This invention relates to a non-rellable attachment for bottles, jugs and containers, and is designed p-rimarily for use in connection with bottles containing high grade liquors, wines, per- Y fumes, etc., but it is to be understood that the attachment, in accordance with this invention,
may be employed in connection with any type of container, holding powder or pellets, for which it is found applicable.
'I'he object of the invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, an attachment of the class referred to which, when in anchored position with respect to a bottle, will prevent the surreptitious refilling of the bottle after the A original contents of the' latter have been discharged.

With the foregoing and other objects in View, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as Will be hereinafter more' specifically described and as are illustrated in the accompanying drawing wherein is shown an embodiment of the inven tion, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications maybe resorted to which fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.

' Referring to the drawing, I, 2, 3, l and 5 indicate respectively the body, breast, neck and mouth edge of a bottle and attaching lugs on the outer periphery of the neck. The lugs 5 are of the wedging type and coact with lugs 6 on the inner face of the attachment 'I for clamping the latter to the neck 3 and against the edge Il. When the attachment is connected to the bottle by the coacting lugs, it is furthermore secured to neck 3 by a body of cementitious material 8 interposed between the neck 3 and inner portion of attachment l.
'I'he attachment includ-es body part 9 formed of a pair of oppositely disposed inner facewise anchored together sections I0, Il of vlike form with this exception that the section I0 has lengthwise of its inner `face a pair of spaced oppositely disposed grooves I2, I3 of like form and` that in lieu of providing the inner face of section:- I I with grooves I2, I3 itis formed lengthwise with a pair of spaced oppositely disposed elongated ribs I4, I5 of like form which seat in the grooves I2, I3 respectively when the sections are anchored together. The grooves and the ribs are of less length than that of the sections and extend from the outer end to a point removed from the inner end of the sections. These latter are formed of any suitable material capable of being brazed, welded or cemented together,
The section l0, as well as the section II is formed from one piece of material and it includes a semi-annular inner portion or part I6 formed with an inturned semi-circular rear flange I'l throughout its outer end, a semi-circular forward flange part I8 merging into the top of and extending inwardly from and overhanging flange Il, a semi-annular frustoconoidal part I9, integral at itsinner end with the upper face of part I'I and a fiat substantially rectangular outer part 2i] which is of greater length than the portion I6, flange Il, part I8 and part I9. The part 2l) merges at its inner end into the upper face of flange I'I at the sides thereof. The part 20 in proximity to its inner Y end and adjacent its edges merges into the outer lface of part I8 at the sides of such outer face.
The part 20 adjacent its sides merges into the sides of part I9 and inwardly adjacent its outer end merges into the outer end of part I9. The inner end of the side edges of part 29 are flush with the outer face of part I6. The latter, flange I1, part I8 and part I9 are outset with respect to the outer face of part 20. The flange I1 is outset with respect to flange I8 and the latter is outset with respect to the major portion of part I9. The part I9 extends at an inward inclination from its inner to its outer end with respect to part I8. The part 29 at its outer end edge is formed centrally thereof with a semi-annular extension 2I which has its inner .face register with the wall of a groove 22 formed in the inner face of the part 29 at the outer end of the latter.
The end edges of the part I8 have sockets 23. 'I'he inner face of part 29 has a socket 24. When the sections I9 and II are secured together the sockets 23, 24 of section I9 register with the sockets 23, 24 o section III and the registering sockets are to receive coupling members which engage in the sections and connect the sections together in addition to brazing, welding and cementing the sections together. The manner of connecting the sections together by coupling members is shown with respect to the registering sockets 23 (Figure 4). The coupling members shown are indicated at 25.
