Description
Sept. 14, 1937. A, E WG 2,093,044
SKIBINDING Filed May 12, 1936 /7 Gres vl g Patented Sept. 14, 1937 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2 Claims.
The present invention relates to skibindings of that kind which are provided with adjustable toe irons in which the horizontal parts of the same are covered by a cover and in which the toe 5 irons are kept on place by suitable intersection of teeth in the. horizontal parts of the toe irons with looking teeth in devices adapted to be fastened to the ski.
The invention relates especially to skibindings of the stated kind in which the locking parts are enclosed by a cover and are arranged so as to admit an adjustment Without loosening the cover.
The purpose of the invention is to obtain a simple construction of the said kind which may be manufactured with small costs, is effective in use, and may be manipulated easily.
The invention is illustrated in the attached drawing in which the bindings are shown with cover removed.
In the drawing l designates the bottom plate of the enclosure of the adjustment device.
In the drawing numerals l6 and H designate locking plates having teeth coacting with the teeth 6 in the horizontal parts of the toe- iron 2, 2. The teeth 6 have a special inclined form tending to complete the interlocking, when the toe-irons are pulled outwards. The teeth 6 are arranged along a circular arch in order to make an angular adjustment possible. In order to secure the plates in looking engagement with the toe-irons, a lever 18 is pivoted at 9 in the bottom plate I. One arm 2!! of the lever projects into a recess 2| in the locking plate l6 and the opposite arm has an operating piece 22. In the position shown, the toe-irons are locked so that they cannot be moved. When the lever I8 is turned in the direction of the arrow X, the locking plate I6 is free and may be moved outwards by means of the locking teeth when forcing the toe-irons 2 toward each other. After adjustment the lever I8 is turned back again so that the teeth on the looking plates enter again the spaces between the teeth in the toe irons so that further adjustment is prevented.
I claim:
1. In a skibinding device, divided toe-irons having vertical and horizontal parts, a cover 10 covering the said horizontal parts, teeth arranged along the horizontal parts of the toe-irons, looking plates having teeth coasting with the said teeth, a recess being arranged in one of the locking plates and a lever, one arm of which extends 15 into the said recess and the opposite arm of which is provided with a finger piece for turning the same.
2. In a skibinding device. permitting transverse and angular adjustment, a flat base member, right 20 .and left toe-irons slidably mounted on said base member and provided with upright side flanges, inclined teeth formed on an arcuate base line along the front and rear edges of said toe-irons, front and rear locking plates resting on said base 25 member and provided with teeth corresponding With the inclined teeth of the toe-irons but formed on a straight base line, and a two-armed locking lever pivoted on said base member, one of said arms being adapted to engage with a recessed por- 30 tion of one of said locking plates, in order to firmly secure the toe-irons and locking plates on said base member, the other of said arms. having a finger-piece for turning said lever to release said locking plates and toe-irons from locked 35 position.
