- 7 Claims.
The present invention relates to refrigerator cabinets and particularly to shelving therefor.
One of the objects of the present invention is to provide spaced tracks for a shelf or tray and provide portions overlying the track so as to prevent tilting of the shelf or tray when the tray. is partly withdrawn from the tracks.
Other objects of the present inventionare to detachably hold the tracks in position; to prevent the forward and rearward movement of the tracks when the tray is being removed or inserted in position; to prevent the turning of the tracks; and to prevent the tilting of the tracks.
Further objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing wherein a preferred form of embodiment of the present invention is clearly shown.

Fig. 2 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on line 2--2 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is the top plan view of the tracks removed from the cabinet, and
Fig.4 is a side view of the track.
Referring to the drawing, a refrigerator cabi net is shown at having a food storage compartment 2|. This cabinet is provided with the usual wire shelves disposed one above the other but have been omitted for the purpose of clearly disclosing the present invention. Preferably at the bottom of the cabinet there is provided a frame generally indicated at 23 which frame comprises two main frame members 24 and 25 formed of wire, which members 24 and 25 are interconnected at the rear by a wire 26., This wire 26 may be welded to the members 24 and 25; At the rear end of the members 24 and 25-is provided a reverse bent outwardly extending portion 21 anda reverse bent downwardly extending portion 28. The portions 28 are in the form of a hook and are arranged to engage the top and bottom sides of pins 30 suitably fastened to side lining of the refrigerator cabinet 20. At the front, each of said members 24 and 25 is provided with outwardly extending reverse bent portion 32 and a downwardly extending portion 33 which is widened at the" bottom part 34. The portions 32 are arranged to rest upon pins 30 and thewidened portion 34 is arranged to engage the side linings of the cabinet 20. Thus' it will be apparent that since the portions 21 and 32 rest upon pins 30, the entire frame 23 scope of the claims which follow.
is supported by the pins 30; the hook portion 28, fitting under the pins 3|), prevents the upward movement of the rear end of the frame 23; the rod 26 at the rear and the projections 34 at the front prevent the turning of the frame on the pins when a load is placed on the frame. The hooks 28. are also arranged to engage the front of the rear pins 30 so as to limit the rearward movement of the frame 23 and the projections 34 are arranged to engage the rear of the 10 front pins so as to limit the forward movement of the frame 23. It will be noted that the frame 23 cannot be removed except by first lifting upwardly on the front end thereof so that the projections 34 clear the front pins, and then by pulling forwardly on the entire frame.
Wire tracks 35 are secured to the under side of the members 24 and 25 at the front and rear thereof. These tracks are bent downwardly as at 31 at the loop of the members 24 and 25 so that they are spaced downwardly thereof the entire length of the long horizontal run of the members 24 and 25. C shaped wire brackets 39 interconnect the tops and bottoms respectively of members 24 and 25 and wires 86 intermediate the ends of the members so as to provide an additional support for the intermediate portion of the wires 36. The depending wires 36 form tracks for receiving a shelf or tray 4|]. It will be noted that the bend 31 in wire 36 extends outwardly beyond the inlet opening for the tray 40. The members 24 and 25 being disposed above the tracks 36, prevent the upward movement of the rear end of the tray 40 when the tray 40 is partly withdrawn from the cabinet. Thus food articles thereon will not cause the tilting of the tray when the tray is partly withdrawn from the cabinet. The wire brace 26 carries depending pins 4| which liein the path of the rear of the tray 40 and limit the rearward movement thereof.
It will be apparent from the foregoing that I have provided a shelf or tray which can be removed from the cabinet with the food products thereon and vice versa. This tray may be used, when partly withdrawn from the cabinet, for receiving food articles which have been carried to the refrigerator cabinet for placement therein or which have been removed from an upper shelf prior to carrying the same away from the refrigerator.
While the form of embodiment of the present invention as herein described constitutes a preferred form, it is to be understood that other forms might be adopted, all coming within the I claim: 1, In a slidable shelf unit adapted to be conveniently mounted in a refrigerator cabinet upon pins projecting from the vertical side walls thereof the combination of, spaced guides adapted to be mounted horizontally in the cabinet, said guides each including a track member and an overlying retaining member, and a shelf slidably carried by the track members below the retaining members, pin engaging portions at the opposite ends of the guides for mounting the guides, said guides at the rear having means arranged to prevent the upward movement thereof.

In a slidable shelf unit adapted to be conveniently mounted in a refrigerator cabinet upon pins projecting from theverticai side walls thereof the combination of, spaced guides adapted to be mounted horizontally in the cabinet, said guides each including a track member and an overlying retaining member, and a shelf slidably carried by said track members below the retaining, members, pin engaging portions at the 1 opposite ends of the guides for mounting the guides, said guides having means for preventing horizontal movement of the guides on the'pins and having means at the rear for preventing the upward movement thereof.

In a slidable-shelf unit adapted to be conveniently mounted in a refrigerator cabinet upon pins projecting from the Vertical side walls thereof the combination of, spaced guides adapted to be mounted horizontally in the cabinet, said guides each including a track member and an overlying retaining member, and a shelf slidab-ly carried by the track members below the retaining members, pin engaging portions at the opposite ends of the guides for mounting the guides, said guides having means at thefront and rear for preventing horizontal movement of the guides on the pin and having means at the rear for preventing the upward mcvement thereof.-

In aslidable shelf unit adapted to be conveniently mounted in a refrigerator cabinet upon pins projecting from the vertical side walls thereof the combination of, spaced guides adapted to be mounted horizontally in the cabinet, said guides each including a track member andan overlying retaining member, and a shelf slidably carried by the track members below the retaining members, pin engaging portions at the opposite ends of the guides for mounting the guides, said guides having means for preventing turning of the same on the pins.

In a slidable shelf unit adapted to be conveniently mounted in a refrigerator cabinet upon pins projecting from the vertical side walls thereof the combination of, spaced guides adapted to be mounted horizontally in the cabinet, said guides each including a track member and an overlying retaining member, and a shelf slidably carried by the track member below the retaining members, pin engaging portions at the opposite ends of .the guides for mounting the guides, said guides having downwardly extendably carried by the track member below the rea taining members, pin engaging portions at the opposite ends of the guides for mounting the guides, a brace interconnecting the rear ends of the guides for preventing turning of the rear ends of the guides on the pins and said guides having downwardly extending portions at the front ends thereof arranged to engage the sides of a cabinet for preventing turning of the same on the pins. 7. In a slidable shelf unit adapted to'be conveniently mounted in a refrigerator cabinet upon pins projecting from the. vertical side walls thereof the combination of, spaced guides adapt ed to be mounted horizontally in the cabinet, said guides each including a track member and an-overlying retaining member, and a shelf slidably carried by the track members below the retaining members, pin engaging portions at the opposite ends of the guides for mounting the guides, means providing a stop for limiting the rearward movement of the shelf including a brace interconnecting the rear ends of the guides, and
