Tan, M, WML F. SAAR METALLIC CHASSIS FOR ELECTRON TUBE AMPLIFIERS Filed July 13, 1933 INVENTOR I ATTORNEY Patented Jan. 14, 1936 UNITED STATES PATENT oFHeE METALLIC CHASSIS FOR ELECTRON TUBE AMPLIFIERS Germany Application July 13, 1933, Serial No. 680,245 In Germany June 30, 1932 2 Claims.
In the manufacture of electron tube amplifiers a substantial reduction in cost is insurable if one and the same metallic chassis may be employed 5 for different though similar outfits. For this purpose, it is necessary to provide different bushing or tube socket arrangements (terminals for batteries and line-supplied tubes) in one and the same chassis. Now, the present invention discloses ways and means designed to attain this end in an easy manner.
The drawing shows a portion of the chassis with the tube socket plate for the sake of explanation. There are three quadrangular cut-outs in the chassis, and in each of these two edges as sectionally shown are bent 01f angularly. Into the slide or keyway thus formed a strip of the insulation material upon which the tubular bushes belonging to the apparatus are mounted, can be readily shifted. At the two anterior faces of the strip two tiny slits are formed in the chassis so that after introduction of the strip of insulation material, two lugs may be pressed out in such a way that the strip will be prevented from lateral displacements.
I claim:
1. The combination of a substantially plane base support for electrical apparatus and the like, of the type which is positioned on one side of the support plane and provision is made to electrically connect to terminals of the apparatus from the other side of the support plane, said. base being provided with a plurality of apertures through which the said electrical connections are 5 made, a plurality of integrally formed lugs extending below the plane of the base portion along two opposite edges of each of the apertures, a sheet of insulation material having a width substantially equal to the distance between the 10 oppositely disposed lugs and slidable therebetween and means for securing said insulation sheet in position between said lugs, said insulation sheet being provided with a plurality of apertures positioned so as to register with the aper- 15 tures in the base support when the insulation sheet is in position.
2. In amplifying apparatus the combination of a support having a substantially plane base portion, said base portion having at least one aper- 2O ture therein, at least two lugs formed integrally with said base portion at different points thereof and extending therefrom along different parts of the edges of said aperture, a member constructed of insulation material and having terminal ele- 25 ments therein, said member being in sliding contact with and adapted to be supported by said lugs, and means for locking said member in position between said lugs.
