  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new personal cleaning device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6 , the portable loofah and container assembly 10 generally comprises a cleaning member 12 comprising a fibrous mass 14. The fibrous mass 14 will typically be a loofah or any conventional sponge used to facilitate washing a body of a user 16. A base 18 is attached to the cleaning member 12. The base 18 may have a circular shape and includes a top surface 20, a bottom surface 22, and a perimeter surface 24. The loofah is attached to the top surface 20 of the base 18. The base 18 may comprise a rigid material such as plastic.
  • A receiving member 26 is attached to the perimeter surface 24 of the base 18 and includes a tube 28 coupled to and protruding out from the perimeter surface 24. The tube 28 has an opening 30 therein extending into a receiving space 32 of the tube 28. The tube 28 has an aperture 34 extending therethrough positioned on a side of the tube 28. A handle 36 is elongated and is removably secured to the receiving member 26. The handle 36 will typically be telescopic and may be comprised of a rigid material such as plastic or metal. The handle 36 includes a first section 38 comprising a shaft enclosing an interior space 40. The first section 38 has a first end 42 and a second end 44 and the first end 42 is open to define an access 46 into the interior space 40. A hand grip 48 is attached to the second end 44 of the first section 38. The shaft can have a plurality of adjustment holes 50 extending therethrough and positioned on a side of the first section 38.
  • A second section 52 comprises a rod movably positioned within the interior space 40 of the first section 38. The second section 52 has a distal end 54 and a proximal end 56 relative to the first section 38. A locking member 58 engages the first 38 and second 52 sections and releasably engages the first section 38 to the second section 52 to adjust a total length of the handle 36. The locking member 58 will typically comprise a first spring pin 60 and be removably positioned within the adjustment holes 50 of the first section 38. A fastening member 62 is attached to the distal end 54 and removably engages the receiving member 26. The fastening member 62 may comprise a second spring pin 64 removably positioned within the aperture 34 of the receiving member 26.
  • A container 66 removably stores the cleaning member 12 to facilitate transporting the cleaning member 12 during travel. The container 66 typically comprises a case including a top wall 68, a bottom wall 70, a front wall 72, a back wall 74, and a pair of side walls 76. The container 66 has a lateral slit 78 extending therethrough and positioned in a center of the container 66 to separate the container 66 into a top portion 80 and a bottom portion 82. A hinge 84 pivotally couples the top portion 80 to the bottom portion 82 and is positioned on the back wall 74. A clamping member 86 is positioned on the front wall 72 to removably secure the top portion 80 to the bottom portion 82 in a closed position and may comprise a latch attached to the top portion 80 and a catch attached to the bottom portion 82. One of the side walls 76 has a slot 88 extending therethrough for receiving the handle 36 when the handle 36 is attached to the receiving member 26.
  • In use, the cleaning member 12 is used to facilitate in washing the user 16 and is typically used in a shower or a bath. The handle 36 may be secured to the cleaning member 12 to facilitate extending the cleaning member 12 to normally unreachable areas of the user 16 such as a center of a back 90 of the user 16. The cleaning member 12 is stored within the container 66 when it is not being used.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
