N. PETERS PHOTO-UTHOGRA UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIoE.
ALEXANDER WILEY, OF BLUFF POINT, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN DITCHING-PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 205,325, dated June 25, 1878; application filed November 20, 1877.
To all whom it may concern.-
! Be it known that I, ALEXANDER WILEY, of Bluff Point, in the county of Jay and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ditching-Flows, of which the following is a specification:
This invention relates to that class of ditching-plows in which a mole is attached to a colter and carried upon a truck, which adjusts the depth of the ditch; and consists'in certain peculiarities in the details of construction, which will be distinctly indicated herem.
In the annexed drawing, making part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the plow, and Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation of the colter and mole attached to the rear of the frame. i
The same letters are employed in both the figures in the indication of the sameparts.
A is the beam, to the front end of which the wheels B are attached. It is mortised to receive thecutter O and colter D, which pass through the beam, and are securely fastened by keys. On the lower end of the colter is a share, E, which opens the earth for the conical mole, F, which packs the earth in the drain. The mole is attached by means of arod which passes longitudinally through its axis, and is fastened behind by a nut. The mole plays On the rear end of the beam is an extension or handle, I, which is used to lift the plow for attaching a shoe on the point of the share. The handles K are fastened by sockets. on the brace, and have a cross-rod, which rests on the stem of the handle I, and thus enables pressure to be put on the handles-to force the plow into the ground.
I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent- In combination with the colter, share, and mole, the brace G, attached by a bolt, which also serves to secure the hind axle to the beam, substantially as set forth.
. In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ALEXANDER WILEY.
