1 Claim.
This invention relates to holders or jigs, and
more particularly to a device adapted to be attached to the scuffle-board of a work truck to hold a guy clamp in position while the guy strand is being secured therein.
Its object is to provide a device of this character which can be readily attached to and removed from the truck without interfering with the use of the truck for other purposes, and
which will greatly facilitate the securing of the guy wire in the clamp.
The holder or jig of this invention comprises a casting having a trough shaped to accommodate a standard guy clamp. Located on the underside of an arm which projects from the rear of the trough, is a tongue or boss which is arranged to fit into one of the skid holes in the top of the scuflie plate on the rear of the truck. Projecting from the bottom of this arm and in alignment with the tongue is a boss through which a set screw passes to engage the bent-over portion of the scufile plate. By means of this set screw the tool is firmly secured to the rear of the truck.

The guy wire clamp with which the fixture of this invention is designed to cooperate consists of a rectangular member comprising two plates 5 and 6, each plate being provided on its inner 0 surface with a pair of parallel grooves I, 1 adapted to receive a guy wire cable 8 which is looped therethrough and clamped between the plate members by means of clamping bolts l0, l0 and nuts II, II.
The fixture of this invention is a unitary structure preferably of cast-iron and comprises a support made up of a vertical fin l2 and a horizontal 5 plate l3. Projecting downwardly from the inner end of this support is a circular lug l6 adapted to engage a hole I! through the scufile plate [8 of the work truck. At its forward end the supporting member is provided with a downwardly 10 extending screw-threaded lug l9 adapted to receive a set screw 20 that engages the lip of the scuflle plate l8 to firmly secure the fixture in place.
At its outer end the fixture is provided with a 15 trough-shaped member 22 with side and end portions adapted to receive and firmly hold the guy wire clamp while the nuts II, II are being tightened thereon. A hollowed-out portion 23 in the member 22 receives the heads of the clamp- 20 ing bolts l0, l0 when the fixture is in place.
A fixture of the type described above provides a very convenient tool for linemen engaged in erecting pole lines, inasmuch as it can be easily attached to and removed from the workmans 5 truck without interfering with the use of the truck for other purposes and it provides a convenient and sturdy means for holding the guy wire clamp during insertion and clamping of the guy wire therein.
What is claimed is:
A device for attachment to a truck comprising a recessed clamp holding member, an extension on said holding member provided at one end with a downwardly extending protuberance adapted to engage a hole in the scufile-board of a truck and at its other end with a screwthreaded lug and a set screw carried by said screw-threaded lug adapted to engage the lip of the scuflle-board said lug and said screw being in alignment with said protuberance.