The inner side edges 8 of the part I9 are provided in spaced relation to the ends thereof with oppositely extending upwardly outwardly inclined grooves 21, 28. The inner face of part 20 is formed with a pair of spaced oppositely disposed upwardly extending grooves 29, 30 inclining inwardly from their rear to their outer ends and are disposed lengthwise of part 2l).V The grooves 29, 38 are closed at their inner ends and open at their outer ends. The grooves 21,
v 28 open into the grooves 29, 38 through the inner Cil sides of and intermediate the ends of said grooves 29, 39. The inner face of part 20 forwardly of grooves 29, 39 is formed with a pair of horizonr tal disposed endwise spaced grooves 3l, 32. The
outer ends of the grooves 29, 30 open into the grooves 3|, 32 from the lower sides and intermediate the ends of such sides. The inner end of the grooves 3i, 32 are closed and the outer ends are open. The inner face of part 29 is formed lengthwise thereof with a pair of spaced parallel grooves 33, 34 which are closed at their inner ends and open at their outer ends. The grooves 3|, 32 open into the grooves 33, 34 through the inner sides of and outwardly adjacent to the inner ends of the grooves 33, 34. The inner face of part 20 outwardly adjacent the grooves 3l, 32 is formed with a pair of oppositely extending horizontally disposed inclined grooves 35, 36 which at one end open into the outer ends of the grooves 33, 34 and have other ends merge into each other and open into the inner end orf groove 22.
The portion I6 and flange I1 coact to provide a semi-annular shoulder 31. The flange I1 and part I8 coact to form a semi-annular shoulder 38. When the sections I0, II are anchored together in inner facewiserelation, the parts I6 of said sections coact to provide the body part with an inner annular portion 38e having its inner face provided with the lugs 6; the parts I6 and flanges I1 coact to form an internal rear annular flange; the flanges I1 and parts I8 coact to provide an internal rear annular flange Yoverhanging the rear flange; the parts I8 and I9 coact to provide a valve chamber 39 closed at its outer end, open at its inner end, having its inner portion of uniform diameter, its outer portion rusto-tapered in contour and with the outer portion of greater length than its inner portion; the grooves 21, 28 of the parts I9 register to provide outlets for the valve chamber 39; the extensions 2I and grooves 22 of the parts 29 coact to provide an opening for the reception of a cork 40 for closing the attachment, as well as an outlet for the contents of the bottle and an air intake for the attachment; and the grooves 21, 28, 29, 30, 3l, 32,
--33, 34, 35, 36 of one part 20 register respectively with the grooves 21, 28, 29, 39, 3I, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36 ofthe other part I9 to provide the attachment with a pair of spaced oppositely disposed tortuous tubular conducting passages 4I,
42 having their inner ends closed and their outer tion of uniform diameter of the valve chamber.
The passages 4I, 42 are for selectively conducting ofi the contents of the bottle and for the admission of air to the valve chamber and bottle.
The attachment includes a pair of superimposed valves 43, 44. The valve 43 is of globular form. The valve 44 is in the form of a disc of resilient material having a recess 45 in its upper face in which valve 43 seats when the bottle is upright. The valve 43 is of much greater weight than valve 44. The valves are formed from any suitable material.
Arranged within the body part 9 is a combined valve cage with guide element 46 consisting of an annulus 41 formed on its upper face with a circular row of spaced vertically disposed guide arms v49 of less length than the height of part I8 of a 41 bears against the lower faces of the parts I8r of sections I0, II; the outer edge of the annulus bears against the inner edges of the flanges I1 of sections I0, II and the arms 48 bear against the inner side faces of the parts I8 of sections Il),V I I.
The attachment includes a sealing element 49 which also constitutes a retainer for the element 46. The element 49 is in the form of a resilient gasket 59 for interposing between the inner face of the flanges I1 of sections I0, I I and the mouth edge 4 of the bottle, and it is clamped in position and compressed when the attachment is secured to the bottle neck. The element 49 is of greater inner and outer diameter than that of annulus`41.
'I'he valve 43 tends to maintain the valve 44 on its seat provided by that portion of the upper' face of the'annulus'41 which is surrounded by the arms 48.
If the bottle is tilted with respect to the horizontal to the right, the passage 4I constitutes a,
sage 42 orms a fluid discharge passage and the'` III) passage 4| provides a combined iiuid discharge and air intake passage.
