Abstract

A weighted pickleball paddle for use in warming up prior to playing to ensure ones muscles are engaged and active to prevent pulled muscles. The paddle having a paddle head and handle. The handle has 4 sides and the paddle is further wrapped with a grip to provide the user a surface that can better remain in place in the users hand and not slip out. The paddle face has a front and rear side connected with panels. The paddle head is attached to the handle where two angled panels converge together.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention generally relates physical fitness and sporting equipment. More specifically, the present invention is a weighted pickle ball paddle.
    • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Pickleball is a common sport played by many. It mimics that of a tennis court, however, the court is smaller and the racquet or paddle is smaller than that of a tennis racquet. If one does not warm up properly prior to playing, given that the game is more fast paced than that of tennis, they run the risk of pulling a muscle or injuring themselves. In order to have weights on hand to be able to use to warm up and stretch, a player would need to carry a set of gym weights on them, which would be added bulk and additional items one would need to bring with them to their game. A solution to that would be to create a paddle made from heavier materials that can double as a paddle as well as a gym weight to help stretch muscles.
  • An object of the present invention is a pickleball player with a pickle ball paddle that is made from denser, heavier wood and materials. The heavier racquet providers the user with an apparatus they can use to swing around as if it were a gym weight to allow the user to warm up and stretch muscles prior to beginning a game of pickleball. The user can follow a set up of exercises with the paddle that will warm their muscles up and provide less of a chance of a strain or pulled muscle during the game.

    •  DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION
  • All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
  • The present invention paddle that is used for warming up before a pickleball game. Pickleball is a game that is played on a court similar to tennis, however, the court size is far smaller than that of tennis and a paddle is used instead of a tennis racket. As the court size is smaller, the pace of the game tends to be a bit faster as the ball will be retuned from the other player quickly as the court is smaller, causing one to stand closer to the net. As the pace of the game is faster, it can be very easy to pull or tear a muscle if you do not warm up properly.
  • In the preferred embodiment the pickleball paddle is made out of wood, carbon fiber, honeycomb, metal, or any material that will produce a final weight of roughly 1.5 pounds so it provides the user with a heavier than normal paddle. The heavier than normal paddle with double as a pickle ball paddle as well as a gym type weight that the user can perform certain exercises with to ensure their muscles are warmed up and prepared for the fast-paced nature of a pickleball game. The paddle is comprised of a paddle head 11 and a handle 12.
  • The handle 12 is also further made out of wood, carbon fiber, honeycomb, metal, or any material that will produce a final weight of roughly 1.5 pounds. The idea is so that the paddle has a heavier than normal weight to it so one can swing it around safely during exercises to warm up. The handle 12 is a 4 sided structure though the sides do not form a 90 degree angle. The sides have more a curved or rounded connection to the next side so that the handle 12 is not uncomfortable to grab. The cured nature to the handle 12 provides to so that it contours to the holders hand. The handle 12 has a front panel 21, a rear panel 22, a right panel 23, and a left panel 24. The front panel 21, left panel 24, right panel 23, and rear panel 22 all connect to form a 4 sided handle 12 with two sets of parallel panels. The front panel 21 is positioned between the left panel 24 and right panel 23 of the handle 12. The rear panel 22 is positioned between the left panel 24 and right panel 23 opposite where the front panel 21 is positioned. The handle 12 has a grip 27 that is perimetrically wrapped around the handle 12. This grip 27 provides the user with a rougher surface to hold on to that prevents the paddle from sliding out of the user's hand as they swing the paddle to hit the ball back over the net. The grip 27 traverses the length of the handle 12 and the handle 12 has an upper end 25 and lower end 26. The grip 27 can be made out of a rubber material, sports tape, or any material that will provide a rough surface that will prevent slippage when held.
  • The paddle has a front face 31 and a rear face 32. The front face 31 and rear face 32 each have six sides, a top side 41, a left side 42, a right side 43, a first angled side 44, a second angled side 45, and a bottom side 46. The paddle is further formed by connecting the front face 31 and the rear face 32 with a perimetrical lip 51. The bottom side 46 of the paddle head 11 attaches to the upper end 25 of the handle 12. The bottom side 46 is positioned between the first angled side 44 and the second angled side 45. The left side 42 connects to the first angled side 44 opposite the bottom side 46. The right side 43 connects to the second angled side 45 opposite the bottom side 46. The top side 41 connects to the left side 42 opposite the first angled side 44. The top side 41 also connects to the right side 43 opposite the second angled side 45. The perimetrical lip 51 starts and ends where the paddle head 11 connects to the handle 12. The perimetrical lip 51 begins on the left side of the handle 12 where the handle 12 attaches to the paddle head 11 and ends on the right side of the handle where the handle 12 attaches to the paddle head 11. The perimetrical lip 51 traverses the length of the first angled side 44, the left side 42, the top side 41, the right side 43, and the second angled side 45.
  • Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims (15)

