All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apviews, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a view partially in horizontal section and partially in bottom plan of a roller skate embodying the present invention.
Figure2 is a view in top plan of the forward portion of a skate embodying the present invention.
Figure 3 is a view in vertical transverse section, taken substantially on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a view in side elevation of the for- Ward portion of the skate with parts omitted.
Figure 5 is a top plan view of the forward end portion of the skate with the toe straps and the front rollers omitted.
Figure 6 is a detail of the slidable clamps.
Figure 7 is a detail view in perspective of the shoe sole engaging tooth or calk.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the reference numeral I designates a foot plate mounted on the front and rear rollers 2 and 3, respectively. Rigidly secured beneath the forward end portion of the foot plate I and depending therefrom is a pair of4 angular guides 4 having aligned slots 5 therein. Extending between the guides 4 is a transverse rod 6 which, in the embodiment illustrated, is provided with a head I on one end and a securing nut 8 on its other end. 'I'he guides 4 are provided with openings 9 below the slots 5 for the reception of the rod 6.
Slidably mounted in the slots 5 of the guides 4 are clamps I Il which terminate, at Vtheir outer ends, in upstanding, rearwardly inclined jaws II having slots I2 therein. The reference numeral I 3 designates toe straps having loops I4 on one end view in perspective of one engaged in the slots I2, said toe straps being adjustably and detachably connected by a suitable buckle I5.
therein which accommodate the rod 6. Mounted on the usual tubular member from the foot plate I is a spring I9. The spring I9 is formed, at an intermediate point, to provide with the sole of a shoe. Y
It is thought that the operation of the invention will be readily apparent from a consideration of straps I3 been completed. The inner portions of the loops PATENT OFFICE I8 which depends are then adjusted and the operation of n Y securingY the front endof the skate to the shoe has per and sole in a manner to prevent the jaws II k from slipping off said sole but the same, as frequently occurs when the jaws are provided with the usual inturned end portions whichV engage over the sole. The construction and arrangement is such that an equal pressure on both sides is maintained by the spring I9at all times.