The parts of the attachment are so arranged to provide for discharge of the contents of the bottle after the attachment is disposed at an angle with respect to the horizontal and as the attachment, when extending downwardly, is moved towards the vertical, the flow decreases and completely stops when the attachment assumes an inverted vertical position. It is thought that the preventing of discharge from the bottle, when the attachment is in an inverted position and vertically disposed, is due to an air-trap eiect within the attachment. The tubular or tortuous passages are of like form, oppositely disposed,V having oiset closed branches and so Vformed as to prevent the passage of a wire or othervimplement to hold valve 43 oi of its seat to surreptitiously rell the bottle.
The attachment is for employment in connection with any form of container having a neck or an annular extended intake or lling member. 'I'he term container is also meant to imply a bottle or a jug. The term neck is also meant to imply an annular extended intake or lling member.
What I claim is:-
1. In a non-refillable attachment for containers of the neck type, a structure having respectively an annular inner portion for connection to the container neck, an inwardly extending inner ange forming means at the outer end of said inner portion, an inwardly extending outer flange forming means overhanging said inner iiange forming means and means coacting with said outer flange forming means to provide a valve chamber for the reception of a pair of superposed valves, said chamber having an inner portion of uniform diameter and an outer portion of frusto-conoidal contour, said structure being formed respectively with means to constitute a closable iiuid discharge outlet and air intake at its outer end, with means to provide a pair of spaced outlets for said chamber and with means to provide a pair of spaced tubular conducting passages leading from the outlets for the valve chamber to said combined iiuid discharge outlet and air intake, a combined valve cage and guide element including an annulusl bearing against the lower face of the outer ange forming means and a circular row of spaced arms carried by and adjacent the inner and outer edges of the annulus and bearing against the inner side face of the said outer ilange forming means, and a sealing element bearing against the lower face of said annulus and adapted to seat on the edge of the container neck to provide a seal for the inner portion of said structure and for retaining said annulus in position, said sealving element being in the form of an annulus.
2. In a non-rellable attachment for containers of the neck type, a structure having respectively an annular inner portion for connection to the container neck, an inwardly extending inner flange forming means at the outer end of said inner portion, an inwardly extending outer flange forming means overhanging said inner flange forming means and means coacting with said outer flange forming means to provide a valve chamber for the reception of a pair of superposed valves, said chamber having an inner portion of uniform diameter and an outer portion of frusto-conoidal contour, said structure being formed respectively with means to constitute a closable fluid discharge outlet and air intake at its outer end, with means to provide a pair of spaced outlets for said chamber and with means to provide a pair of spaced tubular conducting passages leading from the outlets for the valve chamber to said combined fluid discharge outlet and air intake, a combined valve cage and guide element including an annulus bearing against the lower face of the outer flange forming means and a circular row of spaced arms carried by and adjacent the inner and outer edges of the annulus and bearing against the inner side face of the said outer flange forming means, a resilient disc valve loosely mounted on said annulus and encompassed by said arms, said valve having a cavity inY its upper face, a globular valve normally mounted in said recess and providing a weighting means for the disc valve, and a sealing element bearing against the lower face of said annulus and adapted to seat on the edge of the container neck to provide a seal for the inner portion of said structure and for retaining said annulus in position, said sealing element being in the form of an annulus.
3. In a non-rellable attachment for containers of the neck type, a structure being formed respectively with means for connecting it to and for extending forwardly from the neck of the container, spaced valved controlled tubular conducting oi passages, a rear internal flange at the forward end of and extending inwardly from said means, a valve chamber closed at its forward end, open at its rear end and communicating with said passages, a forward internal flange forming the rear wall portion of said chamber and overhanging the rearA flange, an annulus seated against the rear face of the forward flange and having its outer edge bearing against the free edge of the rear flange, a circular row of spaced arms carried by the annulus extending into said chamber and bearing against the free edge of the rear flange, and a combined sealing and retaining element bearing respectively against the inner face of said means, the rear face of said rear flange and the rear face of the annulus, said element for seating on the edge of the neck of the container.
