object to be supported from the wall and the outer end of said second branch being adapted to be inserted through said slot and secured thereby.
5. In a device of the character described, the combination of a plug of molded malleable matherefor in a wall or similar looped strip having its loop molded in said plug to provide two branches extending therefrom, and
an enlargement containing a slot formed in the outer end of one of said branches, the other one of said branches beingadapted to be bent around an object to be supported from the wall and the outer end of said second branch be inserted through said slot and secured thereby. 6. In a device of the character described, the combination of a disk-like plug of malleable material adapted to be expanded in a hole provided therefor in a wall or similar structure, said disk containing two holes, and a flexible looped element having two branches passing through said holes respectively and extending from sa1d plug whereby the branches are adapted to be object to be supported by the wall.
