Abstract
A portable loofah and container assembly for transporting the device with a container includes a cleaning member comprising a fibrous mass. A base is attached to the cleaning member. The base has a circular shape and includes a top surface, a bottom surface, and a perimeter surface. A receiving member is attached to the perimeter surface of the base and a handle is elongated and removably secured to the receiving member. A container removably stores the cleaning member to facilitate transporting the cleaning member during travel.

- The disclosure relates to personal cleaning devices and more particularly pertains to a new personal cleaning device for transporting the device with a container.
- The prior art relates to personal cleaning devices and includes a variety of cleaning devices comprising a loofah or a conventional cleaning sponge. Known prior art does not include a handle removably securing to the cleaning device and a container removably storing the cleaning device to facilitate transporting the cleaning device during travel.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a cleaning member comprising a fibrous mass. A base is attached to the cleaning member. The base has a circular shape and includes a top surface, a bottom surface, and a perimeter surface. A receiving member is attached to the perimeter surface of the base and a handle is elongated and removably secured to the receiving member. A container removably stores the cleaning member to facilitate transporting the cleaning member during travel.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 6 is a top isometric view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new personal cleaning device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , the portable loofah andcontainer assembly 10 generally comprises acleaning member 12 comprising afibrous mass 14. Thefibrous mass 14 will typically be a loofah or any conventional sponge used to facilitate washing a body of auser 16. Abase 18 is attached to thecleaning member 12. Thebase 18 may have a circular shape and includes atop surface 20, abottom surface 22, and aperimeter surface 24. The loofah is attached to thetop surface 20 of thebase 18. Thebase 18 may comprise a rigid material such as plastic. - A receiving
member 26 is attached to theperimeter surface 24 of thebase 18 and includes atube 28 coupled to and protruding out from theperimeter surface 24. Thetube 28 has an opening 30 therein extending into a receiving space 32 of thetube 28. Thetube 28 has anaperture 34 extending therethrough positioned on a side of thetube 28. Ahandle 36 is elongated and is removably secured to the receivingmember 26. Thehandle 36 will typically be telescopic and may be comprised of a rigid material such as plastic or metal. Thehandle 36 includes afirst section 38 comprising a shaft enclosing aninterior space 40. Thefirst section 38 has afirst end 42 and asecond end 44 and thefirst end 42 is open to define anaccess 46 into theinterior space 40. Ahand grip 48 is attached to thesecond end 44 of thefirst section 38. The shaft can have a plurality ofadjustment holes 50 extending therethrough and positioned on a side of thefirst section 38. - A
second section 52 comprises a rod movably positioned within theinterior space 40 of thefirst section 38. Thesecond section 52 has adistal end 54 and aproximal end 56 relative to thefirst section 38. Alocking member 58 engages the first 38 and second 52 sections and releasably engages thefirst section 38 to thesecond section 52 to adjust a total length of thehandle 36. Thelocking member 58 will typically comprise afirst spring pin 60 and be removably positioned within theadjustment holes 50 of thefirst section 38. A fasteningmember 62 is attached to thedistal end 54 and removably engages the receivingmember 26. The fasteningmember 62 may comprise asecond spring pin 64 removably positioned within theaperture 34 of the receivingmember 26. - A
container 66 removably stores thecleaning member 12 to facilitate transporting thecleaning member 12 during travel. Thecontainer 66 typically comprises a case including atop wall 68, a bottom wall 70, afront wall 72, a back wall 74, and a pair ofside walls 76. Thecontainer 66 has alateral slit 78 extending therethrough and positioned in a center of thecontainer 66 to separate thecontainer 66 into atop portion 80 and abottom portion 82. Ahinge 84 pivotally couples thetop portion 80 to thebottom portion 82 and is positioned on the back wall 74. Aclamping member 86 is positioned on thefront wall 72 to removably secure thetop portion 80 to thebottom portion 82 in a closed position and may comprise a latch attached to thetop portion 80 and a catch attached to thebottom portion 82. One of theside walls 76 has aslot 88 extending therethrough for receiving thehandle 36 when thehandle 36 is attached to thereceiving member 26. - In use, the
cleaning member 12 is used to facilitate in washing theuser 16 and is typically used in a shower or a bath. Thehandle 36 may be secured to thecleaning member 12 to facilitate extending thecleaning member 12 to normally unreachable areas of theuser 16 such as a center of aback 90 of theuser 16. Thecleaning member 12 is stored within thecontainer 66 when it is not being used. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
Claims (14)
1. A portable loofah assembly comprising:
a cleaning member comprising a fibrous mass;
a base being attached to said cleaning member, said base having a circular shape and including a top surface, a bottom surface, and a perimeter surface;
a receiving member being attached to said perimeter surface of said base;
a handle being elongated and being removably secured to said receiving member; and
a container for removably storing said cleaning member to facilitate transporting said cleaning member during travel.
