Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • The present application claims priority to, and the benefit of, U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/425,373, which was filed on Nov. 15, 2022, and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to the field of hybrid sheet devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to an improved sheet device that provides users with an improved bed sheet attached to the base of the mattress to assure the bed is made symmetrically each time. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.
  • BACKGROUND
  • By way of background, this invention relates to improvements in hybrid sheet devices. Generally, making a bed after sleeping in it can be a frustrating and time-consuming process, especially since it must be repeated daily. For example, trying to find the correct edges of the sheet to properly place it on the bed can be difficult. Further, the edges of a fitted sheet may not properly sit along the edge of the mattress.
  • Typically, sheets can become untucked while sleeping and/or can be twisted around or pulled to one side. This can cause the act of making one's bed even more frustrating. Further, constantly adjusting sheets throughout the night can be frustrating as they may end up off the bed or leave a user's feet or other body part uncovered.
  • Conventional sheets are prone to twisting and movement while sleeping. An improved sheet that is attached to the mattress to assure symmetry of the sheet on the mattress is needed. This invention relates to a new and improved hybrid sheet device having an end portion which enables it to be fitted onto an end of a commercially sized mattress, and which may be tightly fitted without slipping out of position during use.
  • Therefore, there exists a long felt need in the art for a hybrid sheet device that provides users with an improved bed sheet attached to the base of a mattress to assure the bed is made symmetrically each time. There is also a long felt need in the art for a hybrid sheet device that features a pair of dots at the upper edges of the sheet that can be used to align it perfectly with the mattress. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a hybrid sheet device that enables users to easily apply the sheet without having to lift the mattress or check side to side to see if the sheet is even. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a device that reduces time needed to make a bed each day. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a hybrid sheet device that includes numerous different sizes and styles to compliment any bedroom décor. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a hybrid sheet device that is available in any size to accommodate any type of bed.
  • The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a hybrid sheet device. The device is a modified bed sheet attached to one side of a mattress to assure a symmetrically made bed every time. The device comprises a body component comprising a single body of material with a pocket positioned along a bottom edge to be placed over the bottom of a mattress. The pocket maintains the sheet in a secure position without worry of it being pulled too far to one side or pulled off the bed entirely. Thus, the sheet device can be pulled tightly to one end of the bed with ease, resulting in a perfectly made bed. Further, the hybrid sheet device also comprises a marking component printed on an upper end of the sheet device. Typically, the marking component comprises a dot printed on opposing ends of the upper end of the sheet device. Users can align the sheet device with the corners of the mattress via the two dots. Thus, users can easily make their bed each day with minimal effort required.
  • In this manner, the hybrid sheet device of the present invention accomplishes all of the foregoing objectives and provides users with a device that remains secure on a bed during use. The device is an improved sheet device which fits most standard mattresses and can be manufactured in multiple designs and styles based on a user's preferences and bedroom décor.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
Further, the hybrid sheet device also comprises a marking component, such as a dot printed on opposing ends of the upper end of the sheet device. Users can align the sheet device with the corners of the mattress via the two dots. Thus, users can easily make their bed each day with minimal effort required.
  • Generally, according to the invention, there is provided a new and improved construction of a single-piece sheet or the like having a pocket which is secured around a bottom of a commercial mattress to hold the sheet device in place during use, and a marking component printed on the upper end of the sheet device to allow users to align the sheet device with the corners of the mattress during use.
  • In one embodiment, the hybrid sheet device comprises a body component, which is a flat portion on which a user rests or is used as a cover. The body component has upper and lower surface areas and defines a free end and a mattress fitting end. The body component can be any suitable shape and size as is known in the art, depending on the wants and/or needs of a user. Typically, the body component is a single piece construction of a base material but can be any suitable construction as is known in the art, such as multi-layers or sewn-on extensions, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user.
