This application is a division of U. S. application Serial No. 478,381, filed August 28, 1930.
This invention, generally stated, relates to a building structure and has more especial relation to that type of structure in which plaster-blocks are employed for walls, partitions and the like.
It is customary in the plasterers trade where plaster-blocks are employed in the making of walls, partitions and the like to lay or stack the blocks one upon another and cement together the adjacent faces of the blocks. Practice dictates that a wall or partition so formed is subject to buckling and generally does not provide a rigid and stable structure, particularly since the blocks are not properly supported with respect to the studding as commonly practiced in the trade. Further, with the usual practice of cementing the blocks together a practical bond is not obtained.
It is one object of the present invention to overcome the above disadvantages and provide a simple, efiicient, and relatively interlocked structure which may be readily and expeditiously erected by unskilled labor, at a cost not in excess of present day system costs.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a system of wall or partition erection in which a. novel form of clip is employed for maintaining in proper position the plaster-blocks employed both with respect to one another and to the studding utilized.
A still further object of the present invention is to provide a system of plaster-block erection in which a novel form of clip is employed whereby 35 ample space is afiorded for accepting cementitious material for effecting a bond between adjacent faces of the plaster-blocks.
Other and further objects of the present invention reside in the provision of general details 40 of construction and in the arrangement, combination, and connection of parts for attainingthe results sought by the foregoing objects.
The invention consists of the novel construction hereinafter described and finally claimed.
The nature, characteristic features and scope of the invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing forming part 50 hereof, and in which:
Fig. 1 is a view in elevation of a wall partition or the like erected in accordance with the present invention;

For the purpose of illustrating my invention I have shown in the accompanying drawing one form thereof which is at present preferred by me, since the same has been found in practice to givesatisfactory and reliable results, although it is to be understood that the various instrumentalities of which my invention consists can be variously arranged and organized and that .1
my invention is not limited to the precise arrangement and organization of the instrumentalities as herein shown and described.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral I0 designates studding comprised of channel irons or the like properly spaced in accordance with the character of work to be done. The reference numeral l l designates the plaster-blocks which are arranged between the studding as best seen in Fig. 1. With the lowermost blocks resting upon the floor I2, I secure together in superimposed relation, both with respect to one another and to the studding It, the various plaster-blocks by means of a clip best seen in Fig. 6. In practice the upper portions of adjacent plaster-blocks have fitted thereto a pair of the clips so that the latter overlap and portions thereof engage a studding, as clearly shown in Fig. 2, and then other plasterblocks are seated upon, the lowermost plasterblocks with their lower portions engaging the clips, as best seen in Fig. 1. This operation is repeated until a wall or partition, of desired height is obtained. Thus, the'plaster-blocks are relatively interlocked with respect to one another and with respect to the studding. In this position of parts a space is left between the adjacent faces of the plaster-blocks and such space I fill with cementitious material, as is clearly illustrated in Fig. 5.
Referring now specifically to the clip shown in Fig 6, the same is stamped from a single piece of sheet metal and comprises a relatively broad fiat body portion l3, having struck out therefrom oppositely disposed fingers l4 and I5 bent at right angles to the body l3, the fingers l4 being upwardly extended, and the fingers are adapted to engage the opposite faces of the plasterof the clip is cut away at I B to engage around the studding I 9, as shown in Fig. 2. Adjacent the cut-away portion I6 of the clip the body I3 is provided with an upwardly extended prong l I. Opposite the prong I1 is a horizontally disposed prong i8 which is also adjacent the cut-away portion I 6. Communicating with the cut-away portion I5 is a slotted portion I9, the purpose of which will presently appear. struck up therefrom an elongated rib 29 upon which in practice is adapted to rest the lower face of a plaster-block II, as clearly shown in Fig. 3. In practice with thecut-away portion it of a clip engaging around a studding I8 the horizontal prong I8 of one clip overlies a similar prong of an adjacent clip, and the prongs I I of the clips caused to pass upwardly through the slots I9 and then be bent over upon themselves to interlock the respective clips with respect to one another and with respect to the studding II as clearly shown in Fig. 2. In this position of parts, with the plaster-blocks II resting upon the ribs 20, a space 2| is present between adjacent plaster-blocks, and this space I fill with cementitious materials as before described so that a bond is formed between the adjacent faces of the plaster-blocks. As shown in Fig. 5, one of the plaster-blocks II may be provided with inclined edges 22 so that additional cementitious material may be applied to fill up the crevices between adjacent plaster-blocks thereby more readily to receive a coat of plaster 23, as plainly shown in Fig. 5. The parts thus assembled provide a rigid, stable construction well calculated to guard against buckling or bending, and the parts may be readily and easily assembled by unskilled workmen so that the cost of erecting walls or partitions in accordance with the present invention may be accomplished at a cost not in excess of theregular method of assembling plaster-blocks.

