My invention relates to an apparatus for scribing angles on various shaped surfaces, particularly adapted for circular, curved, or polygon surfaces, and the objects of my invention are:
First, to provide an apparatus in combinative relation with a protractor for scribing angles 9 on various surfaces; 7
Second, toprovidean apparatus of this class which may be shifted'on the surface and the scribing continued on opposite sides of an object;
Third, to provide an apparatus of this class with double channel support so that it may be readily adapted to various surfaces in' alignment with the longitudinal axis of the body;
Fourth, to provide an apparatus of this class in which the protractor is quickly and readily clamped in relation with its support for scribing various angles;
Fifth, to provide an apparatus of this class of beveled surface's relatively to its support to A provide for accurate positioning of the protractor relativeto'its support;
Sixth, to provide an; apparatus of this class '55" With a plurality of scribing arms in pivotal relation to each other to provide for scribing on a variety of surfaces in various positions;
Seventh, to provide an apparatus of this class in which the scribing arms may be shifted to opposite sides of the body for scribing relatively large bodies on their entire periphery;,and
'Eighth, to provide an apparatus of this class which is very simple and economical of con struction, durable, efficient, easy to operate, and 5 which will not readily deteriorate or get out of order. 7 A

The protractor member I may be of conventional type and have the conventional invex degree markingsthereon from the middle outwardly to 90 except that the protractor is less than semi-circular so that the marker point is positioned in line with the 90 markings or center of the-protractor. This protractor is provided on its upper side with a slightly less than semicircular lug portion la which has its radial center in line with the marker I3 and a similar lug ib-on its lower side and the index portion is provided with a beveled groove lo whose radial point is also in line with the marker point. This protractor i is supported by means of this bevel portion lc at its lower side on the support 3 which is provided with a conforming beveled lug portion 3a which fits in the beveled portion Iov as shown best in Fig. 1 of the drawing, thus providing a definite fit between the member 3 and the protractor member and provide means forholding them in certain shiftable relation to each other. two outwardly extending ledges 3b and forming a channel shaped lower surface adapting it to fit on curved or similar surfaces as shown best in Fig. 4 of the drawing.

This member 3 is' provided with members 2 and 3 are pivoted on pivot member 4 which is provided with reduced ends adapted to fit in similar openings in the sides of the mem bers 2 and 3 and these members are supported by means of a bolt 5 passing through the body portion of the members 2 and 3 which provides slight hinge or pivotal movement of the members 2 and 3 at the protractor end. These members 2 and 3 are adapted to be clamped against the protractor by means of a clamp screw 6 which is provided with a head Ed on one end which fits in the body portion of the member 2 and the other end is screw-threaded in the body portion of the member 3.
Secured to the body of the screw 6 between the bodies of the members 2 and 3 is a hub la of a lever i which extends outwardly and provides means for turning the screw 6 for clamping the members 2 and 3 against the protractor member I, the beveled portions of the protractor and the member 3 forming a definite fit for holding the protractor in certain relation when clamping for providing accurate angular position of the protractor.
Mounted centrally on the fiat portion of the protractor member I by means of a screw 8a, which is provided with a countersunk head, is the one end of the scribing arm 8, the other end extending outwardly against the flat side of the protractor as shown best in Fig. 3 of the drawing, and pivotally connected with the extended end of this scribing arm 8 is another scribing arm 9 which is approximately one-half the length of the scribing arm 8, and pivotally connected with the free end of the scribing arm 9 is another scribing arm it} which is spaced from said free end by means of a spacer l l, and secured on the free end of the scribing arm I is a marker support 62 which consists of a rectangular in cross section casing member I211 which fits over the free end of the arm l0 and is provided with an extended portion 821) which is secured to the outer side of the scribing arm In. This casing is provided with a screw Me which is adapted to clamp against the outer surface of the arm In so that when the marker 53 is positioned on the opposite side of the member H6 in the casing I201, it may be readily clamped by tightening the screw I20. It will be noted that the inner side 13a. of the marker 83 is the central line for the protractor when folded in a position shown in Fig. 3 of the drawing.
Though I have shown and described a particular construction, combination, and arrangement of parts and portions, I do not wish to be limited to this particular construction, combination, and arrangement, but desire to include in the scope of my invention, the construction, combination, and arrangement substantially as set forth in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In an angle scribing apparatus, a pair of channel members with their leg members extending outwardly in opposite directions hinged together near their one end and means for clamping said members together at their opposite ends.
2. In an angle scribing apparatus, a pair of channel members with their leg members extending outwardly in opposite directions hinged together near their one end, means for clamping said members together at their opposite ends, and a protractor shiftably mounted between the clamping ends of said channel members.
3. In an angle scribing apparatus, a pair of channel members with their leg members extending outwardly in opposite directions hinged together near their one end, means for clamping said members together at their opposite ends, a protractor shiftably mounted between the clamping ends of said channel members, and a marker pivotally connected with said protractor at its radial center.
4, In an angle scribing apparatus, a pair of channel members with their leg members extending outwardly in opposite directions hinged together near their one end, means for clamping said members together at their opposite ends, a protractor shiftably mounted between the clamping ends of said channel members, a marker pivotally connected with said protractor at its radial center, and a plurality of pivotally connected arms for supporting said marker in relation with its pivotal connection.
5. In an angle scribing apparatus, a pair of channel members with their leg members extending outwardly in opposite directions hinged together near their one end, means for clamping said members together at their opposite ends, a protractor shiftably mounted between the clampings ends of said channel members, a marker pivotally connected with said protractor at its radial center, said protractor provided with a beveled circular groove engageable with a conforming raised portion on one of said supports.
6. In an angle scribing apparatus, a protractor support including a channel member, a protractor shiftable thereon with its center point in alignment with the longitudinal axis of said channel member, and said protractor and channel member fitted together by means of beveled surfaces to provide accuracy of position.
7. In an angle scribing apparatus, a pair of supports hinged together near their one end, means for clamping said members together at their opposite ends, and a protractor shiftably mounted between the clamping ends of said supports.
8. In an angle scribing apparatus, a pair of supports hinged together near their one end, means for clamping said members together at their opposite ends, a protractor shiftably mounted between the clamping ends of said supports, and a marker pivotally connected with said protractor at its radial center.
