My invention relates to garment protectors of the type employed by merchants and others for the protection of the upper portions of garments disposed on hangers for display or storage.

The principal object of my invention is to provide a simple and effective protector of the type mentioned, and one wherein, by reason of its sectional construction, replacement or renewal of worn or damaged parts may be readily and economically made. As heretofore used, such protectors have been of .unitary construction, requiring replacement of the entire device upon even a minor injury to a portion thereof. By my present invention I overcome this necessity through the provision of a protector constructed of a plurality of sections, preferably two, so that an injury to one section may be entirely remedied by the replacement of the injured section instead of the complete device thus economizing on the expense of maintenance.

Figure 1 is an elevation of a garment protector constructed in accordance with this invention.

Figure 2 is a similar View wherein the parts have been separated to illustrate more clearly the sectional construction.

The numerals I and 2 indicate generally the respective sections of which my new garment protector is constructed. Each of said sections consists of front and rear walls 3 andv 4 respectively, said walls being composed of fabric portions 5 and transparent panels 6, the latter being made preferably of cellophane. The cellophane panels are preferably secured to the fabric by means of tapes 1 and stitched seams as shown, or the tape may be adhesive and so serve itself to secure the parts together without the seams. The walls are assembled by tapes 8 overlapping the upper and outside lateral registering edges thereof, such assembly being secured by means of stitching, as shown, or the tape may be of an adhesive variety and itself secure the walls together. The inner lateral edges 9 of the walls as well as the lower edges I0 thereof are bound by overlapping tapes II and I2, which may be either adhesive or stitched as preferred.

Each of the sections'l and. 2 as constructed in accordance with the above description is provided with an opening I3 in its upper portion, 5 adjacent its inner edge 9. The openings I3 may be provided with eyelets I4 as shown in Figure 1 or may be buttonholed or taped as shown in Figure 3. The openings I3 are adapted to register, when the sections I and 2 are assembled, as shown 10 in Figure 1, and to t over the hook I5 of an ordinary garment hanger. When thus assembled on a hanger upon which a dress or other garment has been suspended, the inner edges of the sections overlap and said sections provide a complete coverage for the neck and upper portions of said garment.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that a garment protector is provided wherein damage to a portion of the protector may be remedied by the replacement of but a single section at a great saving over the replacement of the entire device as required in connection with the protectors now in general use.

It will be understood that numerous modifications in design and construction of my invention as above described and illustrated in the drawing may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of my said invention as dened and limited in the appended claims. K 30 Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A garment protector of the character described, said protector consisting of a plurality of complementary sections, said sections being provided with registering openings, eyelets in said openings, said eyelets being adapted to fit over the hook of a hanger whereby, said sections may be assembled. 40

A garment protector of the character described, said protector consisting of a plurality of complementary sections each comprising walls having transparent panels, said sections being provided with registering openings, eyelets in said openings, said eyelets being adapted to t over the hook of a hangergfwhereb'y said sections may be assembled.