  • The body component also comprises a folded and sewn pocket which is formed across the width of the mattress fitting end. Specifically, the pocket is formed integrally with the sheet device (i.e., body component). Once in place, the pocket overlies an end portion of the mattress along its lower surface area. Thus, the pocket is adapted for fitting around the mattress corners. The pocket is defined along a horizontal seam line and opposing end seam lines on each end of the pocket. Specifically, the pocket is defined by the horizontal seam line and the two spaced apart, opposing end seam lines which are positioned generally parallel to the horizontal seam line.
  • In one embodiment, the pocket of the body component extends across the entire width of the sheet device to enable a tight fit over a mattress end and covers a wide range of mattress sizes. The pocket is typically formed by the ends of the sheet device being folded over and sewn together, creating the pocket. However, the pocket can also be formed in other suitable ways, such as by adhesives, elastic, buttons, snaps, zippers, etc., or any other suitable securing means as is known in the art. Consequently, when the pocket is fitted over the end of a mattress, the sheet device is secured in place on the mattress during use.
  • Further, in order to enable the pocket to be inserted over the end of a mattress, a series of expandable gathers are integrally formed along the pocket when it is first sewn. These gathers function to allow the sheet device to be slid over an end of the mattress. It will be appreciated that the pocket construction of this invention enables the sheet device to be fitted over commercially sized mattresses. Also, since both the pocket and the gathers are capable of expansion, the user is enabled to fit their feet comfortably within the pocket, without dislodging the end of the sheet device from the mattress.
  • Accordingly, upon positioning of the pocket onto a mattress and thereby securing the pocket onto an end of the mattress, a user is able to lie either on top of, or under the sheet device and in the latter instance, the user's feet are comfortably secured within the expandable pocket without dislodging the pocket from the mattress.
  • In one embodiment, the upper end of the body component comprises at least one marking component, but preferably two marking components, which help a user align the sheet device on the mattress. In this embodiment, the marking components are printed dots, but the marking components can be any suitable marking components as is known in the art, such as holes, notches, marks, buttons, etc. Typically, the dots (or other marking components, such a L for left and R for right, etc.) are printed on opposing ends of the upper end of the sheet device. The dots are printed such that a user can align the sheet device with the corners of the mattress. Specifically, the dots would be printed on opposing ends of the upper end of the sheet device with one dot printed on the part of the sheet device which contacts a mattress corner. Thus, the printed dots allow a user to keep the sheet device centered. Thus, users can easily make their bed each day with minimal effort required.
  • In another embodiment, the body component is multi-layered and includes at least one bottom layer and at least one upper layer.
  • Additionally, the hybrid sheet device is also available in multiple sizes and styles to accommodate any type of bed.
  • In another embodiment, the hybrid sheet device is a sheet, a blanket, a comforter, a duvet, or any other suitable covering as is known in the art.
  • In one embodiment, the hybrid sheet device is manufactured of fleece, cotton, polyester, blended fabrics, or other suitable materials. The hybrid sheet device can be manufactured in different thicknesses and weights, depending on the wants and/or needs of a user.
  • Also, the hybrid sheet device may be manufactured in different styles, patterns, and designs, and can include suitable ornamental designs and decorations, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user and/or the décor of the user's bedroom. Further, the outer edges may also include additional suitable material, such as fabric, embroidery, ribbons, lace, edging, seams, or other desirable material in order to further enhance the appearance of the sheet and also to prevent tearing and fraying which may result from repeated use and washing.
  • In yet another embodiment, the hybrid sheet device comprises a plurality of indicia.
  • In yet another embodiment, a method of securing and aligning a sheet to a bed for use is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a hybrid sheet device comprising a body component with a pocket positioned along a bottom edge and a marking component positioned on an upper end of the sheet device. The method also comprises choosing a specific style and size of the hybrid sheet device, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user. Further, the method comprises positioning the hybrid sheet device on a bed with the pocket secured around a bottom of the mattress. The method also comprises aligning the marking components on the sheet device with the mattress to keep the sheet device centered. Finally, the method comprises easily making a bed with the sheet device with minimal effort required.