2. The portable loofah assembly of claim 1 , wherein said fibrous mass is a loofah.
3. The portable loofah assembly of claim 2 , wherein said loofah is attached to said top surface of said base, said base comprising a rigid material.
4. The portable loofah assembly of claim 1 , wherein said receiving member includes a tube coupled to and protrudes out from said perimeter surface, said tube having an opening therein extending into a receiving space of said tube, said tube having an aperture extending therethrough positioned on a side of said tube.
5. The portable loofah assembly of claim 1 , wherein said handle is telescopic.
6. The portable loofah assembly of claim 1 , wherein said handle is comprised of a rigid material, said rigid material being a plastic material.
7. The portable loofah assembly of claim 5 , wherein said handle includes a first section comprising a shaft enclosing an interior space, said first section having a first end and a second end, said first end being open and defining an access into said interior space.
8. The portable loofah assembly of claim 7 , further including a hand grip being attached to said second end of said first section.
9. The portable loofah assembly of claim 8 , wherein said shaft has a plurality of adjustment holes extending therethrough and is positioned on a side of said first section.
10. The portable loofah assembly of claim 9 , further including a second section comprising a rod being movably positioned within said interior space of said first section, said second section having a distal end and a proximal end relative to said first section.
11. The portable loofah assembly of claim 10 , further including a locking member engaging said first and second sections and releasably engaging said first section to said second section to adjust a total length of the handle, said locking member comprising a first spring pin and being removably positioned within said adjustment holes of said first section.
12. The portable loofah assembly of claim 11 , further including a fastening member being attached to said distal end and removably engaging said receiving member, said fastening member comprising a second spring pin being removably positioned within said aperture of said receiving member.
13. The portable loofah assembly of claim 1 , wherein said container comprising a case including a top wall, a bottom wall, a front wall, a back wall, and a pair of side walls, said container having a lateral slit extending therethrough and positioned in a center of said container to separate said container into a top portion and a bottom portion, a hinge pivotally coupling said top portion to said bottom portion, said hinge being positioned on said back wall, a clamping member being positioned on said front wall to removably secure said top portion to said bottom portion in a closed position, said clamping member comprising a latch attached to said top portion and a catch attached to said bottom portion, one of said side walls having a slot extending therethrough, said slot receiving said telescopic handle when said handle is attached to said receiving member.
14. A portable loofah assembly comprising:
a cleaning member comprising a fibrous mass, said fibrous mass being a loofah;
a base being attached to said cleaning member, said base having a circular shape and including a top surface, a bottom surface, and a perimeter surface, said loofah being attached to said top surface of said base, said base comprising a rigid material;
a receiving member being attached to said perimeter surface of said base, said receiving member including a tube coupled to and protruding out from said perimeter surface, said tube having an opening therein extending into a receiving space of said tube, said tube having an aperture extending therethrough positioned on a side of said tube;
a handle being elongated and being removably secured to said receiving member, said handle being telescopic, said handle being comprised of a rigid material, said rigid material being a plastic material, said handle including:
a first section comprising a shaft enclosing an interior space, said first section having a first end and a second end, said first end being open and defining an access into said interior space;
a hand grip being attached to said second end of said first section;
said shaft having a plurality of adjustment holes extending therethrough and being positioned on a side of said first section; and
a second section comprising a rod being movably positioned within said interior space of said first section, said second section having a distal end and a proximal end relative to said first section;
a locking member engaging said first and second sections and releasably engaging said first section to said second section to adjust a total length of the handle, said locking member comprising a first spring pin and being removably positioned within said adjustment holes of said first section;
a fastening member being attached to said distal end and removably engaging said receiving member, said fastening member comprising a second spring pin being removably positioned within said aperture of said receiving member; and
a container for removably storing said cleaning member to facilitate transporting said cleaning member during travel, said container comprising a case including a top wall, a bottom wall, a front wall, a back wall, and a pair of side walls, said container having a lateral slit extending therethrough and positioned in a center of said container to separate said container into a top portion and a bottom portion, a hinge pivotally coupling said top portion to said bottom portion, said hinge being positioned on said back wall, a clamping member being positioned on said front wall to removably secure said top portion to said bottom portion in a closed position, said clamping member comprising a latch attached to said top portion and a catch attached to said bottom portion, one of said side walls having a slot extending therethrough, said slot receiving said telescopic handle when said handle is attached to said receiving member.
