This invention relates to a dispensing device and relates more particularly to a device for dispensing microscopic slides, dental film packages, etc. A general object of the present invention is to provide a simple, practical and efiective device for' protectively holding and dispensing microscopic slides, dental film packages and like articles. I
It is highly important to'maintain the glass slides employed in microscopes clean and free of dust and finger prints. It is also desirable to have the microscopic slides conveniently accessible for immediate use. Other articles, such as dental film packages, must be protected in a like manner and must be easy of immediate access.
Another object of this invention is to provide a device that is adapted to hold and fully protect microscopic slides and the like against dust and other foreign matter, and that is readily and conveniently operable to dispense the individual slides or articles one at a time.
Another object of the invention is to provide a dispensing device of the character mentioned that dispenses the slides or articles in a manner so that the individual slides or articles may be grasped or removed without touching their faces of surfaces with the fingers. Another object of the invention is to provide a dispensing device of the character mentioned that is small and compact so that it may be arranged in a convenient'accessible position and moved from place to place as desired.
Another object of the invention is to provide a 1 dispensing device of the character mentioned in which a multiplicity of microscopic slides or like articles may be arranged in a substantially dust proof and moisture proof holder and may be individually partially ejected from the holderfor easy and convenient removal therefromby merely depressing a lever arm. This application is filed as a substitute for my application for Letters Patent, Serial No. 746,106, entitled Holder or container and dispenser of microscopic glass slides. 10
The dispensing device provided by this invention includes, generally, a body In having a holder II for a plurality of glass slides S or like objects, an ejector I2 operable to partially eject or project the slides from the holder II, andmeans I3 for operating the ejector.
The body I ii of the dispenser may be formed of stamped or pressed metal or may be in the nature of a die casting, it being a feature of the invention that the body It) is a simple, integral memher. The body It! in being formed of metal or its equivalent, as just described, is capable of being cleansed or sterilized without being injured. The holder I I is supported on the standard I4 and projects upwardly and forwardly'froni the upper end of the standard. The configuration and size of the holder II, of course, depends upon the configuration-and size'of the objects to be handled'by the device." The particular holder I'I illustrated in the drawing is designed to hold a stack of typical glass microscopic slides, it being understood that the invention is not to be construed as limited to this construction or this particular use. The holder II 'is integrally joined with the upper end of the standard I4 and the connection may be reinforced by spaced integral corner braces IS. The'forward portion of the slide S ejected through the opening 24 is entirely exposed so that its opposite edge portions may be easily grasped between a thumb and finger without contacting either the upper or the lower surfaces of the slide. Thus the slides S may be individually withdrawn from the device as required without marking them with finger prints, the fingers touching only the edges of the slide. The dispensing device of the present invention is easy and convenient to use and effectively protects the slides or other articles.
Having described only a typical preferred form and application of my invention I do not wish to be limited or restricted to the specific details set forth, but wish to reserve to myself any variations or modifications that may appear to those skilled in the art or may fall within the scope of the following claims;
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. A dispensing device of the, character described including a support, a holder on the support for containing a plurality of superimposed articles, there being an outlet in the front of the holder, an opening in the lower wall of the holder and a slot connecting the interior of the holder and the opening, a shiftable ejector in the said opening, a part on the ejector extending through the slot and adapted to engage the lowermost article to move the in the ejector, and means for returning the lever and ejector to their normal positions including a -most article, there being a longitudinal socket spring received in the said longitudinal socket.
