IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTH ES-FO RKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 209,957, dated November 19, 1878; application filed April 29, 1878.
o all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. CASTLE, of Geneva, in the county of Ashtabula and State of Ohio, have made ,cert-ain new and useful Improvements in Clothes Forks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to-which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing,
and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure l is a perspective view of my improved clothes-fork with a section removed from the handle or staff. Fig. 2 is a front v elevation, partly in section, and Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same.

The object of my invention is to provide a has firmly secured upon its lower end a metal ferrule, a, having a disk or flange, af, its pur- Y pose being to prevent the running of the hot water, when removing the clothes from the boiler, down the handle upon the hands or dropping on't-he stove, and to turn its course back into the boiler.
Driven in or otherwise suitably fastened to the ferruled end of the staff or handle A is a two-timed fork. B, preferably made of galvanized malleable iron, and having its tines curved in opposite direction to form a broad bearing or pressing surface, as clearly shown in the drawings. An eye or staple, C,is placed in the upper end of the staff A, so that it can be hung on a nail or hook. v
When the clothes are to be taken from the boiler the fork is inserted into them and a turn given to it, which causes the clothes to adhere, when they can be held up to drain and be removed from the boiler.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
As a new article of manufacture, a clothesfork consisting of the staff A, having the flanged ferrule a. a', and fork B, having tines b b', substantially as shown and described, and as and for the purpose set forth.
