My present invention relates to an improvement in the manufacture of artificial threads according to the dry spinning method and more particularly to a spinning nozzle used in such a process.
The specific construction of my new spinning nozzle allows to bring the spinning liquid directly when leaving the openings of the spinning nozzle into intimate contact with the air, the gas or the vapors used in order to evaporate the solvents of the spinning solution, and to ensure a uniform distribution of the solvent vapors in the slowly moved column of the air or gas evaporating the solvent used in preparing the spinning solution. In this manner it is possible to give the resultant fibers special good properties.
My invention will be understood from the accompanying drawing which illustrates by way of example a suitable embodiment, and in which A Fig. 1 is a plan view of the nozzle and Fig. 2 is a section view of the latter on line 2-2 seen in Fig. l, the same reference characters being used in both figures to designate the same parts.
In Figs. 1 and 2 A is a spinning nozzle provided with a flange B to be connected with the tube supplying the spinning liquid. The nozzle A has a solid base C in which the spinning openings D are arranged in a plurality of rows between the central part of the bottom and its periphery while the center itself is not provided with openings. Now, these spinning openings D in the nozzle A are not arranged as generally, in complete rows, but there is a sector in each row without openings. Thus, when pressing a spinning solution through this nozzle, a space is formed in the cylindrical set of filaments. In this space a suction pipe E is introduced being rotatable about a pivot F. The pipe E is connected at G with a suction device and with the apparatus for recovering the solvent vapors. The mouth H of the pipe E has a projecting edge J adjacent to the base of the nozzle approximately at the unperforated sector of the nozzle. The other part of the mouth H is slightly ofiset from the adjacent part of the nozzle, so that there is a circular slot, corresponding to the ring of the spinning orifices, between the base C of the nozzle and the border of the mouth H of the pipe, through which the evaporative medium can enter.
Instead of moving the drying air by suction, it may be passed by pressure through the spinning cell. In this case the tube G is connected with a device for introducing air into the pipe E.
When practically operating with a spinning nozzle of the kind described, the drying air is compelled to pass not only along the ejected spinning jets, but also transversely through the freshly introduced material. In this manner it 5 becomes possible to avoid a supersaturation of the drying air with the solvent vapors at the space in the interior of the ring of spinning jets. 6n the other hand, it becomes possible to conduct any gas or vapor transversely through the 10 spinning jets in close proximity to the spot at which they leave the nozzle and thus to aerate or deaerate the space in the interior of the ejected bundle of spinning jets in the dry spinning process.
What I claim is:-
l. A device for spinning artificial fibers according to the dry spinning process comprising a nozzle with a circular base, in said base annular rows of orifices, the center and a sector of said 20 base being unperforated, and a pipe-like airconducting tube ending in front of the base at the unperforated part of the nozzle and having its end slightly offset from the latter.
2. A device for spinning artificial fibers 2.0- 25 cording to the dry spinning process comprising a nozzle with a circular base, in said base annular rows of orifices, the center and a sector of said base being unperforated, and a pipe-like airconducting tube ending in front of the base at 30 the unperforated part of the nozzle, its end being slightly ofiset from the latter and bearing an edge projecting to the base of the nozzle at its unperforated sector.

A device for spinning artificial fibers ac- 35 cording to the dry spinning process comprising a spinning nozzle terminating in a base provided with a plurality of spaced spinning orifices, the central portion and an area connecting said central portion with the periphery of said base 40 being un'perforated, and means exterior to said nozzle for conducting evaporative medium to and for discharging the same at a point adjacent said unperforated center.

A device for spinning artificial fibers ac- 45 cording to the dry spinning process comprising a spinning nozzle terminating in a base provided with a plurality of spaced spinning orifices, the central portion and an area connecting said central portion with the periphery of said base being unperforated, and means exterior to said nozzle for conducting evaporative medium to and for discharging the same at a point adjacent said unperforated center, said means comprising a 55 unperforated center, said means comprising a conduit in alignment with said unperforated area and having its discharge end slightly offset from said unperforated central portion.
6. Apparatus for spinning textile filaments comprising a spinning cell, a spinneret for extruding filaments therein, and means for directing a current of vapor transversely across the filaments adjacent the spinneret.
