IMPROVEMENT IN WlNDOW-CORNICES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 209,346, dated October 29, 1878; application filed September 25, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES LIPPE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain novel and useful Improvements in Adjustable Oornices for Windows and I hereby declare in what manner the same is to I be constructed, arranged, and operated, reference beinghad to the accompanyiugdrawings, which are lettered to correspond with and form a part of the specification. v
To enable those skilled in the mechanic arts to construct, and the public to operate, the same, I will describe it as follows, to wit:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the back of the cornice A, in order to show the arrangement of the adjusting screw-rod B, operating in the stationary nuts 1 and 2, which form a part of the plates 3 and 4.
O is an adjustable cap, operating by means of the clasps or hooks d d passing over the top of the cornice A, and hooking into the groove 8 s at any suitable point. i

The novelty of my invention consists of anadjustable cornice, A, with an adjustable cap, 0, to cover the opening 0', Fig. 1, said cornice operating by means of ascrew-rod, B, and nuts 1 and 2, to extend or contract the same to suit the different windows, by first sliding the cap 0 to either side of the opening 0, so that the screw-rod B may be rotated to adjust the cornice A to any desired width.
What I claim as novel and useful, and wish to protect by Letters Patent of the United States, is-- An adjustable cornice, A, with an adjustable cap, 0, provided with any suitable clasps or hooks, d d, said cornice being adjusted by means of the screw-rod B and nuts 1 and 2, all arranged and operating in the manner and for the purpose set forth. 1
