.The invention has for its object to prevent wire.- or tape-shaped means, coiled on a spool, drum or the like, 'from uncoiling and is especially usefulon the transportation of" such spools and if the wireor tape-shaped body is rigid to some extent or resilient so as to be liable to uncoil, as are for instance the steel tapes or wires of electromagnetic talking machines of the Poulsen type.
With this object in view', the subject of the invention is a device adapted to be fastened to the spool as well as to the free end of the coiled One embodiment of the invention is described hereafter, reference being had to the accompanytape 2 being shown in the case here represented.
'For the purpose of the invention a circular groove 3'ls provided in either iaceoi the spool I. -These grooves are to receive the ends of a spring clip 4 to which a block 5 is secured, as will be seen from Fig. 2. Block 5 has a recess 6 which is to receive thefree end of the tape 2. This tape end is clamped fast by means of a screw 1 whose thread is in engagement with a female thread of the block 5. The screw I may be fitted with a check nut 8.
Theclip. '4 can thus in each case be so adjusted along the circumference of the spool that the tape shall be under tension.
What is claimed is: 1. A device for fixing a resilient wire coiled on groove in at least one face and a substantially U-shaped spring clip clamped to said spool and displaceable' around the circumference thereof, said clip having an edge or blade engaging said circular groove for securing the clip to the spool and having a wire holding portion provided with 15 screw clamping means, the wire being displaceable through said portion and the screw clamping means beingadapted to fix the wire in said -wire or the like which comprises a'spool upon which the wire is coiled, having a groove, in combination with a clip engaging said groove and attached to the wire at such an angle that the wire is comparatively sharply flexed in the-vicin- 35 ity of said attachment point.