What is claimed is:
1. A weighted paddle comprising:
a paddle head;
a handle;
the handle having a front panel, a rear panel, and left panel and a right panel;
the front panel being positioned between the left panel and the right panel;
the rear panel being positioned between the left panel and right panel opposite the front panel;
the front panel, rear panel, left panel, and right panel connecting to form a 4 sided handle;
the handle having an upper end and a lower end; and
the paddle head having a front face, and a rear face.
2. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 1 comprising:
the handle further comprising a grip;
the grip being wrapped around the handle; and
the grip traversing the length of the handle.
3. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 1 comprising:
the front face having a left side, a right side, a top side, bottom side, a first angled side and second angled side; and
the rear face having a left side, a right side, a top side, bottom side, a first angled side and second angled side.
4. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 1 comprising:
the front face and rear face are connected with a perimetrical lip.
5. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 3 comprising:
the bottom side attaches to the upper end of the handle.
6. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 1 comprising:
the bottom side is positioned between the first angled side and the second angled side;
the left side connects to the first angled side opposite the bottom side; and
the right side connects to the second angled side opposite the bottom side.
7. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 4 comprising:
the top side connects to the left side opposite the first angled side;
the top side also connects to the right side opposite the second angled side; and
the perimetrical lip starts and ends where the paddle head connects to the handle.
8. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 4 comprising:
the perimetrical lip begins on the left side of the handle where the handle attaches to the paddle head and ends on the right side of the handle where the handle attaches to the paddle head; and
the perimetrical lip traverses the length of the first angled side, the left side , the top side, the right side, and the second angled side.
9. A weighted paddle comprising:
a paddle head;
a handle;
the handle having a front panel, a rear panel, and left panel and a right panel;
the front panel being positioned between the left panel and the right panel;
the rear panel being positioned between the left panel and right panel opposite the front panel;
the front face having a left side, a right side, a top side, bottom side, a first angled side and second angled side; and
the rear face having a left side, a right side, a top side, bottom side, a first angled side and second angled side.
10. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 9 comprising:
the front panel, rear panel, left panel, and right panel connecting to form a 4 sided handle; and
the handle having an upper end and a lower end.
11. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 9 comprising:
the paddle head having a front face, and a rear face.
12. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 9 comprising:
the handle further comprising a grip;
the grip being wrapped around the handle; and
the grip traversing the length of the handle.
13. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 11 comprising:
the front face and rear face are connected with a perimetrical lip; and
the bottom side attaches to the upper end of the handle.
14. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 9 comprising:
the bottom side is positioned between the first angled side and the second angled side;
the left side connects to the first angled side opposite the bottom side;
the right side connects to the second angled side opposite the bottom side;
the top side connects to the left side opposite the first angled side; and
the top side also connects to the right side opposite the second angled side.
15. The weighted paddle as claimed in claim 11 comprising:
the perimetrical lip starts and ends where the paddle head connects to the handle;
the perimetrical lip begins on the left side of the handle where the handle attaches to the paddle head and ends on the right side of the handle where the handle attaches to the paddle head; and
the perimetrical lip traverses the length of the first angled side, the left side, the top side, the right side, and the second angled side.