Also, in cases where the fingers are in the way of openings, for example windows, some or all of them may be omitted without destroying the useful purpose of the clip. If desired the fingers I l and I 5 may be apertured at 24 for nail reception, as indicated in Fig. 4 by the reference numeral 26. The body I3 of the clip may, if desired, be apertured at 21 for nail reception where'- by the'clip may be nailed to the floor or ceiling or to a plaster-block as occasion may require.
It will be understood that in the usual practice of the invention a pair of the clips shown in Fig. '6 are employed as is clearly shown in Fig. 2, in which case the fingers I1 are bent over to form an interlock between adjacent clips. However, in case only one clip is employed, as for example where the plaster blocks are extended out from a wall or partition, the finger I7 of the clips may be bent downwardly to horizontal position to close the cut-away portion IE to maintain the clip in relatively interlocked position with respect to a channel iron III. I am aware that the invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or essential attributes thereof, and I 5 therefore desire the present embodiment to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive, reference being had to the appended claims rather than to the foregoing description to indicate the scope of the invention. 10
What I claim is:
1. A clip of the character stated comprising an integral structure stamped from a single blank provided with a fiat body having extended at right angles thereto fingers for engaging the opposed faces of a plaster-block and having a cut-away portion for engaging around a channel iron, said body having stamped out therefrom a spacing rib against which the end of a plaster block abuts, whereby a space is provided between adjacent plaster blocks to accept a cementitious fill to constitute a bond.
2. A clip of the character stated comprising an integral structure stamped from a single blank provided vnth a flat body having extended at right angles thereto fingers for engaging the opposed faces of a plaster-block and having a cutaway portion for engaging around a channel iron, and also being slotted adjacent said cut-away portion, said body having stamped out therefrom a spacing rib against which the end of a plaster blocks abuts, whereby aspace is provided between adjacent plaster blocks to accept a cementitious fill to constitute a bond.
3. A clip of the. character stated comprising an integral structure stamped from a single blank provided with a flat body having extended at right angles thereto fingers for engaging the opposed faces of a plaster-block and having a cutaway portion for engaging around a channel iron, .10 and also being slotted adjacent said cut-away portion, said body having stamped therefrom a spacing rib against which the end of a plaster block abuts, whereby a space is provided between adjacent plaster blocks to accept a cementitious -15 fill to constitute a bond, and a prong adjacent said cut-away portion opposite to said slot.
4. A'clip of the character stated comprising an integral structure stamped from a single blank provided with a fiat body having extended at-lil) right angles thereto fingers for engaging the opposed faces of a plaster-block, said fingers being apertured for nail reception and having a cutaway portion for engaging around a channel iron,

5. A clip of the character'stated comprising an integral structure stamped from a single blank provided with a flat body apertured for nail reception and having extended at right angles thereto fingers for engaging the opposed faces of a plaster-block and having a cut-away portion for engaging around a channel iron, saidbody having stamped out therefrom a spacing rib against which the end of a plaster block abuts, whereby a space is provided between adjacent plaster blocks to accept a cementitious fill toconstitute a bond. r
6. An integral clip comprising a fiat body portion, a plurality of fingers extending at right angles from said body in opposite directions, a
pair of said fingers being in one plane and a pair in a parallel plane, said fingers being apertured for nail reception, a prong spaced from one side edge of said body portion, a slot equally spaced from the other side edge of said body portion, said slot being shaped to the size of said prong whereby when two clips are arranged in reversed meeting arrangement a prong on each clip will fit within a slot of the other, and a spacing rib of as great height as the thickness of said prong whereby when said prong is bent upon said body a uniform spacing between said face and a supported unit will be preserved.
7. An integral clip comprising a flat body portion, means for positioning a plaster base, a prong spaced from one side edge of said body portion, and a slot equally spaced from the other side edge of said body portion, said slot being shaped to the size of said prong whereby when two clips are arranged in reversed meeting arrangement a prong of each clip will fit within a slot of the other.
8. A clip formed as an integral structure comprising a flat body portion, means for positioning a plaster base, a prong spaced from one side edge of said body portion, a slot equally spaced from the other side edge of said body portion, said slot being shaped to the size of said prong whereby when two clips are arranged in reversed meeting arrangement a prong on each clip will fit within a slot in the other, and a spacing rib of as great height as the thickness of said prong whereby when said prong is bent upon said body a uniform spacing between said face and a supported plaster base will be preserved.
9. A clip formed as an integral structure comprising a fiat body portion, a plurality of fingers extending at right angles from said body in opposite directions, a pair of said fingers being in one plane and a pair in a parallel plane and being apertured for nail reception; a prong; and a slot; said slot being shaped to the size of said prong whereby when two clips are arranged in reversed meeting arrangement a prong on each clip will fit within a slot in the other.
10. An integral clip comprising a fiat body, fingers for holding a plurality of plaster blocks in predetermined relationship one to the other, a cut out portion in said body adapted to embrace three sides of a support, a slot, and a prong adapted to enter a similar slot in a second clip to join two clips, or optionally to be flexed to embrace the fourth side of the support.
11. An integral clip comprising a body, fingers for holding a plurality of plaster blocks in predetermined relationship one to the other, a cut out portion in said body adapted to embrace three sides of a support, a slot, and means, entering the slot in a second similar clip, to join two clips about the support or, optionally, to be flexed to embrace the fourth side of the support.
12. An-integral clip comprising a fiat body, fingers for holding a plurality of plaster blocks in predetermined relationship one to the other, a cut out portion in said body adapted to embrace three sides of a support, a spacing rib spaced from said out out portion, a slot, and means entering the slot on a second similar clip to join.
two clips or optionally to be flexed to embrace the fourth side of a support, whereby if two clips are joined the spacing ribs will be spaced from said support or if one clip is attached to said support it will be spaced therefrom.
13. A clip comprising a flat body portion, fingers extending in parallel planes at right angles to the plane of said body portion for engaging and positioning a plaster base, means extending from said body portion for connecting said clip to another similar clip, and means on the clip for receiving a corresponding last named means of another similar clip.
