In Germany latter. The supports, or a majority thereof, are
capable of adapting themselves to ground conditions and of being adjusted so that they take 7 up the lateral pressure exerted by the car upon the jack which, evenif it is placed. on slanting ground, cannot slip any more, and thejacked up car is therefore prevented from tilting.
By way of example, the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side view of the jack; Fig. 2, a front view of a support; Figs. 3 and 4 show the arrangement of aplurality of supports; and Figs. 5 and 6 show how a support is automatically raised and lowered.
The lack according to the invention may have a hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical drive, the construction shown employing a toothed wheel drive; The jack comprises the standard -I, the base plate 2, the extensible ram 3 and the lift- 'ing head 4, the ram '3 being elevated by. the turning of the toothed wheels 5 and B. At the top end of the standard I, as indicated in Fig. 3, or at the top end of the ram 3, as shown in Fig. 1,, and in case ofa plurality of telescopic rams at the lowest ram portion, a ring or flange 1 is rotatably disposed to which a support 8 or a plurality thereof, asshown in Figs. 3 and 4, are:
