This invention relates to blade holders and more particularly to devices for utilizing and holding razor blades for uses other than shaving and after their utility as razor blades has passed and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements herein described and claimed.

It is an object of the invention to provide a device of this kind in which the holder for the blade is provided with a clamp which forms part of the gripping part of the device and which, upon the application of the natural grip of the users hands, will tend to hold the blade more securely in proportion to the pressure of the grip.

It is a further object of the invention Vto provide a device of the character described above which may be made so compact as to be usable as a watch charm.

It is a further object of theinvention to provide a device of this character which may be made of comparatively cheap metal yet which will provide great strength and durability.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of means whereby a blade may be gripped very securely, yet may be released or adjusted immediately upon releasing the pressure upon the clamp referred to above.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this kind which will be entirely free from set screws, slides, iianges and loose and dangling parts; which will be cheap to manufacture and will be simple in construction and operation. v

Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specification, forming part of this application, and the novel features of the device will be particularly pointedv out in the appended claims.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming part of this application, in which Figure 1 is a side elevational view of one form of the invention, showing the devicel in inoperative or closed position,

In the following description wherein reference to the drawing is made more particularly, the same reference characters are utilized for similar parts in the various modied forms of the invention.

In Figs. 1 to 3, there is shown a blade holder Il) of resilient metallic construction and having an enlarged portion at the top thereof as indicated at II and being so shaped as to snugly fit around a razor blade l2 of conventional structure. It will be seen that the blade I2 is slidable longitudinally of the holder. y

Pivotally mounted and overlapping the rlower ends of the holder I by means of a rivet I3 or the like is a U-shaped clamp I4, which, when in its uppermost position, as shown clearly in Figs.

1 and 2, causes a contracting of the sides of the holder I0 and a consequent gripping of the blade I2 therebetween. This clamping action takes place due to the fact that the clamp is formed of a comparatively rigid metal, while the holder is formed of comparatively resilient metal, and also due to the fact that the U shape of the clamp causes the sides to come together as it is pressed 35 upwardly. It will be appar-ent that in use, as shown in Fig. 2, the hand of the user will cause a pressure to be exerted between the enlarged portion or ridge II and the clamp I4, the greater pessure causing a greater gripping of the blade 40 I In the form of the invention shown in Figs. to 8, inclusive, the structure is similar in every way to that disclosed in the above-mentioned gures, with the exception of the handle I5 which 45 is here provided and the cut-out portion I6 of the ridge I I, which provides an easy means of adjusting the position of the blade. The handle I5 is made integral with the blade holder I0 and its provision provides means for holding the device. 50 The clamp I4 acts in the same manner as described in Figs. 1 to 3, inclusive.

In the form of the invention shown in Figs. 9 to 11, inclusive, there is shown a form of the invention in which a holder I0' is formed of a. 55

A blade holder comprising a blade gripping elem-ent of resilient material, the saidV blade gripping element having acut out portion in its top rear side so that a blade canV be adjustedhorizontally in the blade gripping.. element, a handle Y ormed integral with thel blade gripping element andV VaV clamp pivotally mounted up-on the said handle for gripping the open side of the blade gripping element for holding the blade in its adjustedpositions.Y Y
