My present invention relates to articles of jewelry, and has particular reference to tie holders which hold the tie in substantially fixed relation to a shirt, while permitting a limited '-movement with respect thereto. It is the principalobject of my invention to provide a tie holder which has a clamp releasvantageous features in view, my invention com prises a novel arrangement of parts more fully disclosed in the detailed description following, I

in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, and more specifically defined in the claims appended thereto.

If desired, a single length of wire may be shaped to provide both the rear loop and the front element.

An endless flexible member I8, such as a chain is threaded through the two eyes so as to depend from the clamp, as indicated in Fig. 2, whereby a tie may be inserted through the chain to retain the tie in relatively fixed relation to the shirt, while permitting a slight lateral movement and a sufficient amount of vertical movement of the tie to accommodate itself to the body movements of the wearer. This movement is greatly assisted by the endless character of 55 the chain and its mounting, as the entire chain may shift, whereby catching of the tie between chain links and possible tearing is lessened.

If desired, the front element may be in sections, as indicated in Fig. 4, the front element l9 terminating in a connector 20 which may be in the form of a tube secured thereto, in which a second front element 2| is slidably mounted, the front element l9 having an eye 22 at the outer end, and the second front'element 2| having an eye 23 at its outer end, and having its inner end 24 bent, or enlarged, so as to prevent accidental removal from the connector 20.

It is thus evident that the novel tie holder includes a clamp which is detachably engage'able with the hem of a shirt front, and which has an endless flexible member such as a chain connected thereto to provide a depending loop portion movable with respect to the clamp, the width of the loop being adjustable to fit difierent widths of ties. Moreover, the construction described may be readily adapted for other articles of jewelry, such as brooches and the like.

Although a preferred construction of clamp has been described, any suitable type of clamp may be used; and any construction of chainbr flexible member, may be used, within the spirit and the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims. 1

I claim:

1. In combination, a clamp adapted to "releasably engage a garment part, and an endless flexible member slidably extending through spaced parts of said clamp and depending therefrom to provide a loop portion.

2. In combination, a clamp having spaced members resiliently urged towards-each other to releasably engage a garment part and having spaced eyes, and a flexible member slidably extending through said eyes.

3. In combination, a clamp adapted to releasably engage a garment part and having spaced eyes, and an endless flexible member slidably extending through said eyes.

4. In combination, a clamp having spaced members resiliently urged towards each other to releasably engage a garment part and having spaced eyes, and a flexible member slidably extending through said eyes and depending therefrom to provide a loop portion.

5. In combination, a clampadapted to releasably engage a garment part and having spaced eyes, and an endless flexible member slidably extending through said eyes and depending therefrom to provide a loop portion.

6. In combination, a clamp adapted to releasably engage a garment part, and an endless chain slidably extending through spaced parts of said clamp and depending therefrom to provide a loop portion.

7. In combination, a clamp having spaced members resiliently urged towards each other to releasably engage a garment part and having spaced eyes, and -a chain slidably extending through said eyes and-depending therefrom to provide a loop portion.

8. In combination, a clamp adapted to releasably engage a garment part and having spaced eyes, and an endless chain slidably' extending through said eyes and depending therefrom to provide a loop portion. I

9. In combination, a clamp comprising a rear portion and a front bar, spaced eyes positioned on said front bar, and an endless flexible member slidably mounted in said eyes.

10. In combination, a clamp comprising a rear portion and a front bar, said front bar including parts relatively movable to extend and contract the length of the bar, spaced eyes positioned on said relatively movable parts, and a flexible member extending between said eyes, whereby the spacing between the eyes is adjustable.

11. In combination, a clampcomprising a rear portion and a front bar, spaced eyes positioned on said front bar, and a chain slidably mounted in said eyes.

12. In combination, a clamp comprising a rear portion and a front bar, said front bar including parts relatively movable to extend and contract the length of the bar,spaced eyes positioned on said relatively movable parts, and a chain extending between said eyes, whereby-the spacing between the eyes is adjustable.

13. Incombination, a clamp having a front bar, said bar comprising two elements adjustably slidable relative to each other to extend andcontract the length of said bar, eyes ositioned on said elements, and a flexible member extending betweensaid eyes.

14..In combination, a clamp having a front bar, said bar comprising two elements adjustably movable relative to each other to extend and contract the length of said bar, eyes positioned on said elements, and a chain extending between said eyes.

15. In combination, a clamp having a front bar, said bar comprising two elements adjustably movable relative to each other to extend and contract the length of said bar, eyes positioned on said elements, and an endless flexible member mounted in said eyes.

16. In combination, a clamp having a front bar, said bar comprising two elements adjustably sildable relative to each other to extend and contract the length of said bar, eyes positioned on said elements, and an endless chain mounted in said eyes.

17. A necktie holder comprising a clasp for connection with wearing apparel, and an endless flexible element having two bight portions supported at spaced pointson the claspanld =having spaced strands of a length greater th'an the distance between said spaced points and draped below the bar, one above the other, to extend across a necktie in use.

18. A necktie holder comprising a wearing apparel clasp provided with an eye at each end thereof, and an ornamental endless element flexible throughout its length slidably supported at spaced points in said eyes and forming separate strands each adjustable vertically toward and away from the other and vertically toward and away from the clasp.

19. A necktie holder comprising a clasp for connection with a shirt and including a bar having an eye at each end thereof, and an ornamental endless chain of greater length than said bar and uniformly flexible throughout its length and slidably extended at spaced points in its length through said eyes of the the front of the necktie below the clasp and lengthwise of the latter, each of which strands may be lengthened by reason of said running connections with a corresponding shortening of the other strand.

21. A necktie holder comprising a clasp, and an endless member uniformly flexible throughout its length and having'runhing connections at spaced points thereof 'with'lengthwise spaced points of the clasp.

22. A necktie holder comprising a clasp having lengthwise spaced guides, and an endless flexible member extending at spaced points along one side loosely through the guides of the clasp to form a loop having two strands extending" be-' tween the guides,the strands forming'betw'een eachother a tiereceiving space, and both'strands together forming between the same and the clasp a second tie receiving space.
